  • Oh yes. The USA invaded Europe to impose our system of Economics and Banking…We’re the good guys(?)

Would it not be ironic if the true good guys were Germany/Adolf Hitler - Nationalized Banking - and the USA/Roosevelt were the bad guys? What did these D-Day American GI’s go on? LIFE magazine? Hollywood? Donald Duck? Roosevelt with meaning less rhetoric one speech after another? American GI’s were drafted - whether they like it or not. Question history….

  • have cristifori's dream as background music :D

  • @hallyupiano An excellent suggestion. However, I believe I would have to re-create the entire video to add the background music and replace the video entirely. Rather late for that I think. But thanks for the suggestion, I listened to the music and do think it appropriate.

  • Happy Veterans' Day 11/11/2011.

We kicked Hitler's ass...thanks to the brave men who stormed the beaches of Normandy.

  • i'm reading Conrad Black's excellent biography of FDR. As I read the text of this speech, I thought it would be better if I could hear it. Thank you for both the audio and the excellent images. I appreciate your efforts and commend you on a simply superb piece of work

  • my great grandfather got off the boats on d-day, and my grandfather flew b-52s during this war.

it's crazy when you think about it.

they lived more than i ever will.

  • i don't see why you need to argue politics on YouTube comments under a video of the president praying for safety of the American soldiers . . . not to mention that every political party from the beginning of time causes tyranny so republican/democrat is fucking pointless . . . but you shouldn't argue via internet you should argue in the traditional way . . . behind a sword !!!

  • If the people who fought WWII were indeed The Greatest Generation, don't you think it must have been largely because this man brought out the best in them?

  • @louisa1832 its because roose was a fucking boss! im a 90's baby, but i know who the greatest president in our history was and will always be. god bless roose.

  • The greatest U.S Democrat President in history

  • our forefathers warned against creating parties, they said it would create division among the people. apparently they foretold correctly which is evidenced by the comments i have read. our leaders should have character and a conscious and that seems to be in small supply. unity is the key to conquering division and until people decide to put differences aside and focus on the crucial matters tha timpact us as a whole we will continue to decline as a country.

  • @cuntnugget94 Human nature doesn't work that way.

  • I know he's from New York, but it sounds like he has a Rhode Island accent. My mom is from RI, and she has the same accent.

  • Just shut up people. Stop dishonoring our forefathers and remember that they gave their lives so you can talk out your ass in English not German.

  • I wish we still had this level of patriotism... these days we have to find every reason to HATE America. I feel like if one person shows patriotism there is an army to snuff him/her out. I blame the 60's.

  • Indeed. Roosevelt was a caring and unselfish human-being. It was a great shame that he died before the war ended.

  • Wow! What an awesome speech!

  • what happen to us....were all lost now . long live the words of F.D.R........

  • A nation of tears following its sons and daughters into war. A dark hour to face the ruthless, evil enemy. For all who said the world was better then, we would say, "Remember when". For all who say it will never happen, we would say, "Remember how". Let our hearts follow kindness and fortitude. Let us learn and educate. Let us live and let live. Let our hearts join in prayers. It will not matter who we are. We may pray in Temple, Synagogue, Church and Mosque. Let us not hate.

  • Let's pretend that WWII was, as conservatives have long claimed, the event that really ended the Depression -- as if the federal programs prior to the war had no effect.

What was WWII economically, after all, but a massive program of government spending resulting in maximum employment, growth of the work force, and full utilization of industrial capacity. Fortunately, we won with our economy barely touched after the war, ensuring our superiority in the world economy for the next 25 years or so.

  • @SSArcher11 You do not know your history, and do not know depression and WWII economics. Also, you should know that conservatives do not believe in Kansyian theory. If WWII ended the depression, why didn't our economy collapse after the war? It largely had to do with the 1944 Bretton Woods monetary agreement and a less intrusive government. Government spending did not end the depression. Read John Tamny article "World War II Did Not End the Great Depression"

  • @zymurg2007 The New Deal set-up a safety net for Americans who had their livlihoods and savings taken from them through the greed of powerful people and a credit-based banking system. People were starving and had no work. The programs sustained the economy until it could naturally regain momentum. The Republicans wanted to let everyone suffer and the Democrats would not have it.

