  • I don't understand the F# note. I thought A major was A, E, C#. The F# would be like a A6. But I am no music major. So You have more than 3 notes listed. Also sounds like you are tuning up on the A string, D string and G string, so this would not be a drop tuning. My natural inclination would be C#, A, E, C#, A, C# for a true drop A.

  • guys don't use this tuning video, all the string played are slighty flat

  • now the fuck is this song called i LOVE it

  • @feethoper

    Suicide Silence - Unanswered

  • @feethoper suicide silence - no pity for a coward

  • Let's play some fucking Chelsea Grin now>;]

  • haha using a set of superslinkys at the moment.....

  • WEEKEND.

    NACHOS.

  • my string just broke trying to tune the last string! >:O lol

  • funny im tuning it down to learn the sweeps for the song in the beginning

  • Going old school here. Psychosocial it is. \m/

  • aha, you gotta try ddt strings, 11-54s, sound pretty good from drop g to drop c on my guitar. thx for the vid, its hard to find drop a tuning vids lol

  • I use a bass string for my A string

  • This video is really helpful. Thanks

  • go lower! fuck drop A take it to Drop G

  • Unanswered - Suicide Silence at end of the video :D

  • You gotta be kidding me... I came here to learn drop A, so i could learn No Pity For A Coward right now XD It's the video beggining song XD

  • what is the song in the begining?!

  • @falco1407 all i know is that it is the band suicide silence. im not sure what song it is though.

  • @codyhou405 Suicide Silence - No Pity For A Coward

  • @falco1407 No Pity For A Coward by Suicide Silence

  • I just use standard gauge strings on my Ibanez RG5EX1, and the locking bolt seems to hold the strings up nicely without any problems, so I think its just a matter of taste.

  • what the lowest tuning on a 7 or 8 string that still sounds good? i have no knowledge of guitars and im just interested.

  • i have 09-42 is that like too high? will they break?

  • i dont think i can ever tune my guitar up again.. might break my fucking strings XD

  • this is SO horrible, not only is this NOT distorted, but its recorded from a shitty mic. most people that want to tune to Drop "A", want Distortion, Not Clean. Not only that, but it is way clearer to tune it with distortion because you are tuning for a lot of low end, distortion gives clear highs and lows. and what pissed me off the most is that each note only played 2 times! thanks for making me decide to make a video on Tuning to Drop A. i will post the video here as a response.

  • meeen, i bought 11-70 strings...they are like perfect for Drop A

  • What a shitty ass deathcore band at the beginning.

  • WHAT´S THE NAME OF THE SONG AT THE BEGINNING?! PLZ ANSWER!

  • @Stratocrasher its called, go fuck yourself you deathcore loving faggit. Its from the band Go fuck your Mother.

  • @VonHendrixTV Dude, what´s your problem? I liked that song, if you don´t like it, you shouldn´t insult me... Gosh...

  • @Stratocrasher

    unanswered by suicide silence

  • @ReTr093 Thanks for answering

  • @Stratocrasher

    no problem bro

  • @Stratocrasher

oh wait it's no pity for a coward

  • Does any one know if u tune the E string pasted F tuning the string will break???

  • @biggboi369 If you mean higher tuning... Of course it'll break. But if you mean lower, no they shouldn't if you have the right gauge of string obviously. Their are bands out their that use Drop G#. but you have to be really careful and doing it because if you don't have the right gauge of strings, you won't get any sound out of it but buzzing.

  • why does my fucking high e string break everytime i tune it back to normal from any dropped tuning except for d, which doesn't change any string but the low e string

  • @ReTr093 Maybe you're tightening the string to quickly. The force of shock from the tuner knob can cause the string to break. Or maybe you're going passed standard E. I've done that one multiple times.

  • fuck yea suicide silence!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks man helped me alot :D

  • fuck i snapped my 1st string e crap fml i just got back from the shop

  • sounds like a bass guitar XD

  • haha fuck yeah Suicide Silence

  • "br00tal" is for fucking faggots

  • what u mean

  • br00tal is such a gay way to spell it

  • drop a# tuning or drop a?

