I don't see the need to see a life boat drill if I'm not on board. It was very uncomfortable when I was at one. True it was nice to know that if needed, there were plans for safety at sea. It's great that it's a must attend drill, because you are at the mercy of your fellow passengers. Good info. ...One could only pray that it would be thisorderly in an actual "abandon ship" moment. The drills are almost enough to make someone pass out.(no adrenaline to keep you conscious) Thanks, flashback!!!
On the Carnival Victory, we had a public-address system speaker in EVERY room. However, the ones in the rooms would be used for emergencies only; we only heard the announcements about the lifeboat drill and the alarm tone sounding. It wasn't that loud in our room; it was basically as loud as the tone they used for class-change signaling at my high school's public address system.

Are you serious?....Your the people that we have to wait for the lifeboat drill all the time.....Get there ON TIME!!!!! That would be before they sound the alarm, not after....
Well then you have a ship full of idiots because we were in the first group that arrived. The captain told us to be in our staterooms for alarm, not to go find our Muster station prior to the alarm. Nice try.
A life boat drill is meant to simulate a real-life emergency scenario. In a real emergency, people would not be all lined up on the promenade deck BEFORE the alarm sounded.
The instructions provided always state to be in your stateroom with your lifejacket ready when the alarm sounds. This is so that you can find your route properly, without the use of elevators being permitted.... as would be the case in an actual emergency.
So they actually did the drill exactly by the instructions.
