you all should come to lake cumberlan we had a scubadiver go sown to fix the dam one day and he quit his job cause he said he saw a catfish about half the size of a school bus and hes been diving for over 20 years

@32anderson69 Truth be told i've similar stories to that one for almost every major lake = ) Including Lake Texoma here in Texas and Oklahoma. I love the stories though. The story here is three of them went down to inspect the spill way and say a cat the size of a VW. Needless to say they came up screaming

@HalfixPain I used to Live in Las Vegas and I heard the SAME story, only it was Hover Dam they were talking about. The lake Hover holds back is Lake Mead, The Largest man made lake in the US. I believe what they said about fish there!

Could I ask a rod question? You mentioned the Surge Elite & Catfish Safari rods. Do you have any opinions on TWC (Tangling With Catfish) rods &/or Bone Island custom rods? Would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!

@pnutbutrncrackers I have used the TWC original rod and it seems to be a pretty good all around rod at a good price. I have never used the Bone Island rods before. Personally I have stuck with the Surge Elites because they are durrable and I like the way they perform for the type of fishing that I do. Any of the rods you have listed will get the job done for most catfishing situations.

@TheJerseyChimpmunk We like to use bait that is local to our waters that we fish. The fresher the better! We use shad, skipjack, mooneye and asian carp primarily in the waters we fish. We catch our skipjack with small jigs and sabiki rigs while we catch the majority of the rest with a cast net. Don't be affraid to throw big baits, sometimes you feel rediculous throwing a two pound bait out but the blue cat is an eating machine.

I hear that bigcats only get that big in area's where the waters are bad so you cant eat the fish, so they just eat and grow and keep on growing. Great for fishing but bad for eating, I love to eat catfish. Where are you guys located?
