Brooke Fraser has written some of the most inspirational songs, like Lead me to the Cross, Hosanna, Lord of Lords, etc. They are very popular in churches. Yeah she does sing secular, but her songs say nothing negative or nothing that would offend God. I still believe she has a great heart for God and worship and there is nothing wrong with her singing folk music!
It seems like she is another Carrie Underwood. Has her start in Contemporary Christian music but switches to Pop Music. Money seems to do that. I hope not in this case.
@AG549er Actually she didn't have her start singing Christian music. At the age of 18 her first album ''What to Do With Daylight' went 7 times platinum, selling over 105,000 copies in New Zealand alone.Because of this huge success of her first album at such an early age,she decided to move to Sydney where she continues to write songs for Hillsong Church, becoming one of the main worship leaders of popular Christian praise&worship band Hillsong United, while touring her 2nd album Albertine.
@AG549er Her third studio album Flags has become the most successful album of her career, with the single "Something in the Water" opening a lot of doors for her.Even though she still tours on under her solo career,Brooke is still active in the Hillsong Church, leading worship on Sunday mornings in her home Sydney,Australia. Also her actions speak louder than her voice! She is sponsoring 11children through World Vision&doing many other charity projects such as Charity Water.Take care=]
@multiplEYE1. Thank you for the info. A profession with two opposite audiences places a believer in a compromising position. It's great that she does good works but what is her intention? Only she can tell us. Believers are involved in a spiritual battle. The secular world spouts temptation, confusion and manipulation...a fertile ground for a believer to fall. If she can still live-out her faith given her situation, great. I personally would find it difficult. Just ask Carrie.
I really like this artist (yes, i AM a straight male) and i have to say I'm impressed. No auto-tune. That's a feat anymore, and she pulls it off. Needless to say as well, she's hot. Regardless though, her folk sounding song here is what impresses me most. Not a lot of people can pull this genre off. The music I write is all over the top orchestral crap (my channel for examples) and she pulls of a powerful and melodic sounding song while using a basic chord progression. I.E; C, F, C, Am, G,etc