  • @TheCIAsucks Then why didn't the new deal end after the US economy regained its great strength? Because the main goal was to expand the Fed and increase the power of the Democrat leaders. Also... "The Republicans wanted to let everyone suffer " is typical liberal rhetoric and BS. Right from the Liberal playbook.

  • @TheCIAsucks WRONG! Democrats had JUST RE-SEGREGATED the army... after the war the DEMOCRATS wanted to keep SEGREGATION IN PLACE.. DEMOCRATS turned the fire hoses on black students trying to enter a whites-only school.. REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT called in the National Guard to PROTECT the black students..... DEMOCRATIC PARTY WAS BORN OUT OF THE PRO-SLAVERY MOVEMENT... when the Civil Rights Act was being debated in Congress, the DEMOCRATS (including Al Gore's father) FILIBUSTERED the Act.....

  • @JoeLoro

i think you are thinking of Strom Thurmond who filibustered the 1957 civil rights acts. It lasted 24 hours and 18 minutes.

Al gores father, Albert Gore SR. actually never filibustered any civil rights act.

One has to remember that both parties have switched from left to right so many times and that after the 1968 election many southern democrats voted republican.

  • @TheCIAsucks ur so full o shit u smell up these pages of honor. Go away!

  • @SSArcher11

If that were true, why did we only happen to see results after the war?

  • Thank you very much for sharing.

  • Thanks to this treacherous communist jew world war 2 happened.

  • I think god is neutral in battle situations and the Germans no doubt prayed to him. You win wars with men and materiel, not god.

  • This zombie cant throw a speech to save his own useless life.. He has 1 boring voice.. Why is this guy famous again?? Oh yea, his only famous because of Hitler and ww2.. Biggest over rated fake of the 19th century. This wheelchair bum broke so many international laws during ww2 its mindblowing.. Over 60 years of Hollywood Movies has turned this fruitcake into some "hero/legend" for the gullible american population.. Thats why you cant argue with Americans.. They live in a fantacy world. lol

  • @LootsEr really what international laws? where was the UN that regulate these laws? ooo yea thats right... they didnt exist... International laws didnt really apply before the creation the UN because there was no one to answer to if you broke them... (dont say league of nations, if you dont know what that is then look it up dipshit) WW2 was a fake? really so the millions of soldiers and civilians that died just happened by chance right.... you fucking piece of ignorant shit.....

  • @LootsEr You dumbass.. I didn't say ww2 was a fake, I said FDR. There was international laws during 1939-1945 idiot. Just go and google it.. "fucking piece of ignorant shit" hahaha

  • @LootsEr Yeah, while you're in some podunk little village in Indonesia. Didn't fight worth anything.

  • @battleax86

“He didn't take us through the Great Depression, he extended the Great Depression.”

FDR took office during the depression, and had the depression over from WWII on. By my count he DID take us through the Great Depression. You can disagree with his remedies, but you can't say he didn't have the depression over during his watch.

Siena College polled 238 presidential scholars this year ranked FDR as the greatest president ever. A good ranking for a president that YOU say sucked.

  • @Jonathan6561 LOL The Depression ended during his watch only because a freakin world war broke out...and if he'd been limited to two terms like modern-day Presidents, it wouldn't have ended on his watch. The one thing FDR excelled at was self-promoting propaganda, which is why he managed to remain popular for so long. And I honestly don't care what ranking Siena College gave him. I tend to think for myself. You should try it some time.

  • You don't hear prayers very often with politics...great FDR for the prayer. So amazing. It was just what America needed, to put out there faith and ask for what they need to be done.

  • FDR set American on the road to an age prosperity of growth which I am ashamed to say our nation has squandered and desecrated. Great men such as FDR don't come around every century indeed some of the few men to match his prowess led their respective nations during the same era. However, it is important to remember that great men such as FRD are not born their made... Even still, FDR shined above the rest in an era of great men and all following presidents (especially Obama) pale in comparison.

