  • dont see how its out of tune. hes in a different tuning....

  • perfect

  • You can tell he was definitely nervous in this performance. Alas, he is still human

  • he looks like julio cortozar in black and white

  • He sings so high and loud, but it always sounds pretty.

  • I wish I was around to see Jesus, I can't say if they really look alike. But Robin does look like a baller, bad ass and or boss.

  • Unreal.

  • Wow he looks just like Jesus.!..now I feel like another ignorant idiot

  • i love him

  • OLIVER JAMES IS A FICTIONAL PERSON THE FLEET FOXES HAVE MADE UP. I'M ASSUMING HE'S A YOUNG MAN WHO WAS KNOWN BY THE FAMILY MEMBERS DESCRIBES IN THE SONG. HE PASSED AWAY WITHOUT A PROPER BURIAL AND WAS LEFT IN THE RAIN. THIS SONG IS ABOUT EVERYONE PUTTING ASIDE THIER DIFFERENCE TO PAY RESPECTS. IT'S ABOUT LOSS, AND FAMILY, AND REVERENCE, AND TELLS A BEAUTIFUL STORY.

  • can anyone say... on drugs??

  • @Antfj what makes you think he's on drugs... i'm pretty sure it's hard to sing that well on drugs

  • @Antfj

you are so stupid, either you are judging due to his looks or because of the song which in that case every writer or singer is on drugs

  • @KFCBUCKETS I'm joking you moron.

I love fleet foxes. I just think this performance, his facial expressions make him look a bit... spaced out haha.

And who are you to say he's not on drugs there?

You don't know, the same as me.

It's not my fault that I have prejudices against people + drugs in bands. Unfortunately, drugs and bands go hand in hand. Kings of leon... Nirvana... drugs + drugs. Still two awesome bands (with awesome singers btw bigd).

    Liiiggghteeen up.

  • @Antfj - Drugs and bands dont go hand in hand. Drugs and people go hand in hand.

  • jesus is back home

  • He sounds so passionate about his music. I love him.

  • so beautiful

  • I've seen on the rock werchter festival 2009 in belgium and it was soo damn hot but they chilled me with they're performance i had goosebumps all the time! theyre superb in every way

  • SASQUATCH FESTIVAL 2010

  • Flawless performance.

  • You've obviously grown up in the age of MTV that equates music with looks.

  • yer man

    its not bout looks

    fuck you mtv

  • Haha! Nothing wrong with that!

Everyone is a little funny looking.

  • thats so hot

  • great! genial! bravissimi!

  • Robin Pecknold's birth name was Jesus. Just so you know.

    Ahah.

  • Id believe it...

  • one of the most talented bands in the country, definitely deserves more publicity.

  • I think without all the publicity, they are great because it makes them more raw. They have enough publicity as it is, but they are amazing.

  • no way. i hope they don't. Mainstream destroys things.

I hope these guys keep kicking it like this. Great stuff.

    Amazing all around

  • ya i agree, mainstream is shit, just saying that more people should listen to this.

  • I no what you were saying. They're awesome. They deserve any success they get.

I just like when bands stay under the radar. Not to make me feel cool about knowing "underground" bands. I just like the vibe. When you go to a small show. The live acts seem so much more energetic and pure.

Being able to see a band and get up front, or have to see them behind 50k people.

Sometimes it loses some of the magic.

  • This is mostly true, but not always. Death Cab for Cutie is fairly mainstream and yet they still seem magical. I hope they do not go mainstream, but I will love them either way.

  • Arrr......I just saw them for the first time in here in the D and he played this. I couldn't believe how talented this gent was as well as the rest of the band, all across the board! The most charizmatic band I've ever seen live by far!

  • i love this song so muchh.

i saw robin walking incredibly fast through dance east at glastonbury this year but he was going so fast i couldn't get a picture :[

  • At least you've seen him. I really would love to see them live. Living in northern Washington State all my life, I've visited many of the places they've alluded to in songs (Ruby Beach, Tiger Mountain...)

  • my town (Front Royal) is the entrance to the blue ridge mountains :)

  • Same =] I frequently hike to Tiger Mountain Peak. The birds at the top will land on you and eat from your palm without any fear. I can always imagine that voice ringing through the fog up there. Gorgeous.

  • Arr his thumbs got a mind of it's own, I can't keep that bass line going and play the melody over the top like he does it.

  • i know! guess it's among the gentle arts of folk guitar

  • practice practice practice

  • I just heard them for the first time last evening. I was blown away. I am looking forward to getting my hands on a CD of theirs soon so I can really immerse myself in them. Downloaded a couple tunes to my MP3 n the meanwhile. Just astounding and beautiful. Words fail me...trying to describe how fantastic i find their sound.

  • try listening to bon Iver i think a similar beautiful sound :)

  • Seattle's Fleet Foxes are led by vocalist/guitarist Robin Pecknold, who fashioned his band's earthy, harmony-rich sound in honor of such perennial '60s artists as Bob Dylan, Neil Young, the Zombies, and the Beach Boys. Mixing baroque pop with elements of classic rock and British folk, the band took shape in 2006 as Pecknold was joined by guitarist Skyler Skjelset, bassist Bryn Lumsden, drummer Nicholas Peterson, and keyboardist Casey Wescott. . No Oliver here.

  • the name of the song is OLIVER james dude

  • yes DUDE that's why i typed the above, some seemed to think that the singer was Oliver, read before you comment dumbass.

