  • I personally know Jessica, the second contestant called. She's a superb operatic soprano and a very sweet young lady!

  • Fremantle Media Sucks! Long live Mark Goodson Bill Toddman Productions!

  • When Fremantle took over the show, I really love the fact that Bob Barker kept Mark Goodson's name in the closing credits, and had the announcer say "A Mark Goodson Television Production". I believe he did it for the sake of the old tradition!

  • What an ass syd is ,,, he and Mike and Drew have ruined TPIR so sad

  • Vince McMahon will be executive producer, Bob Backlund will host, announcer will be Howard Finkel; models will be Sarah Palin, Jenna Jameson, Vickie Guerrero, and Lindsay Lohan!

A reincarnated Rod Roddy will make a celebrity guest appearance later this year!

  • if only the music and announcer remained...........

  • @elbertproductions Announcer Rod Roddy died around October of 2003 a month after this 32nd year show was taped

  • @Alexking99 I thought this was taped a little earlier than that because I've read that Rod spent the last 2 months of his life in a hospital.

Notice Rod is a bit thinner here. Randy West has a picture on his website of himself and a heavier Rod together which I assume was from late Season 31. I think Rod's weight loss here was because of his deteriorating health.

  • @wiiplayer9isback September 28, 1937-October 27, 2003

  • @wiiplayer9isback You should do that and while you're at it, go after Mike Richards, as well, for firing Rich Fields.

  • Was Rich firied? He was a damn good announcer. They should have fired Drew. Maybe they are trying to systematically ruin the show. Bob come out of retirement!

  • @catholicpriest1 Trying to systemically ruin the show?! They already did that when they picked Drew Carey as new host. I tell you, Carol Burnett should have been picked as the new host.

  • @wiiplayer9isback He's gone already. He was replaced by Mike Richards (who fired Rich Fields).

  • Longwinded talk by this guy.

  • @sweetone985 You think?

  • omg...I was wondering why, when I watched this back when it was 32nd, Rod was losing a lot of weight, he had to fight his cancer until the end. rip Rod! They also had the Price is Right 32nd/33rd logo on the wall and on tv, until he passed away, then they removed it afterwards. =)

  • Syd should not have done that with the microphone...........i think that syd and barker were not that close

  • Syd just manages to come across as a pompous ass in this clip. What in the world was he thinking to just grab the mic away from Bob?? God bless Rod Roddy who was in the final months of his life when this show was taped.

  • You could almost see when they showed rod on camera that time that bob was pissed that they did.

  • Rod, we wish you were still here! :(

  • rest in peace, sir rod roddy.

  • i think drew carey is about as funny as David Letterman

  • @howardkevinm YOU CAN SAY THAT AGAIN

  • Syd is totally DESTROYING The Price is Right by messing up the way the studio looks, and for picking a TERRIBLE host in Drew Carey, almost any other guy could be the host for The Price is Right, accept for Drew Carey.

  • Syd hasn't been with the show since the end of last season.

  • @junkaholic95 Of course, because he retired after June 19, 2009-- the last show of season 37, that's why.

  • @Kjr0se Yeah, even me.

  • @Kjr0se So you're saying Rosie O'Donnell would be better? Are you kidding? Besides, Drew Carey is doing a great job! I've even seen a couple of comments saying that they think Drew is starting to become more exciting than Bob, because of Bob getting crabby with the contestants in his last seasons.

  • @puttputtking Rosie O'Donnell would not be a better host. The only reason Bob became "crabby" is because the contestants who lost on the EASIEST pricing games to play stunk SO BAD!!!!!!!

  • @TheJamesgordon43 Well maybe that is true, but nobody was perfect. I mean it seems like Bob didn't give the contestants enough time to decide and that's probably what costed some contestants their pricing game.

  • thewhammy83 uploaded it

  • I don't know if you knew this, but Syd is no longer EP of "The Price Is Right".

  • Really? I'm glad.

  • He'd be a million times better than Bush!

  • @overweight1995 Everybody would be a million times better than George Walker Bush at being president, even me.

  • @TheJamesgordon43 You can say that about Obama too.

  • @overweight1995 He'd be a million times better than Obama!

  • The quality of this video if awesome, both audio and video!

  • Syd isn't no Mark Goodson.

  • @trainman2010 Of course not. Mark Goodson was the best person to create "The Price Is Right" only to die before seeing his creation get all screwed up.