  • nice, atleast this historic speech video isnt filled with that many hateful comments

  • question: why is the us goin to shit?

answer: because all the good, noble, and heroic ones ,died in the war for freedom

  • Where is the FDR of our day? He took a nation from the Great Depression through the World War II and formed the nation into the greatest super power in the world. He showed the WHY of the war. I demonstrated the courage to the leaders. And he became the voice of faith and calm to the people.

  • @magic2magic He didn't take us through the Great Depression, he extended the Great Depression. His domestic policies were absolutely horrible. He was good on foreign policy, but I think any President would've done the same thing under the realities of the time, just like Obama is almost identical to Bush on foreign policy despite how much he criticized Bush during the campaign. FDR was a great speaker, but overall, he sucked as a President.

  • @battleax86 You are a stupid sack of sh!t.

  • @dirac17 And you're a moronic little fuck...we can hurl insults back and forth all day, but that won't accomplish anything, will it?

  • The most amazing part of this speech is that most of it is a prayer. I wish that our country (USA) hadn't gone the way that it has to make our leaders afraid to pray with our nation. It really was with the help of God that we won that war.

  • @darthslowe The USA is a secular nation and when your countries officials pray it sends the message that this is a Christian country with Christian values, and regardless of what you, a Christian, is going to say about it the USA is free from any religious foundation.

And it was not with the help of god that we won the war. It was the triumph of man.

  • @eanielsen123 "And it was not with the help of god that we won the war. It was the triumph of man."

    - Hm-mm is that so? Well take a look - America hasn't won a war since it became "secular" Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and yes, even Afghanistan. It's impossible for technology or secular man to win a war. Want proof? Who's winning in Iraq & Afghanistan today. Secularist America with all it's sophisticated modern equipment? or Camel jockeys?

  • @ETayDawkinsPhoneHome

What if two equally Christian nations fight each other? Who wins then?

  • @CylindricalWhistle History says.... The one who "humbles themselves before the offended Power" ~ Abraham Lincoln

At that time the USA was divided. North vs South. Both Christian. Abraham Lincoln declared a National day of Fasting and Prayer. God heard, and the Nations wounds were healed.

  • @ETayDawkinsPhoneHome

I find the idea that the Christian nation who prays the hardest always wins to be a pretty limiting and inaccurate concept, history-wise. The reason America hasn't 'won' the war in the Middle East is because it's not really a war. It's just extremists living in that area who spontaneously attack the American soldiers stationed there. There's no front line, no ranks, and the terrorists don't wear uniforms. Therefore, there's no way to really 'win' such a war.

  • @CylindricalWhistle They could win IF.. Big word isn't it?... IF they knew who the real enemy was. Saudi Arabia tried to tell them who the "Head of the terrorist Snake" really was, but Iraq was much, much easier target, and their thing was "we hit Iraq and Afghanistan it will trough enough fear into them they will make their own "regime change."

10 yrs, and Trillions of Dollars later? .... Arab Spring! and the Head of the Terrorist Snake is now in control of 3 more ME Countries. Oh, the IRONY!

  • @ETayDawkinsPhoneHome

Yeah. So, what does God have to do with this then? This all seems pretty secular. Whether or not America succeeds or fails, that's dependent on the decisions that the American leaders made, and the situation (political, geographic, etc.) on hand. There doesn't seem to really be the hand of the divine influencing anyone here.

  • @CylindricalWhistle I'm sure your education surpasses Elementary school level... Figure it out. If you can't, then I am sure experience will more than suffice!

  • @ETayDawkinsPhoneHome

That does not answer my question. Implying that my education would not be sufficient if I did not understand and agree with your point of view is not an answer.

  • --Thank you to the Greatest Generation!!

  • The scary thing about DDay is the Nazi's were blindsided and not expecting the attack to come from where it did.............it could have been worse.

  • @kingcarcas1349 Hitler took away the tanks from his bickering generals into his control and placed them away from the beach. When D-Day came, Hitler wasn't around until to late to order the tanks to the beaches. God is good.

  • This is such a great inspirational speech by FDR; it's too bad it's not as well-known as his other speeches.

  • I was wondering what are the blimps for like the ones at 1:36

  • @AquarianWarKitten They wern't Blimps. They were Barrage balloons used to keep low flying aircraft from attacking the troops.

