Only real bug I find most of the time is on the STH3&K when the sprites get so crazy, the game crashes and switches to the S&K game....Then it freezes.

Excellent, I didn't know about this bug, and I thought to know a lot about Sonic. I voted 5/5 for you.
As for the reason, I think Carnate1 is almost right. I don't know if Knuckles' area is involved or not, but it's a bad reference going on for sure.

I think the sprites get messed up because it's trying to reference sprites used in Knuckles' area.

he's reached the point that the sprites for that ship bombing you need to be generated, then went back. that's why the sprites got messed up.
