Do you think the 'Word On The Street' in an upcoming episode of Sesame Street may be the word "DANGER"? If so, would Sesame Street bring back those old 70s clips with the word 'danger' in it, especially that one with the 'Cthulu' like creature and the 'car crash sfx' volcano in it?
the fish eating the word 'danger' never did hit me the way the authors (I presume) intended. I just saw it as a fish eating a word...bizarre, but that's all.
...and what's with the chicken crowing "Danger" in the first place? That was just plain weird!
One other DANGER cartoon I thought was funny was a man with a DANGER sigh over his nose and another man says "There,s nothing dangerous!" And then the other man sneezes him away!
I didn't realize a lot of these cartoons on Sesame Street back in the beginning were by the Hubleys, great stuff! Funny how many old SStreet cartoons scared and freaked kids out,I loved the creepier ones! ..but I loved monster movies and comics from day 1 so I guess I was used to scary themes. Great cartoon, thanks for posting sawing14s!
There is a Canadian cartoon from 1966 sometimes shown on Cartoon Network's "O Canada" whose animation looks an awful lot like this. Its name is "The Cruise" and it was animated by John and Faith Hubley. The Hubleys did a lot of work for 1969 Sesame Street, including the haunting "E, E, See, Me" clip. I am willing to bet "Danger" is yet another Hubley masterpiece.
I have been looking for this clip honestly, for 2 years on here !!!! Sawing ?? YOU ROCK !!! And you know what ?? As much as this scared me when I was 4, I think it still does !! and I'm 38 now !!!
The fish at the end was what scared me as a kid. They gave it such a creepy sounding voice. The chicken at the beginning always took me by suprise too when it yelled Danger so loud. I didn't expect it.
The creepily wonderful of mind of Canadian female animator Faith Hubley (deceased), who produced almost every creepy clip you're talking about, including this one. :)
I have been looking everywhere for this one. I remember this from my childhood. I was so scared of this. Nice to finally see this after all these years.
I didn't remember this one at first because this was kind of scary to me as a kid. I remembered it more as I watched it but I can see why I forgot about it. The voiceover is what's so scary about it.
Oh my freaking head...this is it..the one I have been looking for ever since I discovered YouTube..this ranks up there as the #1 SS segment that scared me more than any other...all that screeching, and the creepy dark room..the fire..where on earth did you find this?...I assumed this would be one they wouldn't trust w/today's kids on a box set or Noggin. Thank you so much for posting...I'm going to hide under my bed now. :)

I love the look on the face on the fish when the word danger comes down on the fishhook.

I wonder why a rooster is dangerous?

Because they peck you and because they can wake you up at 3:00 in the morning.

There were a lot of creepy cartoons on Sesame between 1969 and 83 or so..but..they did their job..we all remember them decades later!

The car going off the road and through a guard rail was a bit too much for a little kid cartoon. The rest was ok, but spooky.

That's exactly what it was supposed to do; you're supposed to be frightened of danger

Go ahead! That's not a fishhook. It's a J.

A backward J.
moatguy 4 years ago
But if you look, in faint yellow, you can see the word "danger" hanging from the hook. So the fish is hinted to be in danger too. Serves him right.
raposofan 4 years ago
But he would not eat it because there was no bait on it.
moatguy 4 years ago
I think the word "Danger" on the hook is supposed to be the bait, and as we all saw, the fish eats danger
Maskedmutant 4 years ago
At least the fish did not eat the word POISON.
moatguy 3 years ago 2
it would be worse if the fish ate something that said "Rapala" LOL... I haven't seen this in over 30yrs I'll bet.... it is still kinda creepy, eh ???
ProfessorIgor 3 years ago
About the fish eating the word "Danger", I heard of people "eating the words" before, but this is ridiculous.

I remember this one. When I first saw this, I thought it was strange but not scary. I was a little too old at the time to think it was scary.
