A british band that you might like that are similar to Fleet Foxes are called The FOSSIL COLLECTIVE. Go and check out the video for On and On. Its very good. Bye Bye xx
OLIVER JAMES IS A FICTIONAL PERSON THE FLEET FOXES HAVE MADE UP. I'M ASSUMING HE'S A YOUNG MAN WHO WAS KNOWN BY THE FAMILY MEMBERS DESCRIBES IN THE SONG. HE PASSED AWAY WITHOUT A PROPER BURIAL AND WAS LEFT IN THE RAIN. THIS SONG IS ABOUT EVERYONE PUTTING ASIDE THIER DIFFERENCE TO PAY RESPECTS. IT'S ABOUT LOSS, AND FAMILY, AND REVERENCE, AND TELLS A BEAUTIFUL STORY.
I love fleet foxes. I just think this performance, his facial expressions make him look a bit... spaced out haha.
And who are you to say he's not on drugs there?
You don't know, the same as me.
It's not my fault that I have prejudices against people + drugs in bands. Unfortunately, drugs and bands go hand in hand. Kings of leon... Nirvana... drugs + drugs. Still two awesome bands (with awesome singers btw bigd).
I've seen on the rock werchter festival 2009 in belgium and it was soo damn hot but they chilled me with they're performance i had goosebumps all the time! theyre superb in every way
I no what you were saying. They're awesome. They deserve any success they get.
I just like when bands stay under the radar. Not to make me feel cool about knowing "underground" bands. I just like the vibe. When you go to a small show. The live acts seem so much more energetic and pure.
Being able to see a band and get up front, or have to see them behind 50k people.
This is mostly true, but not always. Death Cab for Cutie is fairly mainstream and yet they still seem magical. I hope they do not go mainstream, but I will love them either way.
Arrr......I just saw them for the first time in here in the D and he played this. I couldn't believe how talented this gent was as well as the rest of the band, all across the board! The most charizmatic band I've ever seen live by far!
At least you've seen him. I really would love to see them live. Living in northern Washington State all my life, I've visited many of the places they've alluded to in songs (Ruby Beach, Tiger Mountain...)
Same =] I frequently hike to Tiger Mountain Peak. The birds at the top will land on you and eat from your palm without any fear. I can always imagine that voice ringing through the fog up there. Gorgeous.
I just heard them for the first time last evening. I was blown away. I am looking forward to getting my hands on a CD of theirs soon so I can really immerse myself in them. Downloaded a couple tunes to my MP3 n the meanwhile. Just astounding and beautiful. Words fail me...trying to describe how fantastic i find their sound.
Seattle's Fleet Foxes are led by vocalist/guitarist Robin Pecknold, who fashioned his band's earthy, harmony-rich sound in honor of such perennial '60s artists as Bob Dylan, Neil Young, the Zombies, and the Beach Boys. Mixing baroque pop with elements of classic rock and British folk, the band took shape in 2006 as Pecknold was joined by guitarist Skyler Skjelset, bassist Bryn Lumsden, drummer Nicholas Peterson, and keyboardist Casey Wescott. . No Oliver here.
This song must mean a lot to him. I saw emotion though out the song. Even at the end it looked hard for him to finish, must be about a sad moment in his life.
hahahah i did not mean to say that!!! me and my friend were just typing weird things to hear the audio preview because its funny and i accidently pushed enter. I LOVE fleet Foxes very much
Thanks for posting this! I always thought this was one of the better tunes on the CD. I am thrilled to see it live since it really is understated beauty. Thanks again for sharing!
it's great! it sucks! who cares! it's your opinion. what ruins music or any art for that matter? when the artist cares what someone thinks. rock on OJ. you make my days better.
Are YOU serious? Weak? Out of tune? What are you talking about? You must have a terrible time listening to music if you can't appreciate this performance. You must not be able to understand or feel any music at all if you can't glean in some small way a bit of passion and power from this. Open your ears and your heart simultaneously and then you may find that there is a world of exquisite beauty out there in the form of sound that you once condescendingly dejected and belittled.
hahahaha amzingly wrong. you must have tried really hard to be as wrong as you possibly could right there. im going to take the liberty of assuming that you meant the polar opposite of what you said.

Not sure if I'm digging these guys. Its probably just because no one can touch Iron & Wine for folk songwriting, so everything else just seems a little bland.
don't get me wrong when i say this, i'm a huge iron and wine fan... but you need to broaden your horizons.
if you listen to stuff from the 70's like crosby, stills, nash, and young, you may realize that even iron and wine takes influences from those guys, and i think it would be fair to say that they have a better grasp of the style than he does.

Oh I love the classics, but the lyrics that Sam Beam puts together are only rivaled by Dylan, in my opinion. When bands try this style, the lyrics have to absolutely untouchable - and from what I've heard from these guys so far, they aren't there yet. They're very talented, and the songs are clean and crisp, but the lyrics don't give me chills.
Dag yo, even though you are being entirely inoffensive and simply stating your opinion, people are all kinds of unhappy about you, and keep giving you thumbs down! Ha. Youtube is a place where it doesn't matter what you say, you are wrong.
It's okay though, i support your right to like one band more then another...
I get what you're saying; its simply that Beam is a really emotional/heart-searching songwriter, where Foxes are more balladic and storytelling. Beam has a lot more in common with Everett of EELS than Fleet Foxes in these terms. Foxes seem to not quite delve into this emotional exploration, possibly because they're a five peice rather than solo artist, and it seems a lot more simple on the surface because of this; but I find that's part of their charm.
really? the first thing i thought when I first heard this song was that he reminded me of jeff buckley. maybe it's the song. it sounds a bit like something buckley would have done.
doesn't sound like buckley at all. maybe the way he ends words every once in a while. I would say that both have great tone, but both could use a little more annunciation.