  • sounds like he's saying "all of her jeans, washed in the rain"

awesome song btw and my name is Oliver so i feel slightly obliged to appreciate it

  • why ? there is not anyone in the band named Oliver.

  • yo wtf, that was sooo not wat i thought it was gonna b, where the f*** i oliver???

  • Who's Oliver?

  • theres some english entertainer named oliver james, think that might have been who they were looking for.

  • yep, that man is the shit.

  • Amazing.

  • i love this man

  • This song must mean a lot to him. I saw emotion though out the song. Even at the end it looked hard for him to finish, must be about a sad moment in his life.

  • Is that Kyle Orton ?????? jejejeje

  • That's awesome,ha.

  • gah man... his voice is just so...

    perfect.

And I love how he always puts a reverb on it live...

Gives it such a ghostly type quality..

    so pretty...

  • Comment removed

  • hahahah i did not mean to say that!!! me and my friend were just typing weird things to hear the audio preview because its funny and i accidently pushed enter. I LOVE fleet Foxes very much

  • lol

  • you are ugly so ugly and will live alone forever and ever

  • Robin plays a Martin Right? I'm just a little mislead by the double pickguards

  • Dear Fleet Foxes,

    You rock my world.

  • is that oliver james? the one in raise your voice? please reply! please!!

  • No.

  • This is Fleet Foxes and its much much better!

  • Thanks for posting this! I always thought this was one of the better tunes on the CD. I am thrilled to see it live since it really is understated beauty. Thanks again for sharing!

  • if you dont like it, dont watch it. Please fuck off

  • it's great! it sucks! who cares! it's your opinion. what ruins music or any art for that matter? when the artist cares what someone thinks. rock on OJ. you make my days better.

  • Are YOU serious? Weak? Out of tune? What are you talking about? You must have a terrible time listening to music if you can't appreciate this performance. You must not be able to understand or feel any music at all if you can't glean in some small way a bit of passion and power from this. Open your ears and your heart simultaneously and then you may find that there is a world of exquisite beauty out there in the form of sound that you once condescendingly dejected and belittled.

  • and you can sing???? post away friend.. post away

  • hahahaha amzingly wrong. you must have tried really hard to be as wrong as you possibly could right there. im going to take the liberty of assuming that you meant the polar opposite of what you said.

    douchebag.

  • beautiful voice

  • love

  • Beautiful live version eclipses the album version. Thanks for a good quality recording and for sharing!

  • Robin's got such a great voice!

  • don't get me wrong when i say this, i'm a huge iron and wine fan... but you need to broaden your horizons.

if you listen to stuff from the 70's like crosby, stills, nash, and young, you may realize that even iron and wine takes influences from those guys, and i think it would be fair to say that they have a better grasp of the style than he does.

  • Dag yo, even though you are being entirely inoffensive and simply stating your opinion, people are all kinds of unhappy about you, and keep giving you thumbs down! Ha. Youtube is a place where it doesn't matter what you say, you are wrong.

It's okay though, i support your right to like one band more then another...

  • I get what you're saying; its simply that Beam is a really emotional/heart-searching songwriter, where Foxes are more balladic and storytelling. Beam has a lot more in common with Everett of EELS than Fleet Foxes in these terms. Foxes seem to not quite delve into this emotional exploration, possibly because they're a five peice rather than solo artist, and it seems a lot more simple on the surface because of this; but I find that's part of their charm.

  • i'm so pissed i missed this show.

  • i feel bad when i don't hear a crowd. they deserve a good cheer from a good crowd.

  • They had the longest cheer after they performed that I've ever heard at any show. It was glorious.

  • really. that makes me feel better haha. i saw some videos and it didn't seem like they got a good cheer.

i'd love to see them live

  • @chickenflicker Those are the best shows. People really listen to the music, instead of screaming. Then give a well deserved ovation at the end.

  • same here. they cut the video too soon!

  • I don't hear Buckley at all... Just because they can both sing I suppose. There's not many real singers in indie these days. This guy can.

  • really? the first thing i thought when I first heard this song was that he reminded me of jeff buckley. maybe it's the song. it sounds a bit like something buckley would have done.

  • doesn't sound like buckley at all. maybe the way he ends words every once in a while. I would say that both have great tone, but both could use a little more annunciation.

  • yeah exactly buckley is definetly a one time only

  • This did remind me of Buckley - but only that they both have powerful voices, not the song itself.

  • yeah but i think Buckley is hard to beat. Both his voice and passion, personality, everything. Very sad he passed.

  • His voice reminds me of Jeff Buckley a little, I really like this album

  • this is incredible. so....raw,

  • His voice is amazing. Point blank! Annnnd he's pretty cute. Haha. (:

  • This song is good...but Tiger Mountain Peasant Song is enough to bring tears...that might be the most emotionally engaging song of 2008 by anybody.

  • not a good statement.... you aren't going to hear them all.

  • But a very flattering compliment towards the f.f.

  • certainly.

  • saw them at bowery tonight...this song was amazing. everything was so amazing.

  • i love it

  • Simply perfect

  • crosby stills nash and young are proud

  • agreed, i cannot stop listening to it. great stuff.

  • just picked up the new album. Fucking love it. The album version of this song is emaculate.

  • this album is going to be on a lot of top 10 album of the year lists. right now it's my favorite of 2008 and the Sun Giant Ep is incredible too.

  • Terrific...wow wow wow.

  • What a voice... Wow.

  • good sound, nice work!

  • Agreed. :D

  • amazing
