  • flew the sound of that melody

  • @mebtoe1 boring, badly written or ugly never equals simple or catchy in my book. Obviously, this music has its fans - just like racism does "grab some people" while being disgusting for most of us :-)

  • Questa canzone è magnifica. Nient'altro che magnifica. Per me,poterla imparare a suonare con la mia chitarra, veramente è un onore.:)

  • I am playing this song in our middle school orchestra for our spring concert!! so hard!

  • bersa 888- it may be boring but it does grab you. the star spangled banner is a boring song but it inspires and leads us to a higher plane of emotion- insipid and simple though it may be.

complexity of notes, attention to style purity, and perhaps in this case a better variety of instruments would satisfy the classical musician but would leave us common men adrift waiting for an earth pounding viola or timpanic drum to wake us up.

  • If you are going to write honest, genuine baroque-style music (not "baroque inspired", pastiches, parodies, transcriptions, etc.) you should try to write GOOD music, not eminently boring stuff, which utilizes every single stereotype of the genre - or use real music from that period. This is a boring, insipid and, frankly, embarrassingly infantile composition. Only after hearing the real thing (Bach, Vivaldi, Corelli, Handel, Scarlatti etc.) will someone realized how truly crappy this music is...

  • @bersa888

    all music should be respected

  • This is my fave music ever!!

  • if violas aren't good, others could have just played without them. but look, every orchestra has them and quartets won't be complete without violas..=)

  • they say cd's are good for thousands of plays...i'm on my 3rd cd of this album Diamond music

  • vaporosoez I agree CRANK IT UP !!!!

  • diooooss k kancioooonn *-*

  • Esto sí es genial. Venecia pura.

  • sounds like a good soundtrack to professional fighters training or even fighting.

  • The first minute of this would be great for a battle scene in a movie. The wind blowing the hair of the main charactrers, the long grasses swaying in the breeze, the tension in the muscles, the bloos rushing through your veins... that kind of stuff. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL COMPOSITION!

  • The viola is the violin's whiskey drinking, cigarette smoking big sister. :) Gotta love the viola.

  • Ah, playing this in guitar this year:3 I'm so excited!!

  • the whole cd is phenomonal. needs a quality sound system to do it justice--- you can feel the passion build. really moving.

  • I really want to meet/learn from Karl Jenkins. I love the chords, and contrary motion in this song.

Every time I hear this song, as I do with a few other songs, I kind of drift off and stare at something and imagine the music rolling out in the form of sheet music in my head (not the pitches, generally the form/shape of it) - similar to panorama view in Sibelius... its hard to explain.

I wish I had skills to write like this!

  • I once asked a violist why she chose the viola over a violin or a cello. Stupid question, really, I realize in retrospect. She didn't even blink an eye (obviously she had been asked this question before) She said, "I love the violin, but when I play the viola, it vibrates through my whole body." Pretty good description, I'd say. Imagine all the great pieces of the world without the viola lines! Impossible boring!

  • @swarze That's what I say too. Violins have a really pretty sound, but violas make your body vibrate, and the sound of them are more pure and deep.

  • To me, it sounds like a cross between Vivaldi and Tchaikovsky, though a little more Vivaldi than Tchaikovsky. I'm not bashing this song. I love it. This is the first time I've heard the entire song as I've only heard the 30 second commercial version of it before tonight.

  • still want to hear TSO do this...

  • STOUPE MADE THIS INTO A MASTERPIECE FOR SURE

  • So you think you can dance introduced me to such a great song. I love this! <3

  • where i can download this cd ?

  • were i can download this cd ?

  • @jack81lg si ti capisco........ :=)

  • stupendo.....

  • KAAAAAAAAARRRLLL JEEEEEENKINS!!!! (geddit? xD)

This is song is awesome beyond words.

  • @DoubleSwords47 I see what you did thar

  • @wiiman250 woot woot!

  • butterfly effect fibonacci and fractals on the cover plus epic music, hit me with some theoretical physics head explodes, this must be stephen hawking's breakfast

  • so close to greatness

  • Very clever, like a modern Vivaldi.....

  • hearing this makes me want to pull out my cello but i haven't played in like 5 years

  • BRILLIANT!!

  • Beautiful thank you, man can aspire to such greatness, if only life was a symphony. Ok for some of you it is. Thanks lovely clip.

  • This is nice, but this is really a rip off of pieces within Vivaldi's L'ete and L'hiver.

  • @hjones1, While there may be some similarities to small portions of Vivaldi's 4 seasons, the piece really isn't a rip off, as it is quite a bit different overall (and very well done).

  • I don't know about all of you who thinks this part is boring I find it beautiful.

  • Pure Awesomeness

  • I'm auditioning, as a violist, for my school's chamber group and this is the showcased piece.

