A few years ago someone showed me a photo book about RoXy Amsterdam in its early years. There were some interesting pics in it. I've seen an old party friend of mine in a drag outfit. Been looking for that book since then, but couldn't find it, probably it had limited issue. Has anyone ever heard about this book?
House came into Amsterdam/Holland through the RoXY in 1988, and I was there, that summer, interested in what this new "house" stuff was and how to dance on it... Wednesdays was the gay night till RoXY burned down in 1999, on my birthday...
June 21st is my bday too! Unluckily day when it burnt down....I used to party there in the late 80's...lord the music was sooo awesome.....and always hanged out with the brazilian go go boys Victor and Jair that always got in costume in the empty rooms on the highest floor of the club....we used to sit in a window up there and just see all the people coming into the club....memories......
In the 50's it was a movie theatre. My mother was in there with a new lover, my father waiting outside with a large knife (not too seriously though). My mother and friend had to run for the emergency exit in the other street. My father followed them on his scooter, with the knife in his hand... Well, obviously it helped them to come back together, otherwise i couldn't have written this :-)

Uitgaan lijkt me veel leuker in die tijd dan nu, betere muziek, betere sfeer, etc..