Check Wiki-pedia on Barrage Balloons WWII

  • The Roosevelt who gave this speech sounds a lot different from the one who adressed the pearl harbor speech.

  • @starwarsguy61

    FDR was a freemason

  • @starwarsguy61 i know, but he was getting older and sicker, so its understandable.

  • @DrinkingRazorBlades That's true - he died before Germany was defeated.

  • @starwarsguy61 sadly... id elect him for a 4th term :D, he was slowly socialising america, and had a kickass voice, what more can u want?

  • We owe this generation a debt we cannot pay- The saviors of our country- God Bless them all! If you know a veteran don't forget to say thank-you!

  • very very sad wat these ppl did for us GOD BLESS AMERICA

  • i like the speech.... however i think he laid the ground work for some of the most disaterous future events that till this day we are reeling from his speech reflect the moral terpituity of the American ppl of the day... We have come a long way from a ppl who had a moral code of conduct and called upon a loving God... Our enemies are bold in their religious Jihad ...they unashmedly no matter how you feel about them fervently repect thier form of religious expression as we subdue and punish!!!

  • Thank you. I sought out FDR's speech on this, the 66th anniversary of D-Day. I wanted to imagine my dad at Omaha Beach, Easy Red sector - along with thousands of other allied soldiers, sailors & airmen - and my mother and the rest of the family listening to this prayer on the radio. I tried to imagine a nation more united then than it has been, before or since. Salute to the Greatest Generation!

  • @PipeDD714 I agree

  • @PipeDD714 WWII was such an amazing thing, I'm not saying that war is good and I'm trying to glorify it... It was a horrible part of our history but at the same time an overwhelmingly interesting part. Sometimes I hate the era i live in right now. I love history and the way things used to be... I would of loved to have lived during the 20's 30's 40's and 50's... I know WWII wasn't fun and there would have been a good chance that I died but I would of served in the war in a heartbeat.

  • As Memeorial Day has passed, 66 years ago today today is yet another day to NEVER forget.

  • @mark4java As a historian, that is a false statement. I think most historians list him a "top five presidents" list. Also, his policies prior to the war, eg the build up, was hamstringed by conservative congressmen who didn't want the US involved in the foreign war that they viewed WW2 to be. His fiscal policies enabled the build up of forces by building US infrastructure and providing jobs to ill-educated young Americans and providing them with income and pride in having a job.

  • @olejackisairbornetoo Most liberal historians might. FDR waited far too long and made far too short of an effort to prepare America for the coming war. We are still paying for his misguided fiscal policies. It's funny that you brag on FDR's role of providing jobs for America's youth. That is not the role of govt in any capacity. Only a narcissist would think that he the POTUS gives jobs to citizens. Calling the youth "ill-educated" can only really be done from a true elitist.

  • We need more men like FDR and Winston Churchill today.

  • Ah! but Stalin helped us in WW2 He deserves a little praise there. For all we know if russia was sided with the AXIS we'd lose WW2

  • the british had killed million setting up their empire, they commited similar crimes to the nazis. so whos really the bad guy?

  • Franklin Roosevelt was perhaps the greatest American President, save Lincoln

  • @orphan567 if it were up to people like you Europe would still be under the control of tyrants. How dare you sit there and enjoy your freedom and critcise those who gave it to you. All it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.

  • @TheBelovedButterfly Was not burn in the united states or any of its terroritorys, and not only is your statement a bit more facist then well your position should allow.Sure germany and its allies lost, big deal my ideas are worth noting, same as yours. and despite common idiotic belief, freedom of speach was stronger in ''nazi germany'' during the war then it is over in your nation today

  • @akatsukifanboy102 "freedom of speach was stronger in ''nazi germany'' "

Unless, of course, you were Jewish, Communist, anti-Nazi, Catholic, and so on. To say free "speach(sic)" was stronger in Germany during the nazi years is to show a true ignorance of the period.