I wasn't surprised that we didn't get much love in this song... And to be honest, I would have thought so.

It's true. The viola doesn't get that much love in most pieces...

I wish we were noticed a little more so we would be so stereotypically underrated.

    Violas forever! <3

  • I am killing the replay button :) lol

  • Such an amazing song and screw the 1 person who thumbed down this video.

  • This is a very beautiful song.

I agree with Igneous01, it's the same with bass. I play second violin, and I find that if you take out any section of the orchestra, the piece feels empty.

  • Wow... haven't heard this piece in years: I remember this from the DeBeers diamond commercials back in... the late eighties/early nineties(?), but I didn't hear the full version till more recently (though to me, it always sounded like the music for a BBC costume drama)... Always sends chills of delight up my spine! Thanks for sharing this awesome piece!

  • one stupid freak doesn't like this song! How dare they?

  • @vikagusenkov nah, they were just so engrossed in the song, they accidentally hit the dislike button. ;)

  • @vikagusenkov clearly, they clicked the wrong button

  • @vikagusenkov It's now 3 freaks, but don't worry. I'm not one of them. I love this song.

  • Nobody didn't like it!!!

  • i find violas an important instrument in every orchestra, sure there the backup and play the supporting melody, but without them the piece begins to feel empty. i know its fun to play the exciting parts and all, but without those suddle parts that the violas play it wouldn't sound as great as it does with them

  • i like this

  • If you compare this to the de beers diamond commercial, its different. they mustve changed it up

  • @dvdai14 The tempo is different in fact it sounds 20 times better as if the one in the video wasn't good at all changing the tempo just made this the most overplayed song in my ipod and I say that with gusto!

  • My sisters orchestra is playing this!

  • this piece is so great and rounded, the strings make it what it is. all the piano solos i've heard are lacking unless they have strings behind them. this is definitely a piece with a gorgeous composition and the sound is not as full on a piano.

  • I adore this piece, it's so beautiful. But i prefer the pano solo...it's on my channel.

  • superbe ,merci pour ce moment musical

  • tres beau

  • Just love the music. I can listen to it over and over and over. I'm not a musician, unfortunately. Just a lover. This stuff is the best.

  • @windertim6492 not being harsh, but you can tell you're not a musician if you think this stuff is the best!

  • Heard this recently played by the Plymouth Symphony Orchestra, a completely amazing performance of a piece that deserves greater recognition.

  • lol the beginning might be good for a movie

  • fantastica!

  • 1:14 is my violin solo!

  • We r also playing this in orchestra

  • @TheCommonC:

    well said

  • Flippin' LOVE this song!

  • we're playing this in orchestra :D

    it's so much fun

ps- i play violin, violin owns x]

  • This song is epic :)

  • a little repetitive, but a very strong finish.

  • yes, but the Pipe Organ is the king of all instruments!

  • @poopingeneral no true words ever said

  • @poopingeneral Obviously Yes!

  • Well, I'll personally say that the violas are excellent and are often underrated in pieces such as these...We're like the guy who always perform as the mediator and keep things flowing...And no one notices until he's not there anymore...:)

  • ***** for this splendid music !!love it !!!!bravo

  • Have you all forgotten the majestic cello parts. Breathtaking. Viv La Cellist <3

  • this is the best song EVER MADE!

  • My percussion instructor is going to arrange this for a percussion ensemble. :DD

    great song.

  • @Egkoston hai erick =D

  • Violins are like the white rice of music - they sound great, you can use as many as you want, and they go well with just about anything. I think this song is great with the stringed instruments!

  • Wow .Love it

  • haha played this 4 days ago, same version 7/8th grade orch, it was awesome critic guy rated our palladio 4.3/5

  • Seen him in concert 4 times...fantastic live!....A must if you can.

  • the viola part isnt boring!!!

  • I playing this tomorrow night at my high school. The eighth graders got put together with the 9-12 and they're AMAZING! I find the viola part quite boring

  • im not surprised; we violas are too often merely barely heard supporting parts rather than getting important and fun parts. but have fun with playing it and enjoy at least playing the piece.

  • @Gawaine687 You have to think of violas as salt in bread, you don't taste that either, but when it isn't there, it tastes like shit: same with an orchestra :-p

  • @Goliath131 having played a viola for many years in an orchestra, i know what you mean. and i think your comparison is a good one. however, the difference between having and not having salt is a small one, and i hate being allocated to a small role with some of the more boring parts of a piece. its easier than violin parts, but at least they get the melodies more often.

  • @Gawaine687 Yeah Cellos don't get alot either. We played this one piece though that had a awesome viola part. I will haveto find it for you

  • @Gawaine687 In our chamber orchestra, there was one person who made all-state this year....and she was a violist. She is by far the best player in our orchestra, and the solos she played were crazier than crazy...

