  • Sat on a flight today with Robin

Widdows whose one and only f1 race was this Brit GP in 1968. He had better days in F2 and sports cars. Claim to fame is that he is one of only 4 to have competed in F1 and Olympics (bobsleigh). Very nice chap. Still going strong and now lives in Mallorca.

  • @RedhotIta1 wrong,,,

ford financed the cosworth racing effort from the mid 60's,

and then was with Tyrell during the mid 70's,

  • @kirkconway nope, Never Ford entred in F1. My dad follows F1 racing from 1966-1968 (Born in 1960) And the Ford, in F1 was just Engines. Of Course in 1970's the engines was Matra, Climax, Ford, and Ferrari. Most used the Ford.

  • I was 16 years old in 1968 and a big F1 fan. Used to watch these races on tv, Thanks for posting this great footage, some good memories!

  • @jack887 You are a lucky man Jack. This is the real F1, not these boring races we watch today.

  • @jack887 Were any of these races broadcast live?

  • @AlanMcB I doubt that they were live, but were broadcast fairly often on tv, I believe on Wide World of Sports. I remember watching with horror when Lorenzo Bandini was killed at Monte Carlo in 1967. Just last month, I met a fellow race fan about my age, and we were reminiscing about the old days of Formula One. He watched the same Monte Carlo broadcast, and also remembers Bandini's fiery crash.
