Prison guards probably do make as much, if not more than the average street dealer. But wardens, judges, and defense attorneys definitely don't make tens of millions a year, as a 'kingpin' could. At least not the every day ones. If that were true the richest 2% would be more than 10%.

I work as a DJ quite a bit and when you do that everyone seems to assume that you are a drug store, so I can affirm that quite a lot of people do quite a lot of different things.

The "war on drugs" is more detrimental to society that the actual use/abuse of drugs. By making criminals out of drug addicts we stigmatize and prevent them from seeking the help that they might desire. I've counseled drug addicts and seen the effects of adding shame to their addiction problem. It does absolutely no good and is very counter productive. We need more treatment options and more methadone clinics, not more law enforcement and prisons if we desire to lower the damage to society.
Different drugs have been pushed in different states, specially those of the Midwest, in a sort of directed experiment. After getting the young people addicted, they try different pharmaceutical "cures", making them dependent for life to legal drugs, albeit expensive. Too many people make money off drugs to ever make them legal. Average Detective or DEA Agent makes more than a mid level drug dealer. Average Prison Guard makes more than a successful street dealer. Judges, Prison Wardens and Defense Attorneys make as much as a Drug "Kingpin". Everybody makes a LOT of Money, except the poor guy who get's 10 years for holding 3 grams of rock...

Prison guards probably do make as much, if not more than the average street dealer. But wardens, judges, and defense attorneys definitely don't make tens of millions a year, as a 'kingpin' could. At least not the every day ones. If that were true the richest 2% would be more than 10%.

Either way I have to agree with the number guy. Everyone is on drugs being defined as the majority of the population might not be far off with my experience. I work as a DJ quite a bit and when you do that everyone seems to assume that you are a drug store, so I can affirm that quite a lot of people do quite a lot of different things.

The "war on drugs" is more detrimental to society that the actual use/abuse of drugs. By making criminals out of drug addicts we stigmatize and prevent them from seeking the help that they might desire. I've counseled drug addicts and seen the effects of adding shame to their addiction problem. It does absolutely no good and is very counter productive. We need more treatment options and more methadone clinics, not more law enforcement and prisons if we desire to lower the damage to society.

Different drugs have been pushed in different states, specially those of the Midwest, in a sort of directed experiment. After getting the young people addicted, they try different pharmaceutical "cures", making them dependent for life to legal drugs, albeit expensive.
