  • My family bought an '82 Buick Lesabre. Worst peice of shit ever. Was falling apart the day my dad drove it off the lot. Trans was assembled wrong at the factory, windows would not roll up due to door frames being warped. Don't even get me started on the computer controlled carb. Too many problems to list here. BUT...the Olds 307 in that thing was great. I was given that car in '94 and had to sell it due to collision with deer on Camp LeJeune!

  • @RUBIZEN, The car you mentioned must have been a Friday car. My car has been all the opposite of what u mentioned, but jus like anything there could be some bad eggs in the batch. LOL. Ive had mine for 13 yearz, got it from the original owner and no rebuilds and still take it on long road trips with its now 335,000 miles. I really appreciate your comments and watching my video. Have an awesome day. -BOGAR!

  • @j45007 I worked in a car factory for 8 yrs. so I know all about fridays!!!. I actually loved that car. Lots of sentimental value. Rode great. The olds 307 was smooth until the day I got rid of it. Now and then I see one similar for sale, usually an old lady who saw an oil spot in the garage under it.

  • @RUBIZEN how were you falling apart the day you dad drove it off the lot, and what is the worst piece of shit ever? and why are you also randomly saying '' trans was assembled the wrong way at the factory'' ? and dont you mean, '' their are too many problems to list here. '' ?

  • @ianater900 Lets's see: The trans. never really shifted smooth so a guy at the dealer unlugged the computer. The trans. shifted much smoother after that. About 4 yrs later the trans. had to be rebuilt. It was rebuilt at a GM dealer. After that the trans shifted perfect plugged into the computer. They guy told us that the transmission had been assemdled incorrectly at the factory and that he had assembled it to spec. The windows were installed wrong in such a way that once the fronts (cont)

  • @ianater900 were rolled down it took one of us kids in the back to roll our window down, reach out to the front window and push in while one of our parents rolled up the window. This is something we discovered on our way home from the dealership. The dealer ship fixed this by bending the door frames outward away from the body of the car. So then the car looked like it had elephant ears. Lot's of wind noise too. But anyway, like I said before I loved the car, lots of good memories in that car.

  • @RUBIZEN it was that bad but youse kept it well over a decade?

  • My car is half the age but looks worse because cars, bicycles, dumpsters, and who knows what else keeps crashing into it while its parked...

  • Really??? That many miles? Wow. Great video, thanks for sharing :)

  • in this le saber i see a Buick in the 2004 i don t see a le saber

  • Awesome ride dude! I just bought a 96 roadmaster off a funeral home haha. I love all GM's but buick is my fav.

  • Love all your GM full size automobiles!!! We have a 1977 Buick LeSabre in the garage, just like yours but ours is black (tan interior), with the silver gauge faces and original stereo. Hopefully someday we'll get a chance to take it out haha... but anyways looking forward to any future videos.

    -Justin

  • That sure brings back some memories. My dad had a 1979 Buick LeSabre Limited that he bought in 1980. I used to drive it periodically when I was in high school.

  • The Main reason these puppies are so damned durable is that it is a RWD "B" body GM car. The LeSabre was the highest end of the "B" series in '83. (The Park Avenue, Olds 98 and ALL big Cadillacs were on the related but longer "C" platform.) The "B" platform had at it's base the Chevrolet Caprice. That car was used as police cars and taxis. Those cars are driven like battle tanks and last long. So a LeSabre (Or an Olds 88) on that platform, and driven sanely by normal folk WILL last forever!!!

  • i just gut 1 with 46000 miles and it looks so much worse

  • I have a 1985 buick lesabre (collectors edition) j45007 your on my friends list, i had my buick and me posted on here but i took it down, im gettin ready to trick it out and i will keep u updated it should be down in JUNE

  • @taecamperva, well send me a video when you do!! and that will be nice to see, and i did not know you were on my friends list...cool! your name seems familiar!

  • Beautiful car sir, I just bought a 87 Cutlass Supreme with the Olds 307, unfortunately it has the 7A heads, where as yours has the 5A. Nevertheless, keep on rolling.....I prefer the older cars because the new 1s are shit, I can simply park my baby in the driveway and work on it and its also enjoyable!!

