Our company manufacturers 12 gauge less lethal bean bag munitions for law enforcement. The words less lethal means the munitions can be lethal if improperly deployed. @hookerface007 slug is used for home defense only if you hate your neighbors and anyone else within 10 sheets of drywall, because most likely after killing whoever you just shot that 1 OZ. lead ball if its not a defragmenting projectile will punch through at least 8-10 sheets of 5/8 drywall and might still have the energy to cause serious bodily harm

Bird shot returns to the earth at the typical angle you shoot at, could only really hurt you if it hits you in the eye. the bb's reach a terminal velocity upon decent that is harmless. at close range however, bird shot would tare your body apart in 1000 different places making it more difficult to stop bleeding and a also gives a chance to do more internal damage to multiple organs. both would hurt

How many yards wuld you say that was? It did take a whole for the projectile reached, but I like the effect. I'm getting this or rubber ball shot to put infront of a round of bird and a round of 00 buck multi layer protection.
@ELuna3693 actually its called "less than lethal". People have also died by slingshots and bb guns. If there was a mess up with the amo, i think i would be more worried about an actual shotgun shell then a slug. But thank you for your input.

These arnt the best weapon for self defence. They accully use these mostly for riot control and stuff. If you want protection pepper spray and a 50,000 volt stun gun work :p there are also rubber type rounds that can be shot from hand guns. carrying around a shotgun probably wont do you any good.
@JTyler52 haha no a shotgun is a very very slow draw, and bean bag shot is highly inaccurate. Rubber bullets are much better if you don't want to use real bullets/real shotgun shells.
For self defense nothing beats the 12g with buckshot. The person you are trying to defend yourself against did not come prepared with less than lethal rounds thinking in your best interest. Therefore it would be pointless and foolish to arm yourself with such a weapon. 00 Buckshot dude.

i got some 40 gram ones, theyre nasty. ment for 6-12 yards but is effective at 25. in home defence that bastard is getting one or two yards max.