  • Aww that's right, this was Rod Roddy's last year. He died later this year! RIP ROD!

  • @slunacourtier October 27, 2003, to be exact-- the same day my friend Sackiena Silburn became a teenager.

  • Sid ate up so much time that Bob must have had to rush through the rest of the show.

  • Rod died about four months after this was taped.

  • @catholicpriest1 And one month after it aired.

  • Syd thinks he can just grab the mic from Bob just like that! Who the hell does he think he is? You never grab Bob's mic from him! Don't mess with the man! (Unless you wanna end up like Happy Gilmore) lol!!

  • Syd would make a good politician. His speeches are almost like debates. So boring!

  • Syd Vinnedge is NOT NOT funny!!!

  • @jarvisbrodiea1 So you're saying he is because you just made a double negative.

  • Rod Roddy's last season, and Rich Field's first season.

  • @dubs19842008 Yup, Rich Fields took over on March 4, 2004-- three days after the 6000th "Price Is Right" episode aired.

  • What a creepy VP! Get back in your office scumbag and quit sucking up to a legend!

  • @Megaman21230 Isn't that what CBS did when they picked Drew Carey as new host?

  • @TheJamesgordon43 No, I don't think so. I like Drew Carey.

  • Rod's final episodes...

  • This makes me hate that sumbitch Syd Vinnage even more.

  • They Should've kept it in honor Bon & Mark! Btw Any Wird yet if Bob's gonna make an Appearence with Drew Hosting?

  • @peanut389 He did on April 16, 2009 when he appeared during the showcase round to promote "Priceless Memories."

  • Is hard at the end of every PIR Show to hear The Words FremantleMedia Instead Of Mar Goodson!

  • @peanut389 Very hard.

  • How dare this douchebag just take the mic away from Bob. The way I see it , he should have got down and begged for it.

  • Damn right tjpete1983!!! God, what a fucking asshole Syd is! Of course, what else should we except from some jackoff tool from "Dismantle" Media who's letting TPIR go down the drain!

What a sorry, son-of-a-bitch he is!

  • @tjpete1983 like the mutt he is.

  • @praises9700 Wow, you would say he's a mutt. I think he's a long-winded idiot for naming Mike Richards as his successor to become the new executive producer.

  • @tjpete1983 Wow, you would say that. He should have never taken the job of executive producer after Bob left. CBS should have asked Carol Burnett to be executive producer.

  • @tjpete1983 YEAH! If it wasn't for Bob, that guy and half of CBS would have not had jobs.

  • @tjpete1983 Wow, I knew Syd Vinnedge was nuts for doing that, but I don't see you being any better.

  • Good news! There will be a new pricing game that will debut on the Season 37 premiere. It is called Gas Money and was created by Roger Dobkowitz. It is played for a car and up to $10,000.

  • Wait a minute. The game was created by Roger? I thought FremantleMedia let him go. If he did create it, I'm not sure what to think about all this I've been hearing about the Dob being fired.

  • Roger created this game shortly after he was fired. I guess it was Fremantle's way of giving him a send-off.

  • It'll be interesting having a New Game with Bob Not Hosting!

  • I didn't say that! I said clearly that this was Rod's last season premiere!!!

  • You can still watch Rod Roddy when he did "Press Your Luck"

  • Syd is a bunghole

  • Syd REALLY has fouled up The Price is Right, not only with hiring Drew Carey as the host, but changing the WHOLE look of the BOB BARKER STUDIO, it is a COMPLETE MESS, the set is, the set needs to be remodeled again before the Season 37 Premiere.

  • Syd you are a fucking embarassment to The Price is Right. Bob Barker had more talent as an Executive Producer in his finger, than you do in your entire body. You shoud be ashamed of yourself for not only firing Roger, who was with "Price" since 1972, but also for fucking up The Price is Right.

    RIP Syd Vinnedge

  • @BeijingOlympics4 Drew Carey is the REAL embarrassment to The Price Is Right for taking over as host. Carol Burnett should have been picked as new host.

  • @TheJamesgordon43 Drew Carey the Real embrassment? Whatever! You sound like you're saying you would rather have Rosie O'Donnell as host.

  • @puttputtking Oh, don't flatter yourself. I actually would have rather wanted Carol Burnett as host when Bob retired.

  • @TheJamesgordon43 I don't have to flatter myself. Drew Carey got the job and a lot of people like me like him a lot. A lot of people say one good thing about him is that he's not always Crabby like Bob got with some contestants. Besides, do you think Carol Burnett would have really wanted the job? She's like what, in her 70's now or something?

