Suing the gov't to change a bad law as is the "American way". This is GREAT!
Civil Disobedience which is the active, professed refusal to obey certain laws, demands, and commands of a government, or of an occupying international power. This is also the American way and this too is GREAT!
HOWEVER, suing the gov't for money in excess of legal fees and compensation actual damages ONLY harms your fellow taxpayers and NOT the politicians or their agents (police) who are exempt from suit.