  • @nerdswith8guns what piece was this? as i say, violas dont get much action, so its always a treat to play or hear violas get some exceiting pieces.

  • @Gawaine687 yea, i think so too. i'm a violin player, too. of course, like vivaldi's spring (if im not mistaken) and many more songs have solo parts of violin which are perfect, but we need more songs with violin actions.. :D if you know what i mean

  • @Gawaine687 I play the viola, too, and I have fun playing it :) specially the viola concertos!! :D

  • @Goliath131 I play bass guitar, and that's exactly what I love about it; few people notice it when it's there...but when it's gone, everyone notices it :)

  • @violanny yea my middle school played this. i think the only difficult part for viola was the coda cuz it has the double sixteen thing

  • lol my friend is in symphonic orchestra (the highest) theyre playing this and yeahh

SO ADDICTED it is now my ringtone :D

  • can anyone find free sheet music for this online/??

  • @sandstorm887 Gimme your email and I'll send it to you.

  • I was looking for this piece for such a long time, cause I didn't know the title and now I've found it here.....!!!!!

    AWESOME!!!

    Thanks for uploading!!!

    I love it!!!!

  • Awesome To The Max!!!

  • yah this song is awesome to listen to and to play... the ending of this song is the hardest part to play

  • i love it=] my orchestra is playing this (=

  • Hey...what Orchestra do u go to ? Caus our Orchestra is playin` it too....PM me back ,thx

  • really? so is mine! what school do you go to?

  • i go to robinson middle school. in kansas=P :) haha. youu?

  • I realy dont like this kinda music. But damn ! Where can i download it for my phone ?

  • if a world war 2 spy movie was made, this track is the perfect opening music! one thinks of dark misty Vienna streets and whispers on the ominous wind.

  • hey acerb4666555 thats a great idea currently its misty and i live in vienna xD and i use a acer :3 +1

  • Damn Good!

  • my favourite song..when i was sad it make me feel so..so good..

  • Pitty such a beautiful piece is used to the sale of jewely. "for ever...."

  • i dont find it a pity at all. at least people are able to hear some of this wonderful music through the commercial. and i think it works very well.

  • Damn right. Some of those older De beers commercials are actually quite beautiful in their own rite.

  • @Gawaine687 my thoughts too— and I'm pretty sure this music got its start BECAUSE of jewelry, so we can be thankful jewelry gave us this!

  • my orchestra played this and it was beautiful love the cello and 2nd violin prt. luv the 1st violin solo

  • i love the ending. so beautiful

  • Yea, the ending is beyond belief.

  • Let's face it. The first movement is beautiful. I would not mind interviewing Jenkins some time.

  • yeah, thats kinda what its like with us violisits. we get repeated notes or rhythms sometimes and rarely get the main themes or the fun stuff like you violins do.

  • i can imagine. a string instrument too i suppose? What do you play? happens to me a lot as our high school symphony orchestra would tackle hard pieces, even for us violas.

  • Check out Jenkins Requiem, in particular the Dies Irae section. Very rhythmic.

  • I love this peice thank you so uch for posting it i can't stop listening to it!!!!! It's amazing!!! It's sooo catchy!!! I love it thank you so much!!!

  • We played this for graduation! It sounded good until our conductor decided we were too small and added the beginning band. Instant crap. Poor Mr. Jenkins.

  • I was under the impression that just about every single composer did that with every single OTHER composer. XD

  • My thoughts exactly too.

Just listen to Hans Zimmer's music. Almost all of his songs copy another composer's style. He copies Harry Gregson-Williams's and Danny Elfman's style in almost all of his music. :(

    Anyway, wonderful song! :)

  • or they copy zimmer, or most likely each have similar influences. i'd say if any composer is a copier, klaus badelt copys zimmer too much, which is why curse of the black pearl sounds so much like gladiator and every other zimmer soundtrack.

  • See, I wasn't even thinking of modern composers...I was thinking actual Classical era composers, too! XD

  • Well, Klaus Badelt has an excuse. At the time he did Curse of the Black Pearl, Badelt was working under Zimmer's instruction.

Hahaha. Well, Karl Jenkins is a fairly modern composer...he did a commercial!!!

  • love this piece of music!

  • I have just been listening to Escala's and Bond's and even Silent Nick's version. I was looking for the rest of the movements in this suite, but I clicked on this yesterday. The difference in versions is amazing. This version is so tight and neat!

  • I just heard this song this morning on the radio and HAD to find it! thank you for posting such wonderful music!

  • i search this for jears!!!!!

    100000000000 thanks for upload!!!!!!

  • wow

  • Superb!

  • glorious!! * * * * *
