  • When it was Ed King, Gary Rossington, Allen Collins on guitars, Ronnie singing with Billy Powell on the keys, Leon Wilkeson on bass is when Lynyrd Skynyrd really smoked. Ed King has never got the recognition he deserves for HIS CONTRIBUTION to the Lynyrd Skynyrd signature sound. The intro and solos for Sweet Home Alabama were Ed King on a Strat. I'm talking the first three albums. Bullets was made without Ed King and is great too. Steve Gaines polished the band. Icing on the cake with Steve=2¢

  • great band ..¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • Sounds eerily like the Johnnie Van Zant Band's "No More Dirty Deals". Great tunes and stuff but...? Guess I'm fukin' old eh?

  • @treblejunkie Dirty Deals and Round 2 are great albums that Johnny put out back in the early 80s..

  • @CrashMarket : Most definitely. Remember "WILD EYED SOUTHERN BOYS" by 38 Special and Donnie Van Zant singing. Another great album. Those days cannot be beat.

  • @treblejunkie Yea every lp by 38 during the A&M years 77-86 are the bomb..The 1st two lps are very interesting because Donnie Van Zant is the only lead vocalist on every track..After that Don Barnes was the lead singer on half the songs on the rest and his made most of the big radio hits for 38..

  • Oh...lets not forget JoJo!...I would love to see Artimus, Ed and Bob Burns still involved with the band, but it seems that there has always been infighting within the band...that doesn't ever seem like it will ever change. But what is true is that Ronnie's creation and vision will continue to motor on..and the Lynyrd Skynyrd Band will always be kings of southern rock. The songs will endure long after we are all gone. Ronnie Van Zant was a genius. And I am sure his legacy will continue forever.

  • I truly believe that Ronnie, Allen, Steve, Cassie, Dean, Leon, Ian, Billy, Hughie, and Coach Skinner are watching over the band. For a group that has endured so much tragedy over the years, It only seems proper that Gary and Johnny and Rickey keep going as far as they can. Many say that the true spirit of Skynyrd lies with Ronnie. But Ronnie did say back in 77.."To have people stand up for a song that you wrote, that's what keeps me coming back". That came from the man himself.....

  • back in the 80s the wre called the Rossingin collins band with a female volcalist

  • dont fuck me cuz i fuckin love ur vids hahahaa southern rock forever!!!!!!skynyrd didnt die in a plane crash! skynyrd can't ever die!!..skynyrd sounds a lil diff cuz it just went thru some changes...so what! which one of us hasnt gone thru some changes! ROCK N ROLLLLL

  • I think if the originals heard this album, id like to think theyd be proud. I know I am :)

  • Bob Marlette is a living legend

  • This is a great album!

  • all of the band members lived but the singer. and the singer now is the old singers brother.

  • @COUNTRYMAN223 : Sorry to correct you, but not just Ronnie Van Zant died in that arsehole plane crash. They just started with an awesome guitar player when they cut Street Survivors album and during the North American tour of that record the bird hit the swamps. It was a Honkette's brother, Steve Gaines.Him and his sister Cassie Gaines AND Ronnie were band members killed and a few other folk too. Very very sad moment for the whole world. Try to imagine Ronnie today. He never reached his peak yet.

  • hay if they wrote songs like this with the origianal members it would be the best band ever to exist!

  • chinese democracy has fantastic guitar and some riffs i my opinion. Buckethead didnt play slash - he played himself in his veiw on gnr. i agree that its not similar to old gnr (which i in fact dont really like) but its also quite interesting. And solos are badass

  • Skyryrds music will go waaay on cause old and youg like it! my son 19yrs old is the drummer in a band and they play this and several other songs on thier song list. They won the talent contest 2 years ago with FREE BIRD! The school and parents were so impressed with them! they had them play at the prom which led to more and more. With out setting out to be doing gigs thats what happened for a year they were in high demand, all because they started out with SKYNYRD !!

  • They Still Have One Of The Original Guitarist & Ronnie Van Zan's Brother Took

His Place Of The Lead Vocals

  • i dont care if its the original or the new. the band will never die. members may come and go but the band will live on forever. also skynyrd isnt the only band thats had new members come throught the years, AC/DC is still going strong when Brian Johnson replaced Bon Scott. Allman Brothers band went on w/o Duane, heck Black Sabbath had no Ozzy for awhile and Ronnie James Dio replaced him and they still got a hit with Heaven And Hell. KISS goes on without 2 original members (Frehley & Criss)

  • @clikcerticker but Guns & Roses is Axl Rose, Axl Rose, and Axl Rose pretty much....Rose got rid of Slash...big mistake...they got all new members and they got pretty bad. The Smashing Pumpkins...Billy Corgans ego as usual got to him..got rid of everyone..even the ones who came back for their 2006 reunion..but Skynyrd is forever!