  • @Exmech2 Not to mention gypsies, of course. My grandmother was a pure-blooded Romani gypsy, and 1/3 of all gypsies in Europe were slaughtered in the holocaust. Luckily, the Nazi version of "freedom of speech" was crushed in time to save her, because if not, her 128 descendents, would not have been born. The idiot boy who so admires the 3rd Reich should also know that malcontents like him were classified as undesireable, and had a short life expectancy under his heroes.

  • @TheBelovedButterfly I never said i admired the german reich, i admire their strengh of will, their unbuckling desire to create a new better world. Insane ideas perhaps, but still worth considering, a racially moviated empire can not survive, i realize that logically just because the world requires deversisty.

  • @akatsukifanboy102 Strength of will? they deliberately made themselves into sheep, at the behest of probably the most ludicrous gaggle of druggies and inadequates ever given power; committed the most disgusting series of crimes against humanity, caused 59000 deaths per day, then whimpered for mercy. They were as "unbuckling" as jelly, and their ideas belong in the sewer.

  • I think Roosevelt should have left Allied speechmaking to Churchill, because churchill was better at it, but it's very moving to hear this, knowing that civilisation and the triumph of human decency depended on the success of this action, and the lives of all those young men from America, Britain and Canada, who had better things to do than die far from home. Thank you to every single one of them.

  • Kind of ironic to say we're invading Normandy to end conquest and battles despite the fact the United States got involved in Korea, VIetnam, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, and elsewhere since then. And the only real successful military campaign was the Persian Gulf War. I wish we would stop fighting, it's just not as justified as it was in World War II.

  • Greatest 20th century US president!

  • Greatest President in our history.

  • @tintintabulations

    after Ronald Reagan

  • @ToddonCapeCod AHAHA, funny joke!

  • @tintintabulations Obviously, you're someone born after 1988, and doesn't know better

  • Comment removed

  • @tintintabulations I can't stand historical revisionists. FDR expanded the welfare state, helped create the "entitlement" mentality that still exists and is still ruining us financially, and largely abused his executive powers. He also botched diplomacy before and during WW2.

Reagan didn't destroy middle class prosperity. Are you high? He's responsible for the greatest expansion of peacetime prosperity ever!!

  • @ToddonCapeCod No, I am not high. Under the New Deal coalition from '45 to the mid seventies, median income kept apace with GDP. EVER SINCE THEN it has gone out of whack and income disparity has increased. Reagan, and more recent presidents, with their deregulation of the FIRE sector are DIRECTLY responsible for the financial crisis, the squeezing of the middle class, the evaporation of American industry and the soon to come decline in American living standards.

  • @tintintabulations Oh stop.

He's only slightly less socialist than Obama.

  • @ToddonCapeCod Do you even know what socialist means? FDR was a liberal and if anything a social democrat. And Obama is center right, sorry to inform you. You don't seem to realize how far to the right the official political culture has swung. For example, Richard Nixon tried to implement a guaranteed national income. He also created the EPA and tried to institute national health care.

  • @tintintabulations Oh, you're INSANE! Stop with your propaganda!

    Center right, my ass!

  • @tintintabulations a TRAITOR - every new deal initiative was declared unconstitutional. Amended Trading with the Enemy Act to include Americans.

  • @northpal2 Lies. And you dare call the great man a traitor? You discredit yourself. Americans are waking up to all your lies and distortions of the past. The market will never provide. Government must step in to be the honest broker, for the sake of democracy and freedom.

  • @tintintabulations Heil commrade ! You gimme gimme free shit MORON,

Your communist system has always FAILED leaving millions of dead bodies in its wake. But this is AMERICA , 2nd amendment ... clickety clack - rack the slide back.

  • @northpal2 Darling, go read a book. It will do you wonders.

  • @tintintabulations Honestly, knowing the damage FDR wrought upon America,

I find his words manipulative and deceiving.

Calling upon a nation who selfishly and blindly would sacrifice

the flower of yesteryears American youth after casting

future generations into federal bondage and debt based slavery.

All his actions were in subservience to a grand plan foreign of American values, morals, and character.

  • @northpal2 You are mistaken! The height of American morality, power, standing, wealth, industry and self-respect was the period in which the FDR liberal social democratic New Deal coalition was squarely in power (1945-1970s). Ever since "free market" ideals have been in the driving seat, we've seen nothing but decline, decay and stagnation!

