I set auto-exposure to center weighted almost from the start. Also, with a lot of bright white snow around, the camera will think it's overexposing. I shoot with EV around +2.0. If it's cloudy, I'd recommend setting the white balance manually, choosing snow as your white card, otherwise you'll get blue snow.
Ty for the info ill have to try adjusting the EV and white balance manualy. This is my first dslr and i wanted to see how it would do out of the box. I am overall impressed with the ease of use and quality of the pictures for what i paid for the camera.
Dark dog on snow, tricky subject to shoot! They came out nice!
