New to the whole D&D games and am planning on buying the starter, but with the other large books, like the Heroes of the Fallen Lands, do those come with maps, or no?
i have a ? my bro is a class:fighter and he has 4 powers. the book says to punch out the fighter cards that are called poised assault, battle fury,power strike,and bastion of defense. but there is no bastion of defense card in my starter set. is the bastion of defense card supposes to be in the starter set
this review was unintentionally funny as hell. "wedge" xD me and my friends will be playing this weekend for the first time ever. We have never played any DnD before so im kind of nervous
I figure actual play will decide whether its actually worth picking this up since by this point anyone actually interested in 4e would have at least bought the first set of phb, dmg and monster manual so I'd assume the dm kit, monster vault and this might be worth bothering with if only for the tokens.
@Darkwintre I tried running it with a bunch of people who had never played D&D before. Honestly, the biggest problem with it is the fact that it doesn't come with Pre-Made characters like Keep on the Shadowfell did. Also, the fact that the each monster token has a different monster on either side of it. With the Monster Vault, the tokens all have a single monster each, with the reverse side having a red circle on it to signify that the creature is bloodied.
@SuperGoliath89 Thanks ended up buying this and have to say I wished i just bought the monster Vault instead since this just me feel like wizards thinks we're all suckers or something. Paizo's beginners' box from all appearances comes across as more of a rightful successor to the original box set rather than this 4e taster hidden inside a red box imitation. Sorry I hope you had fun and don't mean to spoil things I just wish I took the earlier advice and bought the monster vault instead!
@DXfan104 If I were to get something like this and they told me I couldn't make my own campaigns, I still would.
I'm not sure how many sessions it'll really go for. It sort of depends on how often you level. 1-3 means you level twice, then have to get new stuff to take characters further. You can also adjust how quickly people get experience, at least in the full version of the rules (although just reduce experience rewards and that pretty much works).

@Darkwintre the monster vault is definitely worth it. The monsters are set up much better. Especially solos.

Have you tried to make a character using that system yet? I'm curious if it's flexible at all.

So I'm not getting this, first of all, if I'm the dungeon master, I can't make up campaigns and I'm paying 20$ just for 4 sessions?

@DXfan104 It's for new players.
And by new players, I mean players who have never even touched an RPG.

Have you actually played 4e before? You seem befuddled by some of the terminology.
