In Latvia this is a normal practise to stay ready for trip in few minutes - because enough level for WW is only some times in year - and in such situation is possible missing.
Strainers. This is only what give some skill in Latvia. There is no more fun in LV like Class II - and strainers without previous checking of river give +1 class for skill&fun. In this case it was a first descent of river, by the way.

people. You don't have the skills to paddle in this kind of conditions. Even a class 2 that this is, with strainers added, can be dangerous.
And you don't have the experience to even realize it. That's a really bad combination.
It's all a laugh right until some of you get pinned under a tree and you watch him die not 3 meters far from you. You already had a very good chance of that happening under that little bridge.
At 2:16 I hope the guy appreciates how close he came to never going home again. Only because no one died can we now laugh at this clip. They have all the equipment but no training and no common sense. They do seem like a fun, friendly bunch and I do hope they learn safety and technique before they lose a friend. BTW, the music is awesome and though maybe not the best technique it was certainly the most heartfelt pole dancing I've ever seen. (Didn't really turn me on though *LOL*)

This is great material from a coaching point of view. I can use this to show my students the dangers of inexperience on waterways. The dangers Associated with buying extreme sports equipment and placing yourself well outside your ability level without even considering training or tuition.
