There might have been another piece in place to checkmate him, or the rook simply blocked the last escape route the king could have taken. There is one thing, and this would be what is REALLY awesome about >2 person chess, Sheldon could have asked Leonard not to kill his king and in return he would somehow stop Howard's checkmate on Leonard. I really need to find this game somehow or make up my own lol (:

But if Leonard's in check, and he checkmates Sheldon (thus he does not move out of or block check), couldn't Howard just capture Leonard's king? Unless of course Sheldon's multiplayer variant is not an elimination type...also why did Sheldon add a transporter pad? The strategy is less abstract now. :|
@multipurpose101 i think its elimination but leonards move could have also blocked howards move (by moving the beekeeper, also if you have three boards meeting there needs to be three colours mimimum, the remaining squares need to be able to be used so sheldon turned them into transporter and time machine squares, also strategy is still there such as leonards move,the transporter pad is more for an escape if your piece is in danger, fact: original chess had pieces like giraffe and elephant
Since Scrubs i didn't laugh so hard, not only this scene, but TBBT is a priceless series, and i love how the 4 girls are interacting with the group and between them. Hope this continues for years and years :D

I CALL BULLCRAP!! Leonard never moved out of the check he was put into by Howard, this would make Leonard's checkmate on Sheldon impossible!!
