  • I just start to learn ASL recently, am hard of hearing. I can sign some simple words now. I joined a great deaf daing site, ----Deafornot dot c om----, and met some good deaf/HOH friends over there. They help me to learn ASL.

  • I don't understand why they didn't just use a real person! they had to use one to animate it...

  • Wow! I feel like that is real person but not! I do understand asl and wow alot of good face expression! Love that!

  • Crazy excellent 3D work! Must have taken FOREVER!!

  • WOW- I am surprised to understand a computer character signing! Great detail and movements.

  • For "The Forest: An ASL Story"... we used key framed animation (by hand). Maya was the primary 3d software.

Thanks for the comments by the way :)

  • AMAZING!! Very impressive. I am Deaf and understood every sign! FABULOUS JOB!

  • how u make that?

  • where did u get this?

  • informal "BOW DOWN"

  • informal:"BOW DOWN"

  • thats cool!!! wow! i like 3D

  • LOL! Amazing! I also work with 3D program and I know it takes forrrrrrever to do a detailed animation like that. Do you use special script or so to assign all and translate it like other online translation sites do? Or, did you animate all one sign by one sign (including the facial expressions)? Wow! Huge applause for all the hard work you all did!

  • Simply amazing...so clear and realistic! There are so many tiny details of ASL that convey SO MUCH meaning -and- I am surprised to see that you captured so much of that beauty!! FANtastic job!

  • That's awesome! Did you make it yourself? Very talented work, if I don't say so myself.

  • Thanks. I am glad you liked it.

My name is Michael Freeman and I was responsible for this animation. I am Deaf myself, graduated from RIT/NTID and working at Vcom3D as a 3d artist/animator.

Character rigging is done by Todd Palamar, Techincal Director at Vcom3D.

  • I thought this was excellent! I think this has much potential. I have ASL videos on my profile, but this one has much future potential. It will be one of my favorites. Sherman

  • love it!
