I was born and raised in Los Angeles and still live here and LET ME TEEEELL YOU, Adam's rant is completely fucking on point. The LAPD is, by far, one of the most corrupt police organizations in this country and these cops really do spend most of their time writing pointless fucking tickets. I constantly see a cop parked in an alley or on the side of the freeway just waiting to see who he'll decide to stop for going 10 miles over the speed limit. Complete bullshit.

I got a ticket for no front license plate when i got arrested at the community college near my house when i was plastered out of my mind during a test (which i got the highest grade in the class on.)

i had to leave my car in the parking lot (as i was arrested on campus sitting on a bench trying to find a ride as i was drunk) and they gave me a ticket for no front plate AND no parking pass haha.

They never did find my car.. driving up and down the aisles using my keys trying to beep my alarm

In NJ seatbelt tickets arent assigned points, as a result cops were using them to cut speeding motorists a break, so their insurance didnt go up. How did insurance companies respond? They began assigning their own points to seatbelt violations. Think.

what all of you are ignoring is the fact that most of these agencies are enforcing violations of laws that were invented, lobbied, and pushed through legislation by INSURANCE COMPANIES..thats right, all the ticketwriting campaigns for jaywalking, seatbelt, text/talk while driving...the overtime $ for those details is usually provided to the state by big players in the auto insurance industry.

He's right about Chicago cops... they don't write a lot of traffic tickets. The suburbs are another story entirely; similar to the LA cops. But as of Chicago... you can drive 6 mph over the limit without a front plate and tinted windows AND they wont fuck with you.

In toronto, canada it was reported in the news and admitted to by the cops that police departments were actually giving quotas to the the officers meaning they were basically told they had to give out 1000 tickets a week and they would get a bonus. There was very very little reaction from the general public even tho cops used to swear this never happens...its like the people have just given up and bent over for this kind of BS we just keep taking it

I live in Chicago, the cops in the City of Chicago are great, they protect and serve and do their job (our newly PRIVATIZED parking enforcement is a whole different story) but in nearly every surrounding suburb of chicago, the cops are just as bad as Adam says in LA.
