i think that a difference between religious beliefs in soldiers would start more contraversy than a difference in sexual preference. just because someone is gay, doesnt mean they are sexually attracted to you. i believe having a woman in a group of all guys would throw them off alot worse than if you had a gay guy in the mix, but women are obviously aloud to serve , as they should be.

I find one of the answers to be a little humerous. Saying homosexuals serving in the military would be bad for "unit cohension" doesn't really make sense. Even without homosexuals in the military, there are still going to be people with completely different values, different ideas, and different religions. There is never going to be a time when every single person in the military has the exact same beliefs. This same idea goes along with gays in the military.

I am a christian who served in the military and I strongly agree Homosexuality goes against my beliefs, but I do believe gays should have the right to join only if thier conduct doesn't affect the moral and the comfort zone of thier fellow soldiers they would fight along side with. I might think, that it's dangerous to work as a police officer, so I would answer the poll "Would you like to have children working as police officers?" with "No!", because I want my children to be doctors or lawyers and I want them to be safe. i think that a difference between religious beliefs in soldiers would start more contraversy than a difference in sexual preference. just because someone is gay, doesnt mean they are sexually attracted to you. i believe having a woman in a group of all guys would throw them off alot worse than if you had a gay guy in the mix, but women are obviously aloud to serve , as they should be.

I find one of the answers to be a little humerous. Saying homosexuals serving in the military would be bad for "unit cohension" doesn't really make sense. Even without homosexuals in the military, there are still going to be people with completely different values, different ideas, and different religions. There is never going to be a time when every single person in the military has the exact same beliefs. This same idea goes along with gays in the military.

Inequality is never OK. Straight soldiers can talk about their girlfriends and wives without fear of being kicked out. Gay soldiers should have the same right. Fear of being outed was the basis for believing that gay servicemen were security risks back in the old days. Don't ask/Don't tell creates the same situation today. The policy needs to go. I predict it will go within the next 12 months.

I am a christian who served in the military and I strongly agree Homosexuality goes against my beliefs, but I do believe gays should have the right to join only if thier conduct doesn't affect the moral and the comfort zone of thier fellow soldiers they would fight along side with. First off, JESUS HIMSELF in the New Testament, established the New Covenant, which stated that the old Mosaic laws about unclean things were invalid (Jesus in his own person said nothing specifically against homosexuality) Also, Paul is NOT god. in the new T, paul contributes some remarks about HIS OPINION of gays. I will help my neighbor without reservation if it does not contradict the teachings of God. The underlying point that I am trying to make is this: homosexuals are practicing sin and some Americans are allowing them to get away with it( and other sins as well). America shouldn't put up with sin, period. On a side note, I am personally disugsted with the acts of some in the gay community against the Boy Scouts of America, look up some of those cases.

I still do not feel compelled to be sympathetic to the gay/lesbian cause. By the way you won't win an argument effectively by insulting the opponent. The issue is condoning sin, homosexuality is a sin. Now many who support the gay cause say that Jesus speaks of love so if you don't accept my behavior you do not love me so how can you be a Christian. While Jesus speaks of love, he does not speak of being tolerant of sin. Christ hates sin, not sinners, and does not tolerate it. Neither should we

Jesus never mentions homosexuality in the Gospels, not once. If it was so important that we had to clamp down on it anywhere and everywhere it rears its terrible head, don't you think he would have at least, you know, brought it up? There is on the other hand, a specific condemnation of divorce in the Gospels, spoken by Jesus, and yet I don't hear Focus on the Family saying anything about divorce.

While it is perfectly true that Jesus did not mention homosexuality in the gospels, yet he did not condone sin. I think you missed my point. The Jews knew the law (old testament) and when Jesus spoke of sin, it was a generalization of many specific actions, homosexuality being one of them. Jesus did bring up sin on multiple ocassions and he taught against it. Divorce and many other forms of sin need fixing. So I ask, should we allow sin to run rampant throughout our society unchallenged?

wonderful example. there it is, right there in the bible, black and white. now, lets look at the context. Paul is only singling out homosexual offenders. In other words, the Apostle Paul is condemning homosexual abuse rather than responsible homosexual behavior. In essence, these commentators are suggesting that Paul is calling for temperance rather than abstinence. Now, why do you REALLY care what the bible says about gays? it also sais not to do other sinful things, yet u do them anywy.

btw, we have gays in the army in norway , and it hasnt been a problem, my best friend is openly gay and served, he had little or no problems with discrimination or fellow soldiers having a problem with it.

Since the libs like polls, I would like to see the results of a poll that asks "how many parents would like to have gay children"? The results would overwhelming reveil that America is against gays. Wanting the children to not be gay and being against gays is a huge difference.
I do not want my children to be gay, because they would have most likely a more difficult life, they would have to deal with a lot of hatred and having a family is harder.
But if my children were gay, I would love them the same way.

This might be a dumb analogy, but I might want my children to have a profession like lawyer or doctor, but they want to be police officers. I might think, that it's dangerous to work as a police officer, so I would answer the poll "Would you like to have children working as police officers?" with "No!", because I want my children to be doctors or lawyers and I want them to be safe. You want the best for your children and want them to have a successful and happy life.

This doesn't mean I do not respect police officers or that I am against them. It's just that I'd prefer my children to have another job. But in the end, it is not important, what the parents want. If the child wants to have another profession, because he or she is happy with it, the parent should be happy as well.

NAA, i dont think so, i have a badminton scholarship for 1/3 tuition, and happen to know that they still are as picky as ever. my father went there also. im assuming you tried some sort of college- was it beauty school? did you drop out? *sigh* at least I'LL have a great jobs and make lots of money.

I used to play badminton when I was like 3. Then I grew up and realized it was for fags. Real men don't even acknowledge it as a sport. You will be in debt for at least 10 years paying off school loans before you start making any real money. Until then, I will put my paycheck up against yours any day.

when you were three, you also rode the short bus. im not going to have badminton as a career, but it sure helps pay for college, a college you still can never hope to make. i will probably get a docteret in "Mechanical and Aerospace Enginering" so i can design passenger planes for large companies and make more money than you will ever. so, in 10 years, i would LOVE to compare our paychecks. But, your missing the point. there is no ligitimate reason to "hate on" gays.

As sad as it is, they're actually right. Most American men that serve would probably not feel comfortable living with an openly gay man. Hopefully that will one day change, but we're not at that point as a nation yet.
