they'll go down as one of the most important acts of our generation.
gb, a. collective, the walkmen, beach house, fleet foxes...a few minds that will make future generations look back and say..."i love the 00's was wrong...it wasn't all Britney, Pharrell and American Idol winners back then."
@deframecourt i feel as if grizzly bear and animal collective are the ones to define this generation in this genre. not necessarily beach house and fleet foxes (even though they are both great). but definitely not the walkmen. no offense.
your right very similar, but i honestly think the fleet foxes and grizzly bear have very different sounds and it was just chance that the intros both sound the same. fleet foxes and grizzly bear are both great bands.

just make mp3s of all the grizzly bear video's on youtube and then you have your live album and you can stop complaining. you people. no wonder people hate their fans.
Maaan, its not up to you what musicians do or dont do, quit bitching at watch the damn video, go to the concert, buy the cd, tell everyone you know you love them, but DONT say " oh it would be better if they did this and that, what are they thinking? " art is in the hands of those who make it, not those who consume it........and they arent overproduced. its just a differnt sound then live. it gives you TWO different bands to listen to.
totally agree... live performance is usually a chance for bands to be creative with how they present songs they've already produced... Grizzly Bear are amazing.. their albums are'nt overproduced.. everything they did to produce their albums just adds to its magnificance. Their live shows are a oppurtunity to see it in its raw form.
There's a pretty simple explanation actually. Recorded versions give you the ability to explore your creative without limitation. A live performance is such a limited environment (especially on a low budget) it's almost impossible to perform complex music with only a few musicians. In the studio you get to take advantage of the textural qualities of a wide variety of instruments and production techniques. This is nearly impossible live.
thats just amazing

They overproduce their CDS, unfortunately. I saw 'em live a little while ago and I couldn't help but wonder why they do it.

I hope they release a live album.

Me too. And I have to say, I was a little disappointed with their album Horn of Plenty. It's exactly what I don't like about their studio recordings.
