@wikifacts Yeah, there is a level of uncertainty here. It all relies pretty much on that the fusion reactors we're gonna test in the coming decades will perform as expected. We still gonna have enough uranium to fuel our reactors for a century though, at current rate. But fusion is withing grasp, the last decade has been astonishing, fusion really seems viable now! But it is important that we don't waste all our money on that, put most into renewable energy sources we know work.

@wikifacts By the time uranium is depleted, we can most likely produce uranium 233 out of thorium, by bombarding it with neutrons. Problem is we'll have to clean out any impurities to be able to use it in a fission reactor. There are 3 times as much thorium in the world as there is uranium. In about 40-60 years we will be able to burn radioactive waste in fusion generators, in a so called hybrid plant that combines fusion and fission, producing up to 80 times more energy than fission reactors!

@fuunguus Or, I'm not entirely sure it's radioactive waste, might be thorium. Anyways, read it in illustrated science magazine long time ago. Very promising technology! No chance of meltdown as reliable fusion provides the neutrons necessary for fission, the fission it self doesn't provide enough neutrons to start a reaction. And radioactive waste can be destroyed on spot, completely clean energy!
