As a crafty theist :-P I would define a God as undetectable (obviously), not interfering, but also as a creator of everything and a caring and loving being (sort of "I love you, I feel your pain, but I won't interfere, sorry" :-P). That kind of God could be worshiped as a creator and also can be loved back, so it's existence would be useful. :-)