  • @tintintabulations ""free market" ideals" ??? You MORON what you are talking about is "Corporatism" which has turned into Marxism. This was the result of America being taken over after the civil war via 13th and 14th amendment. Free market ideals is what Britain used during her rape of the world, that was one of the things that 1776 was about. America was built by free enterprise, property rights, fair trade.

  • @northpal2 From my point of view, giving corporations the same rights as a human being is part of the problem. What the hell is wrong with the 14th amendment? You some kind of neo-confederate?

You should be careful not to place theories before reality. That's what Communists did, after all. In case you haven't been paying attention, free market deregulation and tax cuts have resulted in tremendous misallocated capital, speculation and a bubble that nearly destroyed our economy.

  • @tintintabulations The 14th amendment gave corporations the same rights as a person and human being became persons who were granted citizens of the corporation UNITED STATES. The government was given its limited powers by a nation of sovereigns for their pleasure, the only time in mans recorded history this was done. "speculation and a bubble" is brought about by fiat currency system.

  • @northpal2 how does the 13th amendment apply? all it did was outlaw slavery

  • @bmase2007 section 1 "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude," this is the word magic used by the NWO international bankers. Notice it does not state voluntary slavery. So when you accept privileges granted by the corporate UNITED STATES you are bound by all contracts for which can be voluntary servitude. IE perpetual debt by the fiat currency system of the federal reserve system which is nothing more than a private foreign owned bank.

  • our finest hour indeed. down wit oppression

  • If FDR risked a fucking invasion of Russia or disrespect, WHAT WOULD THAT CAUSE? That, gentlemen, would cuase another pointless war. FDR most likely had no great disire to be Stalins BFF, more likely just wanted to have a deadly power on his side.

  • Russia was stronger then Germany history already proved that

  • Russia was not stronger than Germany, and almost collapsed at the beginning of the war. Without American and British bombing campaigns and the threat of invasion in the west, starting in North Africa, Italy, France, and then Germany proper, and the blockage of the German coast and British blocking off both entrances to the Med. Sea, Germany would have still had enough output and manpower to defeat Russia, plus we stopped Finland from helping siege Leningrad which would have crippled them.

  • I disagree because history proved that too be wrong. History has said that Russia won in Stalingrad and Kursk and history has proved that they launched a counterattack against the Germans outside Moscow where they withdrew nearly 200 miles.

  • @quest8899 I don't think you can discount millions of bombs dropped by the United States and Britain on cities of numerous axis nations through out the war. Oil fields, refineries, mines, factories, population centers... the damage to Germany's industrial output, infrastructure, and population were vast. We also invaded, supplied weapons and material to Russia in bulk, while Russia was desperately short on war material. Even with Germany fighting on two fronts in WWI, Russia capitulated.
  • @Robertz1986 Also all the hardware sent to Russia via Iran whom Churchill quoted "Bridge to Victory". They built such quantity of mechanized hardware Tehran was known as "The little Detroit". Funny that they are now the so-called "bad guys".

  • Greatest American ever

  • Comment removed

  • My question is to you roosevelt haters is how the hell would you expect the U.S. to go and start a war with ussr.JUST SHUT YOUR REPUBLICAN MOUTHS. AND GET OFF FDR PUNKS. REST HIS BLESSED SOUL.

  • First of all I'm Republican but I admire FDR just like Ronald Raegan did. So make your words nice and sweet in case you have to eat them.

  • @KTChamberlain You must be rich to be a republican and your not tuff enuff to make me eat em.

  • @worseto First of all I may be Republican but I'm not rich, I don't know where you got that stereotype from but those things get you nowhere in life, so keep trying, dumbass, and second, bite me.

  • @KTChamberlain

Actually, most Republicans are just blue collar white trash, which explains your dumbass policies that actually work against the interests of losers like you.

  • @AntiSchiff Wow, words cannot describe what an insufferable piece of shit you are. I can name three good examples of Republican presidents other than Abraham Lincoln: Calvin Coolidge, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and of course Ronald Raegan. Who's the dumbass now?