  • @puttputtking Still, let's assume CBS hadn't picked Drew Carey to take over. It would have been a three-way battle between Bob Eubanks-- whose game show, "Card Sharks," was taped in the same studio as "The Price Is Right," Tom Kennedy, who hosted the nighttime version "The Price Is Right" during the 1985-1986 season and Carol Burnett, who did her variety show in the same studio as "The Price Is Right" from 1967-1978-- to see who would have been picked to succeed Bob Barker.

  • @TheJamesgoSeveral names were considered. Dave Price, Todd Newton, John O'Hurley, Doug Davidson, Mike Richards, George Hamilton, Mario López, and Mark Steines all did audition tapings before audiences in episodes that were not broadcasted. Later, Ian Ziering and Drew Carey were among other names being considered.

On July 23, 2007, Drew Carey announced on an appearance of the Late Show with David Letterman that he had been chosen as the host of The Price Is Right.

  • @TheJamesgordon43 What it also said that I couldn't fit in the last message was "In regards to a widespread rumour of Rosie O'Donnell being a contender, she was never actually one of the possible future hosts being considered."

  • @TheJamesgordon43 Also Mike Richards was a possible host? Ooooooooooooh! That gives me the jitters just thinking what would have happened if he was host. He's already ruined the show as executive producer, he probably would have ruined the show more if he was the host. You can thank Syd Vinnedge and Mike Richards for ruining the show. Also, about succedding Barker, everybody knew nobody could. It would have been hard on anyone who would have gotten the job, just like it is on Drew Carey.

  • @BeijingOlympics4 Actually, he was with "The Price Is Right" since 1984, not 1972, so you may want to get your information straight.

  • @BeijingOlympics4 Actually, Syd Vinnedge isn't the only douchebag. Mike Richards, the guy who succeeded Vinnedge after the 2008-2009 season, is a douchebag, too, for getting rid of Rich Fields, probably the best game show announcer of the 21st century.

  • @TheJamesgordon43 He also got rid of Kathy "Fingers" Greco, as well as TPIR's director Rich DiPirro.

  • @MegastarLV No. Fingers retired (she worked for the show for 35 years!), and Rich was fired by Mike Richards.

  • @gameshowmaster That is incorrect. Fingers was also dismissed by Richards. It was published as her "retirement" in order to cover it up. A lot of people don't know what's really going on behind Door #2, especially when Richards fired Lanisha Cole due to her race.

  • @MegastarLV Excuse me. You said Richards fired Lanisha Cole because of her race? That's terrible. It would be so lovely if all of us could become a very angry mob and go after Mike Richards!

  • @RPSteve Yeah, I know. Mike has done some tremendous damage to the show. One day I should go to a taping & when Drew introduces Mike Richards to the audience, my group is gonna boo at him (the rest of the audience will most likely do that as well).

  • i read online that they "wanted to take the show in a new direction." the direction is going towards the 1994 syn.tpir.

  • Syd, your a fucking queer ass homo..why the hell would you fire Roger who has been with the Price Is Right since 1972! you probley didnt even know it existed back then! you think your all head huncho dont yeah?! go suck some dick you fag your not even funny!

  • @Chris778 Wow! Strong words from someone who can't even spell probably. And Roger was not with "The Price Is Right" since 1972. He was with "The Price Is Right" since 1984.

  • Do not take Bob's microphone, Syd. You are an embarrassment.

  • what about he saying the great staff comment, he fired roger 4 years later. BOOH Sid. YOU SUCK

  • Syd is an asshole.

  • I find it ironic that Syd talks about Bob hosting Price for the next four years, in refrence to a Presidential term, when Bob did in fact ONLY host for the next four years, retiring after season 35.

  • Isn't that the last on camera appearance for Roddy right before he passed?

  • Final premier for Rod.

  • Oy Syd's speech was just embarrassing, I think bob was laughing just to be nice. and correct me if I'm wrong but was this the last season premiere Rod Roddy announced.

  • You are correct...this IS the last season for Rod to announce, but specifically, his last episode for announcing was aired October 20, 2003, a week before he died :(

  • @gameshowfreak2007 No, you're right. Rod Roddy died five weeks after this episode aired.

