Wasn't obama the one who was in charge, the one on top of it? The one who authorized all aspects and was in control of the situation? Amazingly, these predictions of global catastrophy never materialize. Julia will be off in search of another microphone before obama takes credit for the capping & cleanup.
@GBS990 no. Obama wasn't in charge, on top of, in control of, or authoritative on any aspect of the disaster. He sadly wasn't even involved in managing & mitigating it. The disaster happened due to deregulation & dismantling of the Mineral Management Service (MMS), mostly during Bush, under lobbyist pressure, resulting in:
1) lax, inexistent control of operating procedures (BP)
She may just be wrong. There is natural seepage of oil in the Gulf that has developed natural bacteria that eat the hydrocarbons. Last I heard the hydrocarbon plumes may indeed be getting consumed by the native bacteria. Needs to be munched before it rounds Florida though. Perhaps not having more surface oil get into the marsh lands was a better option. A mess in any case, but fingers crossed not as bad as she is imagining.
This is what happens when you trust the same corporation that made the mess to clean it up effectively. Actually, it's what happens when you trust any corporation at all to clean it up effectively.
@Phelan666 Wish I were. The food is contaminated already with GMO's. The water in much of the country is unfit to drink ( with the oil entering the ground water system there will be even more deadly containiments) Private health care impssible to afford. Illegal wars that kill or maim vast amounts of the human race. It's NOT one issue . It's a series . Connect the multitude of dots and you have a clear picture.
The middle class and poor thinned and there is more to come.
@Phelan666 ~ Not buying it. When there are "that" many dots...one must see the connections. BP exec's and their crony's sold many many shares right before ...the spill...
put options ...on 911.
Believe what you must. You're in concert with vast majarity of American's.
@RenegadeTimes Okay, what evidence do you have to support your claims? Don't come back with this "you can figure it out" bullshit. You brought it up. The burden of proof is on you.
@Phelan666 ~ Perhpa you missed what I wrote. BP execs. and close crony's sold off BP shares "before" the spill. Do you understand what that implys ? Bloomberg as well as other's ran the story. If you have been paying attention through the several finanical events that have recently taken place you might understand what is being done. Unlike many YT'ers I do not waste time trying to get people to look beyond their noses. I spend time researching . I suggest you do the same .
@RenegadeTimes Yup, my suspicions have been confirmed. You don't have any real evidence. If you did you would have presented it as I had ask, instead of resorting to that "Look for the evidence yourself" bullshit.
As I have said about five times already, if you wish to argue a point, bring your evidence to the table.
And what the fuck is with all the ad hominems? Don't insult me. You don't know anything about me.
@imre1000 They didn't use it to clean up the water. They used it to clean up their resume and their checkbook. They will be fined based on the amount of measurable oil that leaks. If they disperse it all, there is no way to effectively measure it. It has nothing to do with helping anyone that deserves it.
In the Gulf oil blowout it's been found BP was definitely overriding normal safety practice and disregarding Transocean's standard practice of packing the well with mud before sealing it.
BP also KNEW the "Annular gasket" was broken and wouldn't provide correct pressure readings but disregarded it.
This was revealed in "60 Minutes" recent expose' on the blowout.
My bet is BP will hang for this because they deliberately chose to disregard safety precautions
We can get off most fossil fuels within 20-30 years if we put a concerted effort into solar, wind, fuel cells, electric cars, algae biofuels, and new nuclear technologies.
We also need a new national smart power grid to move electricity.
We can use a carbon tax on fossil fuels to pay for it, and it'll provide millions of JOBS that can't be exported.
Europe & China are ALREADY doing this and America will lose out in future green energy technologies, if we don't.
If you don't use oil for nothing in life. So you must live in a cave. We made this!!! WE the Consumer of oil!!! Got over it!!!! In till we stopping using oil. This will keep going on and on and on!!! Get it!!!!
There was an article in NewScientist magazine a few months before the spill. It spoke of dispersants hindering recovery from oil spills.
I was surprised to see that they were being used in the US Gulf.
There needs to be an enquiry IMO, into the impact of dispersants, the decision process and whether they were used for commercial rather than environmental benefit.
Environmental damage is a loss to the world, to all of humanity.
@marsCubed Does seem they didn' t do much research ahead of time. They don't really know how the use of the dispersants will affect things. I hope that the native bacteria have more surface area to act upon, but they didn't evolve to deal with the dispersant chemicals. Agree... hopefully grants being given for studying this and should have already been done. -- Was the dispersant used to just try to hide the oil sub-surface? I wonder.
I feel so sad for all the animals. Clearly the government and the oilmongers don't have any respect for life or this beautiful planet that gave us life. Mother Earth spent hundreds of millions of years creating the rich biodiversity and the elite minority has no problems just killing animals and people left and right for their own selfish fleeting greed. It's almost like they enjoy poisoning Mother Earth. Sick fucks.

DISCOVERED in the 21stC: The Underlying Law of Nature
The underlying law of nature may be the world's most useful, profitable and encouraging knowledge.
The top 3 General Characteristics of The underlying law of nature are:
#1. The Way of All Things
#2. The Basis of All Laws and Principles
#3. The Basis of All Health, Growth, Efficacy and Efficiency
Google it–as a start.
The empirical process for identifying the underlying law of nature was discovered in 2008.
Someday we may all do so.
