Guys SERIOUSLY, the people there wouldn't inject a dog without reasonal cause. The dog is going to have SOME pain from the injection. My dogs get injected alllll the time like that without local anethethics. (mind you mine don't react so much). However pain for less pain in the long run is better for that dog. Don't go whinning how its in pain and that it shouldn't have that injection, the alternative is A LOT worse.