  • At 2:41 when Bob Said "Its A Pleasure to be Working with You for another Year" Did Syd Just start working with TPIR Or Did Bob At that time Consider Retiring After Season 32?

  • Actually,peanut389. Bob Retired for almost 1 year. This means that Syd said to Bob to continuing working The Price is Right.

  • @peanut389 He considered retiring numerous times in the past.

  • @MegastarLV But October 31, 2006 is when he decided to retire. Probably the worst decision Bob ever made.

  • its a cliche but....gotta do it folks

    .......BARKER FOR PRESIDENT! 2008

  • Long live Price!

  • O I thought he was new in season 36...I ain't know he was on there for at least several years!!!

  • Good thing Syd Vinnedge is behind the scenes! Where did good Rod get the strength? He was great!

  • That was the last time Rod Roddy was on camera.

  • God Bless You Rod!

  • Rod Roddy, Johnny Olson, Rich Fields and Burton Richardson are the best all time announcers for The Price Is Right.

  • If your talking about the TPIR light border i can certainly find you a flash animated border that is replicated off of it.

  • Sheesh, Syd sure is a blabbermouth. I certainly didn't watch "The Price is Right" to see this guy blab on and on.

  • That border looks like it could make a good cell phone border. I certainly wish I had it on mine, but there probably isn't one. (One can only dream).

  • We all lost a great announcer that year. He started that show with so much energy and enthusiasm that it sounded like his early years. Not only could there be nobody to be like he was, no one could possibly even come close to being that good of a guy. I still remember the day that Rod had passed. We knew it was probably coming due to his failing health, but it was still a great shock and loss. May God bless Rod forever.

  • I agree, even though there were other announcers on the show, he was the first one that I ever knew. (In terms of the show)

  • Yes, although Fremantle has owned the show for over five years. If it was only their decision, they would have done this way earlier. Part of it had to do with Syd Vinnedge (the new EP) who didn't want to keep Goodson's name around, like Bob did for the sake of Tradition.

  • I don't like Fremantle Media. They took away some of the fun stuff like Rod Roddy's Camera Time in the 90's and purchase the past productions from the 90's.

  • Actually, it was Bob's decision. As Executive Producer, he didn't feel announcers needed to be shown on camera. Blaming Fremantle Media is just a popular myth.

  • Well... Maybe that can be true but Fremantle Media removed the Mark Goodson Production Logo shown at the end of each episode after Bob Retired.

  • I could see not showing Rich, and Rod close to his death. But having Johnny and Rod on was part of what made the show what it was. Just like the Dian, Holly, Kathleen, and Janice exits. This is probaly another TPIR mystery that don't make too much sense

  • @tgt85dc If that was the case, why was Johnny Olson and Rod Roddy shown on camera, huh?

  • @TheJamesgordon43 This was confirmed by the staff at the show: Bob really wanted the show to be less about "Bob, Rod, and the models" and more about just "Bob." You will also notice this is about the same time the models were used on a rotating basis (after Janice & Kathleen were fired) and were essentially name-less until 2007. Same explanation.

  • Is it just me, or is the Fremantle guy kind of creepy? I'm also not a fan of them taking over the show.

  • I Agree I like Mark Goodson Television Production better they should've stuck with that instead!

  • Interesting how Syd asked the audience if Bob should continuing hosting The Price is Right for the next four years (instead of being the president for four years) because Bob DID in fact host the show for four more seasons: 32, 33, 34, 35. Interesting.

  • Yeah, I was suprised Syd said 4 more years, and it ACTUALLY happened...Bob did say in an interview he was going to retire earlier than 2007, but the reason he kept going was because he was having too much fun!!! :D

  • I wondered the same thing. I believe I read somewhere that Bob did have a retirement plan in place a few years ago and he planned to retire right around when he did. So it wasn't like he woke up one day and announced it.

  • No, of course he didn't do that...as I said, he was having way too much fun...so he waited until a right time to say about his retirement...which was on October 31, 2006...

  • i miss bob

  • Rod looks pretty good for being so close to his death.

    RIP

  • Syd Vinnedge is a bastard, the man just grabbed Bob's mic right from his hand, and he took too long to speak

  • i totally agree.

  • rod itotally agree.

  • I agree the microphone grabbing was very rude. The first part of the speech reminded me of the days when Mark Goodson would ome on the showto thank the crew, but the whole president thing was stupid.

  • @capriceclassic96 Exactly.

  • RIP Rod Roddy

I miss those jackets he wore on the show
