It's weird hearing it at the faster speed they really played it. Sounds great either way cuz the song's so awesome, but I prefer what they did as a creative collaboration between the band & Martin, resulting in as much an artistic creation as a song. The sound textures are different than if they'd actually performed it at the slower speed, which added a surreal edge. It's perfect.
Anyway the audio on this video is definitely the actual same tracks that were slowed down and used for the final.
this is NOT the original !!! you're all on CRACK ! .....there were several versions of this song. there is no Mallatron in this version at all..... the vocal is completely different.....and so are the drums. The finished version was a tape spliced version between a few different takes.
chez les Beatles : Il y a des versions publiques, les versions radio , les versions club et celles-ci et tout cela rend plus vivant des oeuvres qui auraient pu paraître figées et vqui en quelque sorte se seraient statufiées.Merci.
This is one of the original tracks used on the final master only sped up. The only reason its "fast" is because the tape machine is running fast (or possibly at normal speed and the master is run at slow speed). Either way, this is part of what was used on the final master only it is faster. You can tell the pitch is higher as well, so it's not that they're playing faster, it's the tape that's spinning faster.
@1olrocker Correct. Here and on Sgt. Pepper they played with tape speeds. For Example "When I'm Sixty-four " Was done this way to make Paul's for sound "Younger" talking about when he is older...
@skyprop Above Everything else You gotta Love the Backwards Drum track and give them credit to be able to do that and incorporate it at that time. I think It's SWEET!!
c'est intéressant. C'est cette alchimie en plus du grand talent des 2 auteurs phares qui donnaient tout le mystère et la magie que peu de musiciens pensent ou arrivent à apposer sur leurs notes qui m'a fait rêver même après l'adolescence...
yes this is the correct speed intended. It was slowed down 7.9% for the edit.
Something was recorded at different cycles per second (Thats why the countdown at the beginning sounds weird) but this is how it was intended

I don't think this is sped up.
I remember reading that the original was slowed down for editing reasons.

@skyprop And Of course the final version of "Strawberry fields" was a pairing of the same song at two seperate tape speeds.

@smartass2st no its not.. its different listen to the cello in the first vs
ANIKANSKYWALKERG 1 year ago
@smartass2st It's not sped up. The recording we all know was "slowed down" to match the key of a take they married it with. Yep, it's true.
