the table needs more of an angle and the ore should not be placed in the pond.... lil more drainage so the roots can breathe is going to promote better growth... :)
@thelip1012 ridicules, the dissolved O2 levels are fine, in fact over 150 times the required amount. The roots don't need to be exposed to the Air at all, ever.
the system is a continuous flow shallow water culture. What you are referring to is, an ebb and flow or a flood and drain system.
In this style of system, the root zone is underwater 24/7 thanks for the lip, lip.
that mystery cucumber plant looks like it might be a horned melon plant which is a member of the cucumber family or it could be a yellow cucumber. just my guess.
Hell, the garden has changed from last year ... its turned into some aggressive frankinstien type thing ... really freaky !!! ... but totally awesome at the same time.
Leaves discoloration may also be due to an iron deficiency. As I understand, there won't be any iron elements in an aquaponics system (since all the nutrients come from the fish).. so you might have to add it from an external source.
Great job on the garden by the way, love the vids!
Different types of peppers, especially heirloom, are not supposed to be planted near each other where they will cross-pollinate.
The tomatoes need to be pruned in order to put out good fruiting. Pinch off any suckers. Picture a Y where one side of the Y is a continuation of the bottom and the other is connected after. Pinch off the one that is not the continuation of the bottom (main stalk). Then you'll get nice fruit.
wouldnt it be better if you lowered the waterlevel in the plantbeds? that way the sun wouldnt come in direct kontakt with the water, and you will get more oxygen in the gravel aka more beneficial bacteria. and a question: why doesnt u filter the water before it enters the gravelbeds? I think the plants need only the watersoluable substances. put that heavy fishpoop in a compost or something?
Jungleponics ;)
Chelated Iron from your local nursery should rectify the yellow/orange discolouration.

Is not breadfruit, breadfruit is a really big tree.
The orange coloration it could lack of iron.

tomatoes usually need a support. Hydroponics is fine, but u should put a stick (stake) to allow the tomato plant to grow on it.

A couple of lumps of iron ore would sort that out ... put them in the beds or the pond.

Build your maters a trellice... maybe some fencing just wrapped in a circle.

Pick them when you just barely notice the color change. (peppers)

Wow, your garden looks great. Can you put red wriggler worms in the bed to eat all of that extra food?

ON the tomato plants, with the orange & eventually dying leaves is possibly aphid damage
sugarpuddin88 2 years ago
@sugarpuddin88 Discolored leaves could also be spider mites.