  • @KTChamberlain

First, did I say anything about presidents, stupid? Second, Coolidge and Raygun were disasters. Coolidge was indifferent to suffering and Raygun ran huge deficits and wasted several hundred billion dollars trying to bluff the Soviets with his fantasy star wars programs.

And let's face it, Eisenhower wasn't a great president. Sure, signing the interstate highway into existence was a big plus, but would a Democrat have done differently?

    You're just ignorant trash.

  • @worseto What are you babbling on about you MORON.

"would you expect the U.S. to go and start a war with ussr"

No I would expect America to mind what one of the great forefathers of this country, George Washington, cautioned, "Beware of foreign entanglements."

  • @northpal2 I would expect anything from republicans because they are up to the same old stuff they have been trying since reagan.Lie and tell everyone you are a compassionate conservative.Bullshit. You can give it up FDR is impossible for you Republicans to bring down.So go back to your money and see if that can make you more popular.

  • @worseto Well I was right again, you are a MORON trying to push the false right/left democrat/republican paradigm. You are an agent of a two party one puppet master system that has destroyed the Republic. The communist "NEW DEAL" was declared unconstitutional at the supreme court you MORON. Try reading history, try reading the constitution, try reading the federal and antifederalist papers. Try actually educating yourself on what America truly represents and should be represented.

  • The Germans could've won had they not underestimated America and invade Russia when they trained German pilots. Those were the same 2 mistakes the Germans made in both World Wars. Although in the case of WWI it was the Zimmerman Telegram that made America declare war in 1917.

  • I thought the Nye Committee decided why we entered WWI?

  • ! dont talk shit" " I dont want to hear the truth" - try to ask the people of Poland they call Mr.Churchil for a gangster - ! if this offened you - then try to go there and ask them " why " ? - like I did and you wil hear a truth you dont like. so shout up boy !

  • Churchill and Roosevelt - tryed to hide Soviet unions war crimes - the even lie and betrayed their alied - poland. Churchill sold Poland to the Russians-- and the Soviet terrors. began. If you any here dont beelive that then try to read about the Katyn Massacre - and you Geordieboy25 - try to learn the history -. or KEEP YOUR STUPID MOUTH SHOUT ! - I am telling the historical fact but it is clear for anyone that you dont know enought about the ww2 -

  • GEORDIEBOY 25 : you say to me " dont talk shit" you would not say that if you know the thruth - ! I am just telling the thruth - recently presented here by your own tv channel BBC - documentary program- Stalin,Hitler and the West" I can recommand you to see this program to - then you wll agree with me! Roosevelt and your churchil knew about the Katyn massacre . 4000 polish oficers murdered by Soietunion and Roosevelt refused to listen to it

  • @nightravenonline I don't know the American position on what you are saying, but before you slander Churchill, who kept my own country going against all odds, just remember that Britain and France - in the case of France, suicidally - entered WW2 in defence of Poland. Yes, Stalin's Russia was vile, but Britain was fighting on three continents, alone, as well as in defence of our own island, and needed whatever allies were available, in order to survive. We couldn't protect everyone.

  • Fuck Soviet union and Stalin they murdered more civilians than Hitler did !

  • @nightravenonline DONT TALK SHIT

  • about total?

  • i take it you dont include the US wipiing out of the native americans in your calculations or that from independance to today theres been pretty much not one generation that hasnt seen war.

  • @ahoyhoy79 wiping natives? rly? you mean the ones that live in private reservations inside the US? that are allowed to have their own laws?

  • @hellagunner1 yeah the ones you give special treatment for nearly wiping out.

  • Roosevelt you are a fucking liar and hypocrate. you ignored the USSR and Stalins massmurder on polish civilians in WW2. Visite Poland and you here all will find out why the polish people hate russians more than nazis !

  • President Roosevelt. excuse me gentlemmen was not as good as you might be think.: He was very interested to make friendship with USSR Stalin one of the biggest massmurders in history.. he didnt want to beleive that USSR murdered 4000 Polish officers in the Katyn massacre. he refused to believe what hes own agent told him- and the russians was spying on the americans all the time. he and Mr. Churchill - sold Poland to russia !

