putting the AXIOM that academic freedom IS AN ABSOLUTE necessity for research, critical inquiry, etc., aside, I do not agree with Khalidi, that students come to university to learn or be challenged by new ideas. I think, the process is precisely the way around. Students come with new ideas, and professors do not take any, and that's how knowledge increases.
