I'm from Chiriqui and I have never been to Colon city. However, I am proud of the province as a whole and I think many Panamanians should be because many of our best athletes come from there. They represent our black side of our "crisol de razas y culturas" identity concept. Colon is also where our black traditions lie. I wish more black people came to Panama. I'm mestizo but my dad is mostly black and my mom criolla (non-caucasian white). Saludos, arriba Colon y arriba Panama!

This is Panama's Detroit. I heard that while they were filming James Bond here, they used the Colon as Haiti in movie, they had to clean it up a bit. I have not been back for 20 years, my grandmother still lived there, but it's reputation was well deserved.

The natives are usually nice as should be, but there are some that are not quite peaceful. Try not to look like a target, as in : Wearing lots of jewelry, Constantly asking for directions, etc. It's not the best place for tourism but there are things there that you can't see anywhere else ^^.

I remember those streets too i was on FT.Davis and i spent many a Friday and Saturday night partying on them and many a sunday morning stumbling on them.And I also remember the EL MORO, the Cassanova, Micheles and a bunch more.

To clue you in the recent past colon was neglected because they had planned to use the entire colon as a free zone. Thereby the neglected so as to force people to move out to the carretera.... This white person (and i am just about as white as we come) got out and walked around quite a bit. Honestly I did not have the balls to carry the camera around and shoot when walking, but overall I found colon less deserving of the bad reputation it has. Possibly it has cleaned up in the recent past? I wish I would have got some video from a regular day, I will be back soon and will try, the video does it no justice as the normal day is much busier.

first of all colon has not some of the most diverse cultures in the world but because of this big melting pot the people are beautiful. the food is better than anything a white person could cook times 100. if you dont know please dont speak.