  • Lol, I had too tune UP to get to drop A

was tuned to F# pretty sick too.

  • Yes, the Ernie Ball Beefy Slinks are the best kinds of string for these tunings, especially when you tune from Drop D, Drop C, Drop C#, and Drop A as much as I do.

  • @liukang0221

    Drop D aint shit dude

  • @liukang0221 im using the not evens... its working out pretty well but i stay in drop A

  • just buy some ernie ball slinkies...they are perfect if you tune your guitar to different tunings alot

  • I have those! :D

  • sorry

but how the Fuck in the name of odin can you break strings while tuning DOWN

    DONT TUNE WITH WIRE CUTTERS!

    or stop being tone deaf.

  • Comment removed

  • if your E strings are breaking, your turning the knob the wrong way, the most that will happen is that the strings will buzz or be limp, unless your tuning back to standard and they break, if so try tuning back up slower, more gradually, it'll help stretch the strings out so they dont snap under pressure. Good luck Everyone!

  • well, @Sagebear09 -

i agree, another good remedy for easy-no-breakage tuning

go to a guitar man like my dad

and get another spring in the back

ive kept the same strings since i got the guitar

and i practice with my band every thursday, in standard tuning - the rest of the time i'm inclined to use Drop A, so alot of changing, my strings havnt broken for 2 and a half years.

maybe thats just because my guitar is sexy

ibanez gio - 22 fret, strings are dean markley electric medium gauge strings. =D

  • this is assuming you have trees on your guitar head.

  • oh god i got here with 9 gauge im afraid to go back to d or e standard FAK

  • your tuning is a bit off

  • how do you get mick thompson's guitar tune???!!!???!!!

  • mick thompson's tuning is drop B.

  • 0 on 5th string with 10 on 6th string for mick thomsons tuning

  • thank you !!!!

  • whats up with everyone breking ther high e strings.....get some good strings!!!

  • ehh fck i broke meh string -_-

  • "A" standard is better,

  • how are you supposed to keep your strings from not breaking...i have heavy gauge but i still don't know if it will keep it from breaking.

  • they wouldnt break... just go limp and make buzzes not noises...

  • ☻/

    /▌

/ \ Thanks, drop A is dope!!! some Brutal sound man!!! ♥

  • COngrats. you made me break my hi E string!! :(

  • lol that sucks

  • and the last riff was Unanswered, wasn't it =D

  • or you can just get a seven string and tune last string down to A, like me =D

  • what brand and size do you recomend for a 6 string? i want to tune to drop a asap! lol

  • D'adario baritone lights :P

  • i have new strings btw,

    59-13's fuckingnice ^^

  • hey can the strings you use for drop a go up to standard tuning (e) without breaking?

  • i just tuned my strings from drop to standard and they didnt break

  • @Archm0sh Holy fuck, thats pretty damn thick :P

  • @Archm0sh ive got 64- 18 lol

  • @dragonpup1

omg! i need smthg like that too :D

  • @Archm0sh Damn, and I thought the Ernie Ball Beefys I got (54-11) were ridiculous! I don't like em that much though. They don't fit in the nut, so they get outta tune kind of easy. Idk, get the nut sanded out, but I play in standard tuning a lot too. So idk

  • i just got 11-52. amazing!!!

  • Thanks!

  • no problem :D

  • will standard guitar strings work, or do i need to throw on my thicker strings?

  • thats a matter of taste..

i use standard 1--46's but alot of people use 13-56 im planning on buying 12-54's..

    but yes it is possible

  • @Archm0sh i use 11 gauge strings for drop A and is perfect

  • @Archm0sh I use 12-56's and they sound amazing in Dropped A and in Dropped F#.

  • @zachkr thicker strings if u use standard crap the strings wont ring

  • @zachkr shit... on my 7 string i got 14-68 and they are still flobby

  • @zachkr If you are wanting to have your guitar allways in drop A, you need to get thicker strings. Cause if you have regular strings, your guitar neck will start to bend over time because there is not enough tension
