  • The Shinkansen has not had a fatal crush its 47-year history.

  • that's a 700, right??

  • @uberkelvin right

  • (25×16÷1000)÷(6÷3600)=240km/h!

  • @urara3776 trains on a nozomi run do 270km/h, this has to be doing 270km/h

  • Only time i've ever seen an american train go that fast it was on fire in war of the worlds

  • @rappersdelyte

    bwahahaha XD

  • Nice!

  • great

  • Coolest train on Earth.

  • California has finally started moving forward on our high speed rail, but by the time it's done, it will be old technology and the rest of the world will have moved on to Maglev...

  • Well, to console u Americans, EVERY railway fails compared to Japan's. Not just Amtrak. =P

  • @MAXwellchikenrice I really liked Duetsch Bahn. Our government (Amtrak is a government--owned company with no private affiliation, unlike the rest of the world) failed to the max with Amtrak.

  • 16 cars zooming by.. ahhhh :)

  • Amtrak is a joke (Acela is known to do 150 mph but needs new trains) even as compared to other non-HST trains around the world.

Amtrak trains still run on wooden sleepers in parts of the US and not all fish plates are secured either. Would you believe it!!??

  • That's because the train is a huge commodity in Japan and not in America if it's freight trains then yes that's different.I don't the return is there, for the Japanese it's about as nessecary as having electricity to begin with.

  • While I don't know about the returns on trains or mass transit in other countries, in India both passenger and freight are operated by Indian Railways. The passenger fares are subsidized using revenue from freight.

However, I do know that mass transit in the UK is heavily subsidized despite being run by private train operators. (Not sure how that works).

In the US, people mostly prefer cars and maybe that contributes to a poor mass transit system or it could be the other way around.

  • @rajnikantsharma hahaha Americans build the best aircrafts, spacecrafts and satellites but when it comes to trains lol just forget it. The trains in the US are just to annoying to look at in the first place...the slowness of the trains is just another story.

  • @rajnikantsharma Well, we Americans are not used to travel by train. amtrak has some beautiful routes along the west coast. I highly doubt our railway system would improve to compete with Japanese.

  • @rajnikantsharma fuck u

  • @fhfh60

No thanks. Try with someone else.

  • The N700 also has an advanced traction motor as I read, that allows it to stabilize the ride. Incredibly smooth ride, and very little friction/noise. I think most later Shinkansen models from around the 200 series and up have these types of motors. Electricity is just generically easier to keep quiet.

  • Makes amtrak look like garbage

  • lolz yeah true dat.....amtrak fails againmst this :p

  • @jizzbot2000 regardless... Amtrack IS Garbage

  • @jizzbot2000 They ARE garbage.

  • @jizzbot2000 makes amtrak run like septa, lmao.

  • Maibara has a shinkansen stop because the original town of "Maihara" was so horrible that the town leaders begged and pleaded for it to be put in the town.

It originally was going to be placed in Hikone, but after much gnashing of teeth, Maihara was awarded the hub. The named the stop Maibara, as an allude to the original town, but also to get away from the stigma of how bad the original town was.

I know this because I live in Hikone, one stop south.

  • Please can someone remind me WHY Maibara has a Shinkansen stop?

  • Firstly, Japan railway tried to build other place. But they recognize Maibara station is better. Because, Maibara station is a junction for other lines such as "Tokaido-Line" and "Hokuriku-Line". Then Maibara Station is best for Passenger of "Hokuriku-Line", so they build on that place.

  • At the beginning, it looks like it's on fire.

  • wow so silent for its speed the TGV is louder then that must be different electric motors in them?

  • TGV has it's engines in two locos, one in the front and the other one in the back. That's a lot of pulling and pushing effort (and loud engine's sound) in such small place. The Shinkansen's have all their engines distributed along the train, below their bodies and between the wheels.

  • also on roof.

  • Different,motors,outside desine,current collector, and so on.

The loud sound occurs when the tunnel's passing at high speed.

To prevent it, it designs like the duckbill.

  • about 250km/h

  • listen to the short laugh at 0:04

  • dont they actually slow down when passing stations?

  • no, but in some station they have rails to stop u getting to close to the edge so you don't get pulled in but in most station like this one they send the train down the middle line between both platforms

  • very beautiful!

  • ^歩@;0-0p@;@;「@@@おうykl;:」::;」

  • kewl.

  • nice video
