@LadyMask01 You're obviously confusing this comic book character with a god worshiped by real people. This Thor is, in fact, a Viking God, because that's how this comic-book world is set up.
@otherlleft@otherlleft Sorry to be a pea counter but Stan Lee who created the Comic Book chatacter speaks of Norse God. Marvels who is who says and I quote: Debuting in the Silver Age of Comic Books, the character is based on the Thor of Norse mythology. Indeed the Comic book character Thor has little to do with the one of the Edda. Thanks to Stan Lee and the truly immortal Jack Kirby. And to you Mortal of Midgrad I say thee: Make mine Marvel - Excelsior
It looks like a gay version of the real Thor. Thor was a scandinavian viking god who made thunder with his hammer when he was angry. He also used it to kill his enemies the evil "Jotnes". He wasn`t a superhero he was a viking god ..... get it!?
People should be informed that Marvel's Thor is a completely different mythos from the original legend, while they share characters and elements, they are not the same.
This cartoon intro...it was the '60s, so I say "whatevs" haha.
Talk about pure GOLD! Is this a real show? I love RARE shows like this. I wish The Hub, or Cartoon Network would focus on getting blocks of these to air on Saturday & Sunday Mornings. Imagine the ratings they could get. All of us retro fans now have kids, nephews, young cousins. We would watch it, then also get the kids in our family to watch it. Networks would make money on shows they don't even pay to produce now. Why can't they get that in their heads? Thumbs this up, and spread the idea.
@hootyhaha It was a real show, and I loved it. Thor was 1 of 5 characters chosen in 1966 for an animated series called "The Marvel Superheroes." Stories were told in 7 minute blocks; if I recall correctly, a complete story featuring a hero would last 3 seven minute segments. The unusual animation techniques used by the series (taking actual comic book panels, and creating semi-animated scenes) never detoured kids, who loved the clever theme songs and compelling stories.
This is a real show, after comics became successful they made shows out of them, with Thor, the Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America and the amazing spider-man, all with cheesy yet memorable intros. They were made in the 60s and got released on VHS in the 70s and 80s.
@haqatak23 I'm saying this as a Blockbuster (and general Brick and Mortar Walk In Store) supporter, check out my video HootyHaHa Blockbuster Netflix Together... I think it's really cool that Netflix has Spiderman 67 Collection on Instant Stream now. They had SHAZAM! for about a week, then it dropped off. Got a lot of people mad. It's a Filmation cartoon and tey have a license with them, nobody can figure it out. Hopefully it will be back soon though. But NF is doing good in the retro dept.
Black clouds on the horizon, great thunder and burning rain. His chariots pounding, I heard the heavens scream his name. -Thor I watched as he shouted to the giants who died that day. He held up him hammer high and called to Odin for a sign. - Thor
Thor the mighty Thor the brave Crush the infadels in your way. By your hammer let none be saved Live to die on that final day. Gods monsters and men will die together in the end
Im 18, and one side of me thinks in a funny way "What the hell is this?", the other side thinks "Damn, I should have born back then".

I remember watching this show as a kid! I couldn't remember the introductory theme, so I turned to good old Youtube to refresh my memory. Very cool.

Not a Viking God...actually but a Norse god. Viking means traveler and is not a term describing a specific tribe.

Thor deserved another cartoon in the 80's, one where he had his beard and mystic Asgardian armor from the post Secret Wars.
