Mr. Keating is one of the most effective - innovative instructors I have ever trained with. Truly a modern legend. The stinger creates havoc to ones cns system - conceals well - plugs into ones martail training whatever style that may be - and as mentioned by Mr. keating - falls under the gray area of weapons law - where as knife/firearms elicits instant negative feedback from legal systems.
If you live in New Jersey and carry a Comtech Stinger II as your keyring fob, there's always a possibility that some asshole New Jersey cop will say that your Comtech Stinger II is actually "brass knuckles" and arrest you on a felony weapon-possession charge. Your charge will most likely be downgraded to municipal court later, but you will probably wind up still being fined over $250 by the judge on your bogus charge anyway.
this costed 950 pesos in the philippines. too much expensive. i saw a star thing that actually looks like and hurts like a comtech stinger. i will post it here folks
Yep, it's the shit! Jim handed me my first Stinger in 1992 and I haven't put it down since! Recall a time when I had to put the move on a guy - at least twice my size, . . . absolutely no problem with three strikes he went down. Four strikes later and a death grip on his neck while applying stinger to mastoid knock, . . . the huge bully was beside himself, pissing himself, screaming - crying like a little baby. MAA James A. Keating Rules the Wave Of Life! Hats off Brother!
@elvague Hmmm...a 100lb gal against a 300lb dirtbag. Until we have universal open carry, this might have to do. And I think YOU'RE "the lame", by the way. LOL
I love this device. I keep it alongside my bottle opener on my key chain and when anyone asks what it's for I tell them it's to break up bags of ice for the cooler. Some have even aked me where they can find one. I just tell them Walmart. :) BTW it actually works pretty good for breaking up ice.
I have never heard of a "palming weapon" CA law on knuckles says it must protect the hand and it must contain metal to fall into this group. I do not know about other states. The Stinger does neither. I am not an attorney but I don't know anywhere this would be illegal. Is it a simple plastic keychain. Any time there are legal questions consult your local DA, not law enforcement.

I tell those who inquire as to what it is on my keyring that it is a device for acupressure and muscle trigger point release.

Excellent video ! I first saw the Stinger advertised at "Dillon Precision" I had no idea how it worked so I came here and you explained it perfectly.
I will be buying one for everyone in my family. Thanks again for the video and the idea of the Stinger.

Ok, so how did you get around the street legality issues since it is a palming weapon? It would be in the same class as the brass knuckles.

i like the ninja keychain better. i've tried both but this one feels uncomfortable because of the gap between palm and knuckles. personal opinion.

Very cool device, have a few of them around, James is brilliant, he has some of the best training DVD's and gear on the market.
Just gotta love this guy, pleasure to talk to as well, real down to earth guy.
