I saw shame on the inconsiderate, stuck up homer idiots thinking that they're better than the town they all came from. Lockport residents should pay to do whatever they want. If the selfish jack asses from homer want their own highschool, pay for it yourselves.
People shouldnt be worried about this building!!! She's an old gal but she wont fall down. They just need to update the building. Love to see what Lockport east will look like in 10 yrs from now. Not as good as this building. I was on the tech crew at east and our ceiling was leaking, also the whole floor stunk in between the stage and shop. They dont build them like they use too!!!!
i agree with jms4771, i was a student last year at central, frankly they are over exagerating the issues, I know that I never saw any of the isues, the tile floor there covers a small section of the school, with about 4 classrooms, and 2 bathrooms, we werent scared of the school falling down, it would have done that already, we were more scared of the ghosts coming to get us
What a bunch of fear mongering! I’m sure if you looked at any "old" building similar issues would be found. Perhaps we need to tear down Lockport City Hall and all of State Street and the entire historic district while we are it. This is just another attempt to pass a referendum that has repeatedly failed by playing the “Won’t someone think about the children!” card. Shame on them for using fear to advance their political agenda.
@jms4771 thank you for your comments. I agree this is nothing but an attempt to scare the voters into a referendum. Since the normal political process hasn't worked for years, I guess now is the time to use the condition of Central as the ammunition. Bill Thompson should be fired or at least reprimanded for his open participation in this video.
I am worried for the children in the school after viewing this. I am shocked that the fire department hasn't shut down the school for all of it's dangers. I understand that the school had met codes as it had additions, but when the number of students increased, the codes that were grandfathered in were no longer applicable. All who are aware of this situation have a duty to the safety of the district's children, to discontinue use of this building. A new academic building is needed ASAP.
After seeing this video of the dangers of the school, I feel sick about having sent two of my three children there. Of course I was aware that the school was founded in 1906, but I didn't realize that the physical building is still of the standards of that era, wood beam construction now dry and extremely flammable, trucks with gasoline parked inside, boilers over 60 years old, leaky pipes in walls with friable cloth covered electrical wiring, out of code fire safety doors and narrow escape hallways

I was surprised by the issues. There is more information about the cost of repairs to bring central campus up to code on the lths website.
