  • I don't understand. I treat my stepdaughter as my own and love her and care for her more than her own parents. She called me her babysitter today. It broke my heart. Before this she would get defensive when someone would call me her mom she would say "THATS NOT MY MOM!" I don't know what to do. I don't want her to feel like I am anything less than her stepmother who loves her all the same : /

  • What a lovely video! I feel privileged to have been there and watched this process from the outside, and seen the lovely family you all created together. What an inspiration!

  • I love this story!I'm a step mom too,it WAS always a great thing, but more recently, their nasty mother has been brainwashing them and trying to teach them hate and disrespect. She tries so hard to find things wrong with me & is making the kids feel like they should be embarrassed of our family. This is something she has been working on for years. Feeding them insults, her opinions, & even LIES! I don't know what to do anymore.

  • That's very nice, and good for you for being the mom your kids needed.

  • what a wonderful video. I loved it. you both have very great voices that you hear on audio books.. ever try?

  • What a lovely journey/fairy tale for all of you! We have much in common. I am in my mid 40's & the early stages (6 yrs)of step motherhood. My 9 yr old step son dislikes the "step" & has opted for 2nd Mother. We do kid and refer to me as the 'step momster.' I hope someday his Mother joins us on this wonderful adventure we are on before it's too late. Regardless, he has an incredible life & we are rich with love! Hats off to you!

  • As a friend once wrote, "Love is the Answer". A sense

of humor goes a long way in communicating good will

and acceptance. It lightens the journey and puts

things into perspective that otherwise might be taken

too seriously. Kids in difficult situations often forget

    how to laugh. Bev

  • Nice video! I hope you have also a good relationship with your daughter.

  • Thank you for your comment. I did the video in a film class: Digital Storytelling. I had to tell the story in 5 minutes, so I focused on Eric. Jenny and I have a good relationship. She just her third child and is an excellent mother.

Eric works for Apple Computer in Japan. He and his wife just had their first daughter.
