depends how you do it, some people sew them on the inside but i did mine on the outside, if i were to suggest dont go out and buy a brand new pair and sew them, sew old pants, also if you are going to sew regular pants dont make them soo tight becasue they will rip, if you have gortex or holden pants sew them as far as you want cuz they will stretch