  • @maclieberman yea they did. altough i liked Chinese Democracy. the song. not the whole ablum. but thats whats happens original band members leave for whatever reason (death for majority of them, they leave or get kicked out etc etc) the band tries to carry on. they either do it successfully or not as succesful as they were before

  • @clikcerticker Chinese Democracy was a disappointment not just in the box office but to me...they had it released all special: on a Sunday rather than a Tuesday as all albums are released but it failed miserably in my opinion...Axl's fault. And now i read that a new album is slated for a 2012 release.....they need to pull Slash out of Velvet Revolver, settle their differences, and do guitar for the new album and ill be happy lol

  • @maclieberman I guess what you have to accept is that Axl likes the outcome of Chinese Democracy, and likewise Slash likes the outcome of Velvet Revolver and his solo work, despite the fact that many criticize those projects aswell. And new GNR does have a lot of fans which means Axl is going to feel he has some support to justify his project (not that he'd care if he didn't have that support anyway).

  • @Burbridge92 Also, Chinese Democracy was never going to cover the costs of production, so the fact that it failed in the box office won't bother anyone from the GNR camp.

  • they should change the name of the band

  • Amazing song from very good album!!! :-))))))

  • these guys have always been my favorite band.some good ole souhtern rock kicken ass.

  • there are 2 original members left gary and mr powell on the piano the singer is ronnies brother and the drummer and 2 others guitarist come from 38 special. the original drummers is still alive but he refused to play with them because its not the same

  • wats IMO btw badass song

  • in my opinion :)

  • Listen to it for what it is, excellent IMO.

  • i never thought this was lynyrd skynyrd... totally different sound!

  • original Skynyrd died in a plane crash in the 70s.

in the 80s they reformed with a new singer and a bunch of new guitarists.

that's why it sounds different than free bird and sweet home alabama

  • @slohurdler22

cause mamma told me, when i was young... come sit beside me my only son..

Is the original guitarist or any original members in the newer skynyrd? if not then wtf?

  • there is only 1 original member left: guitarist gary rossington.

ricky medlocke, the other guitarist, used to be with skynyrd as a drummer way back before they were famous, but i don't count him cuz he didn't really do anything with them and instead left to form his own band.

  • jesus man!!! a new singer it's mister Johnny van Zant ( Donnie's brother )

And so damn true , these lyrics

  • @slohurdler22 the new singer is only Ronnie's little brother..and these guys arent like new as of the 2000's but from the 60s and 70s then the 80s when they came back from hiatus..maybe just 1 or 2 are modern. Only 3 are from the 2000s and one is from 1999..so they arent all like brand new members. Its still kinda them. Billy Powell too until he died after the recording of this newest album.

  • @slohurdler22 Gary Rossington, the Freebird solo master, is the ONLY original member still there.

  • @maclieberman

allen collins wrote the free bird solo, not rossington.

and medlocke is not an original, but he was there when the band first started out before they became famous, so he doesn't really count. hence, the reason he isn't in the rock and roll hall of fame with the rest of the originals.

  • @slohurdler22

not all of the original skynyrd died in the plane crash, some in the plane survived, in fact Gary Rossington who suffered several injurys in the crash is still with the band today. He is the only remaining original member with the band. Its a common mistake that all of Skynyrd died in 1977.

  • @slohurdler22 the new singer is only his brother

  • @slohurdler22 the new singer is his brother...and hes a DAMN good singer...must run in the family lol

  • @slohurdler22 "Southern Ways" is Sweet Home Alabama-ish =D

  • @slohurdler22 one of them lived

  • @slohurdler22 actually the only new band member is the singer and this singer is the brother. so lynyrd skynyrd is still the same there just tryin to keep up with the time period. but now the singer for them and the singer for .38 special has a new band called van zant.

  • @slohurdler22 I love the new skynyrd! i don't care if gary is the only one left, they are badass. I bought this album months ago, popped the fucker in my truck, and haven't taken it out since!

  • @slohurdler22 yeah and the old one is wayyy better this sucks

  • @slohurdler22 yeah! but they still rock hard! LOVE SKYNYRD! FOREVER AND EVER!

  • @slohurdler22

    True.

The new singer is the original singer's brother.

Ther is still one original member in the bend and he's playing guitar

  • @MrBrownstone6661 : Ya, Gary Rossington. He survived that muther fukin' plane crash with two broken arms and a leg and other shit. He was meant to survive...absolutely no doubt about that. Lynyrd Skynyrd won't die...never. The Stones WILL die some day but NOT Skynyrd.
