@OkieGirl7 Debra, thank you so much for your concern. Even after two years it is appreciated. :) I am doing much better now although I still have to eat a lot in order to maintain my weight. I was just away for 6 weeks on a dive research trip and lost 15 pounds in the first 4 weeks, but have been able to put most of it back on. I should probably do another update sometime soon. I would definitely still recommend MGB, as my experience is very uncommon. Good luck with your research!

For sure, we all have to choose what we think is best for us. It was scary, but thankfully I have been stable and able to control it through diet. You are doing fantastic, I am so happy for you and your progress is great!

Hi! I am so sorry I have not had the time to do an update yet, things were very busy over the holidays, but I will be doing another update soon. I have been at 133 for the past 3 weeks, and have been able to stop the weight loss by eating a lot.
The incidence of loosing too much is only 1%. The MGB is the best surgery IMO, which is why I chose it. If I ended up loosing too much, at least I would have the option of revision, which is just another 30 minute procedure.

Ty it was a very poor Xmas w/ hubby losing his job & all but you know what we made due w/ the kids..Told them they got alittle but maybe in July we'll have our christmas..They understood thank goodness.. I'm glad to see by your responses to people below your video that you are feeling better about this problem. I've been worried for you. I never thought I could possibly lose too much, but here I am only 2.5 months out, and allready lost 75 pounds, and although it is awesome to lose that much so fast, it kind of scares me with the possibility of it not stopping soon enough and making me lose too much as well. But yeah, hope things work out for you. Look forward to hearing how it goes.
Thanks, I seem to have stabilized for now, but only with eating a heck of a lot, and that does not usually make me feel too good. I guess the challenge now is to figure out which foods are high enough in calories, but still make me feel ok. Hope you had a fantastic New Year's!
I do know of another lady who had something similar and her doctor urged her to add more starches to help stall the weightloss... you are in my prayers...

Corn is a big no no for me, every time I have had it I have had pain. I have even dumped from corn tortillas. I am still hoping for a drop in my rate of weight loss. This is my 11th month since surgery so it should be slowing down. I am not scared anymore, I know my weight will still go down before it bounces back up, and I am finally ok with that. I have a sister close to my height who was always around 100 lbs and very athletic. I always thought my frame was bigger, but maybe not.
You hang in there girl. I've never heard of this happening. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I'm sure everything will get worked out. Keep your head up and remember you have lots of people watching you...backing you here!

Oy, Denise, can you even believe this. Do you remember the day before surgery when I asked in clinic "what if I only get down to 180, can I diet down to 150?" I never imagined that I might ever be in that 1% to loose too much. I am feeling better emotionally, and my cold is finally letting up. I will keep you and everyone else posted on what happens with OHIP. Should know mid-January.

I had an MGB, and the revision is simple, if my surgeon does it. They just move the bypass up the line so the amount of small intestine bypassed is less. I am hoping the specialist here will support my decision, and that it will be approved.

Hey Darcy! I am sure it will get resolved and I will be ok. Truthfully that 1% chance was never a risk I took seriously before. It was only when I saw this past month that things were not slowing down, and then made that trajectory from my spark chart that I realized I was in need of an intervention now. I will let you know what happens. In the meantime I will go and visit my family for the holidays, and get the 411 on the whole situation when I get back for my appointment. XOXOXOX

I can see just how difficult this is for you. I didn't know this could happen with GP. The revision surgery should help the situation, but I'm sorry you'll have to go through that all over again. Lets' prary that OHIP will cover it.

I am glad it is being dealt with quickly, and I am looking forward to my appointment in a month. I feel so fortunate to live in a country with public healthcare. Even though OHIP has changed their policy in dealing with my surgical center in the US, I know I will be well looked after and will not be left to fend for myself. I will try to convince the specialist of what I feel is right for me, but I need to approach the situation with an open mind and let the process work. I have faith that it will. It is scary, but all of your positive thoughts and prayers have given me renewal. Thank you.

I am living proof. 6 months ago I was where you are and I know how frightening and upsetting it can be. It still is a struggle on some days but you will get through this and be healthier. I suspect that the bypass length (a bit more than 7 feet) is precisely the problem, and feel lucky to have been able to get an appointment with a specialist within a month, considering how few bariatric facilities there are here versus the demand. Thanks, I seem to have stabilized for now, but only with eating a heck of a lot, and that does not usually make me feel too good. I guess the challenge now is to figure out which foods are high enough in calories, but still make me feel ok. Hope you had a fantastic New Year's!

I do know of another lady who had something similar and her doctor urged her to add more starches to help stall the weightloss... you are in my prayers...

