I saw the Detroit show on this tour and it all seemed low key and low budget compared to the early 80's shows. They wore T-shirts with the Total Devo happy/sad face logo... same ones you could buy in the lobby. And David Kendricks is a fine drummer but lacked the intensity and "sense of purpose" that Alan Myers had.
@dinosaurjr420 & zerobeat & NESSHEAD : Yep, you are looking at what Jerry & Mark describe as being "the house band on the Titanic." They were GOING UNDER. I look at Jerry's face in this video -- and compare it to the New Traditionalists tour vids -- each is intense, but in this one he's pissed off [I imagine] for what is happening / and is yet to happen to them as a group. It's truly a crime what happens to artists in this country who have a conscience and a voice. I'm thrilled they are back.
@adirondackbruce I think they were also consciously going for a more stripped down, casual vibe at this time. You can hear/see this on "Total Devo." The costumes, philosophy and general weirdness were all really toned down. Also, according to Jerry, coke had become a problem for some of the band members.
best song ever by DEVO

@zerobeat18 Well they were running out of money during this time. So much that they had to cancel the SNM tour...

That's the first time i've seen them perform in regular clothes. Not counting their sound check in Del Mar and their performance as DOVE.

I know right. He's probably the one that's aged the most gracefully. He does NOT look 57 years old :P.
