This car only arrived in NZ about two weeks ago and was so impressed with the drive, quality, design etc I ordered one.
I'm a staunch Honda person and love my 07 8th gen Civic but moving forward I don't see a huge improvement of the 9th, even maybe a step backwards, it's a great shame.
Our Elantra will arrive in about three weeks ex Korea then the Civic will be replaced and the Elantra will take prime spot in the garage alongside our Jazz(Fit).

I am perplexed, can someone really tell me they would rather have heated rear seats versus automatic climate control. How about dual-zone? Or HID's? Hyundai is going after gimmicks. A real contender would outfit their vehicles with these types of features before ever venturing into the realm of heated rear seats. Plus, I drove this car and it was absent of any driving dynamics. It simply drove like a mush-box. On a final no one ever talks about the doors sounding hollow, weird!

@madant1977 In the U.S. the Elantra hits the sweet spot of what inexpensive, compact buyers want; great styling and lots of stuff in a package that feels anything but cheap...oh and 40mpg isn't a bad throw in either. It drives as well as anyone shopping it is going to need.

Now let's keep in mind you're driving a $20k family car with a 1.8-liter engine, however I found the Elantra's lean weight to give it a lot of flexibility and quick steering reactions. True... I'm not really a fan of sync myFORD touch so my opinion is biased. It feels more like an experiment that needs real refinement. The new Chrysler/Dodge technology is better IMO but who knows when they will make a worthwhile compact car again.
why does ford always get left out of the smaller car comparisons? the new 2012 ford focus is epic and a huge step in the right direction but I only hear talk about hyundai, toyota and honda....

Hyundai is definitely firing on ALL cylinders.
They are truly a company to invest in if you haven't done so.
To add, the Elantra is built right here in America at the Montgomery, Alabama plant right next to the Sonata.
The demand has been exceeding supply and Hyundai has sold every single car that came out of the factory.
The demand is so great that Hyundai is having to contemplate building yet another factory here in America.