Thank you so much for your prayers Jane. I have been working on adding in more carbs (rice and potatoes) but it has been a little difficult, as I still need to make sure to get in my protein. I'll let you know how thing work out. :)

will they let you do corn is that too hard to digest for you? seems like the potatos alone would do it..mashed to be able to fit better in your pouch.... gosh.. I am just thinking and praying and sending you as much positive vibes as i can... <3 <3 <3

Corn is a big no no for me, every time I have had it I have had pain. I have even dumped from corn tortillas. I am still hoping for a drop in my rate of weight loss. This is my 11th month since surgery so it should be slowing down. I am not scared anymore, I know my weight will still go down before it bounces back up, and I am finally ok with that. I have a sister close to my height who was always around 100 lbs and very athletic. I always thought my frame was bigger, but maybe not.

Oy, Denise, can you even believe this. Do you remember the day before surgery when I asked in clinic "what if I only get down to 180, can I diet down to 150?" I never imagined that I might ever be in that 1% to loose too much. I am feeling better emotionally, and my cold is finally letting up. I will keep you and everyone else posted on what happens with OHIP. Should know mid-January.

I thought her excess weight loss was due to the health issues with her kidneys. I might take your advice and ask her about that. Thanks for reminding me she went through something similar. I feel confident now that things will be resolved. :)

Oh girl I'm so sorry to hear about ur complications. I am thinking of you and hope this gets resolved for u very soon. Keep your head up. I know it's upsetting but you will get this done and be healthy again soon. Don't worry about the money because your health is more important. Take care <3

dumb question, but what kind of revision do you get to help you stop lossing weight?

I had an MGB, and the revision is simple, if my surgeon does it. They just move the bypass up the line so the amount of small intestine bypassed is less. I am hoping the specialist here will support my decision, and that it will be approved.

Hey Darcy! I am sure it will get resolved and I will be ok. Truthfully that 1% chance was never a risk I took seriously before. It was only when I saw this past month that things were not slowing down, and then made that trajectory from my spark chart that I realized I was in need of an intervention now. I will let you know what happens. In the meantime I will go and visit my family for the holidays, and get the 411 on the whole situation when I get back for my appointment. XOXOXOX

I can see just how difficult this is for you. I didn't know this could happen with GP. The revision surgery should help the situation, but I'm sorry you'll have to go through that all over again. Lets' prary that OHIP will cover it.

Thanks Catherine. There is about 1% chance of this happening, and I guess I never imagined I would be in that 1%. I am glad it is being dealt with quickly, and I am looking forward to my appointment in a month. In the meantime, I am going to try to relax and enjoy the holidays, as the stress doesn't help the situation. :)

Hey there, my thoughts and prayers are with you for sure. I ask that GOD come into youf life and repair and renew you body. I know that you said that you've been to a dietician but maybe you should research this a lil more. Like under complications of WLS. I will let you know if I come up with anything.Believe it or not this is my worst fear with this whole thing that I may get too small and I don't want that. Prayers are pouring in from me to GOD for you!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so so much for your prayers, it means a lot to me and is very appreciated. I already feel more renewed, and stronger to be able to deal with it. It is interesting how g-d reminds us that we are not alone and how our problems are not insurmountable. Lest we forget here is always someone else who has it much worse. I realized that yet again today. I will make sure I deal with the very best specialists in resolving this, and I know I will be healthy and have a long productive life. :)

My dad is going through the same thing 10ft bypass. I know what you are going through.........I am watching him go through the same. You are for sure in my thoughts and prayers. Stress less that will also make you continue to lose. XO
P.S. I would not wish to have your problem......it is worst then being obese!! Your right.

I am finally feeling less frantic about the situation, and can completely understand how the stress is totally counterproductive. What is your dad doing about the situation? I feel so fortunate to live in a country with public healthcare. Even though OHIP has changed their policy in dealing with my surgical center in the US, I know I will be well looked after and will not be left to fend for myself. I will try to convince the specialist of what I feel is right for me, but I need to approach the situation with an open mind and let the process work. I have faith that it will. It is scary, but all of your positive thoughts and prayers have given me renewal. Thank you.

Take heart. I'll will keep you in my prayers that everything will work out for you. Miracles happen everyday. I am living proof. 6 months ago I was where you are and I know how frightening and upsetting it can be. It still is a struggle on some days but you will get through this and be healthier. Try to rest and de-stress. This is one of those things that you have to give over to God (higher power). I'm here if you need to talk. God Bless ;)

Skyler, thank you so much. I am so glad you let me know about your situation, and I am aware that there might be other issues in play than just my weight loss surgery. I am glad I will be seeing a specialist so quickly so we can start to resolve it. In the meantime I am feeling the wonderful support here, and it is making me feel much more calm and reassured that things will work out. After all, I am dealing with it now, before it has become critical, and I know I will be taken care of. :)

Toni, you are so awesome!! I love you, and I love how much you care for all of us here in this community. I suspect that the bypass length (a bit more than 7 feet) is precisely the problem, and feel lucky to have been able to get an appointment with a specialist within a month, considering how few bariatric facilities there are here versus the demand. I feels your prayers and support like a warm blanket on a cold night, and it is very reassuring. Thank you for sharing yourself with me. :)
