When you have to pay child support it's almost like a death sentence. You're life is over. I think it's more important to give the man a chance to pull himself out of the dirt, accept responsibility and make something of himself so the child can have a father he could be proud of, instead of a father living in a shitty apartment barely getting by on what little money he is left with. It seems to me the law has sympathy for the mother and not so much the child. That's what I think anyway...
@carlinsaves I've been raising 2 boys now 11 and 14 getting 0 from their father. I work my ass off, have lived in more than one shitty, appartment, and live a very frugal lifestyle. All the while, dad has been living it up. He is finally leagally obligated to support his kids. (had to be hunted down and forced) After the struggles my children, and l have endured for years, I don't care if he has to sleep in his 35K vehicle for the rest of his life. :D I got 0 sympathy from anyone.
@BeGoneTrolls4evR There are exceptions to every rule, which is sad because it dooms equality and human rights to always be imperfect. In the the vast majority of these situations the law works in the favor of women and it's unfair to men. I'm not one of those people who say women have it all and men have nothing, that's not true, women still need more social rights, but men need more legal and reproductive rights. And I have sympathy for you. A father shouldn't just abandon his family like that.

I'm looked upon as a welfare mom, and irresponcible, because I'm a struggling single parent. I have never collected welfare. I had my kids in my 30s post carreer. It would be laughable, if I didn't have to point it out so often. Thanks for your understanding we could all use more of that.

I was trying to say if "my" kids dad gave 50% for their actual "necessary" expences, after contributing 0% for 14 years, they would be able to pay for college. I don't know where you live, but where I live, dads are obligated to contribute 1/4 of their income toward child support, and obtain medical benifits, if their employer offers them. They got it pretty easy in my opinion.

THE ONLY FAIR CHILD SUPPORT that a guy should pay is PRECISELY 50% of NECCESSARY expenses in which it should be required by law that the mother provides proof and reciepts as to what the neccessay expenses are and the mother is responsible to pay the other 50%.