  • Ryan, is that the same Soviet Union that invaded Poland with their Nazi brethren? Your "knowledge" of history is very selective. Better an FDR worshiper than a Stalinist sap.

  • couldve done away with the religious jargan

  • Why do you people have such difficulty accepting the fact that FDR revered the USSR and all things communist and made every effort possible to preserve it?

  • I like him with glasses.

  • "Franklin D. Roosevelt lifted himself from a wheelchair to lift the United States of America from her knees."

  • I hate to break to all of you, but the truth is the war (in Europe) was won by....

    Russia.

  • Yes, but with American, British, Canadian, and other Allied assistance.

  • @unomad112 Good for fucking Russia.

Could the US have fucked them up by ourselves?

    Yes.

  • Not just yes, HELL YES! if Uncle Frank had his way, we'd have jumped on the paper-hanging sonofabitch right after Munich.

  • patton owned

  • If the US didn't have to cross water to get to them? Yes, most definitely.

But as it was, no army in the world could've made a successful landing in France if the Germans weren't throwing the vast majority of their divisions at Russia. There would've been no way to get enough troops across the channel fast enough with the entire German army coming at them.

  • agreed.

  • no because if without a second front an invasion wouldn't have been possible, and thats just the scenario in which britain isn't occupied. without britain the us would have concentraded on japan because there was no immediate danger from europe, while the nazis would've secured the ressources in the middle east. the nuclear weapons would have been useless because you were out of reach. so no, not without russia and hitler as well, he was one of your biggest secret weapons :P

  • Of course not without Russia. Russia was a powerful force. However without western help, Russia could not have turned back the German invasion.

Remember something about the US, it's peak armed forces strength was larger than Russia, it had built the largest air force ever, the largest navy ever, and supplied all its allies with needed resources and equipment. Russia was powerful indeed, but could not have won alone. It was a combined effort across the board (except in the Pacific).

  • But Russia didnt have any help from the US or Britian. Russia fought Germany and their allies alone until the US invaded on the west. So technically Russia could have beat Germany without the US and Britain invading on the west. The facts dont lie, history has already proved Russia to have a stronger military.

  • Sorry, but Stalin had MASSIVE assistence from the US and Britain. Tanks, weapons, aircraft, bombs, trucks, rail ties, rail cars, oil, MASSIVE assistence. Not including strategic bombing which limited Germany's ability to reinforcement of the East front. NOT including the number of units tied down by the mere threat of invasion, let alone in combat in Africa/Italy.

  • No Russia did not have massive assistance during ww2, they were suppose to have some assistance but most of the supplies were bombed by uboats as the supply ships tried to dock. They didnt receive assistance until 1944 onwards where Russia was already winning the war without anyones help.

  • So, you're saying there were no Shermans, or Fireflys at Kursk? And Aleksandr Ivanovich Pokryshkin didn't fly a P-39 in 1942? Please...

Stalin, himself, admitted at Tehran he couldn't have done it without US aid.

On a side note, U-Boats don't carry bombs.

  • The US fielded as many men as the USSR, AND built the largest air forces and navy in history. All this while sending whole divisions of equipment to her allies. If sheer strength is your only metric, the US wins hands down. Remember, the ENTIRE Russian mechanize cadre was riding on IS M3s. There are LOTS of photos of Shermans in Berlin. Facts don't lie. It's merely that some people have a few more facts than others.

  • @Exmech2

"The US fielded as many men as the USSR"

    um no.

  • Umm, yes. Peak strength for the Red Army was just over 13 millions. Peak strength for the US was just over 12 millions, which doesn't include the 4 millions serving in the Navy.

  • @Exmech2

Wrong. Do you have any proof?

The wehrmacht just by itself had 18 million troops for Germany. The Soviet Union was able to draft approximately 30 million. The US, as did the UK, in terms of soldiers, had drafted a mere 10million (excluding navy, and what not).

This amassing of such a huge number of people may be expected in a total war setting that killed 60 million people.

  • How about Zhukov? Kruschev? And a number of other non-wiki writers on the subject. Really, get off the internet and pick up a few books.