  • A car could have half a million miles or 20,000 miles, if all the maintenance is done to it (oil changes and so forth) then the car will last forever. Very nice car by the way, I had a 1988 Buick LeSabre Limited at one time until I hit a deer with it. Keep good care of your LeSabre, I would absolutely love to have a "full size" RWD LeSabre - Take Care, and happy motoring.

  • @TheYoshiClan, thanks for the comment. I fully agree with you! Although it also helps a Great deal to start out with such a durable motor such as these carz have. And you said you want a full size LeSabre....but you already have a Beautuful Park Avenue! LaTeRz, -BOGAR!

  • Hi there Bogar. Wow. They sure did build those Buicks well back then. We had a 71 Centurian with a 455 in it. Man that was a very well made quality comfortable car. Factory green tuck&roll seats. It need so much work done with only 59.000 miles on it that my father traded it in. He never took care of it. One thing that is a big mistake for cars in that era was the Vinyl Laudau top - which is nothing but a water trap followed by body rot. Thx. Sincerely, JAMES.

  • These are great cars i have a 84 i got for 350 with less then 65k on it runs very well

  • Awesome man, just simply AWESOME those cars were made to last 50 years

  • ohh i thought that was a 83' buick lesabre custom but its limited my dads is custom they almost look the same cept the outside and some on the inside outside i think the grille and and the well u have the hubs and on my dads has the chrome rims (no rust) surprisingly but yeah they are nice cars i think all old cars are nicer than the new ones

  • I just purchased a 1985 Buick Le Sabre Limited Collector's Edition 4-door Sedan. 111,000 one owner miles. 307 gas v8, 4-speed auto, Dark Red with vinyl top and dark red interior. Spotless, the original owner never drove in snow, salt or gravel. The paint on the hood, roof and truck is a little faded but other than that the car is in showrrom condition. I've already had many comments on it, just in the last 24 hours.

  • That front end is from an 84 or 85

  • im 15 i just bought a 1980 buick lesabre pretty much the same cept mines 2 door with a 2 tone piantjob blck/grey and muscle racing rims its pretty cool oh and it has a brand new 350 in it :))))

  • Dude, Please Make a video of it!! -BOGAR!

  • I have a 83 lesabre wagon. It ahs the lights under the dash but it has a touch climate control and a rear defroster switch under the the front air vent.

  • this is a real car compared to all the shitty cars they make today i priced on how much it would cost to make a old car almost 100,000 because chrome is realy expensive so is the stainless steel plus how they have full frame chssis old cars are the best from 89 and back some 91-92 caddys are still solid that was the last of the solid made car era and v8's then it was all about fuel economy thats why they make new cars shitty just because they are throw away cars is what the dealer told me lol...

  • those old buicks will last forever, no kidding. I had an ex who had an 87 and hers was prettynice.

  • I'm glad I have yours to look at since I don't have my 85 anymore :)

  • I guess you could easily drive it to David's Farm and back. Got to love it!

  • wat state u live n bro

  • Hello "ACDCEvan"! I live in California.

  • send her to the farm to take on sky hill

  • Neat sounding chime here!!

  • That car is in really good shape for having over 300,000 miles on it. With being in california, I would expect the paint to be faded and the padded roof to be cracked. But not on this gem!

  • That seems to be the front clip used from 84-85... not in 83. Has it been wrecked, or is it just a late model 83?

  • the what clip?

  • The front end. The part where the headlights & grille are housed.

  • I'm sorry but I can not stop watching these videos. This car is to beautiful to even find the appropriate words for this comment!

  • Awesome car, keep it stock. My Regal Limited is stock with the 307 and it will remain that way.

  • Have the same car but it is a 82 and has two doors. The car I have does not have the lights under the dash or the dash clock.

  • Buicks are Beautiful cars with Character,, and wtf is this OLD people car shit,,,random, and dylan,,,,,u guys can go out and buy a plain plasto crap and do ur pop o wheelies or what ,,but dont knock style just because u dont have any!!

  • excuse me? im not saying i cal em old people cars. im saying that most luxury cars on the road are bought by more older people these days becasue they are luxury cars and they can afford it.

i drive a buick (er will) and im proud of it.

dont tell me to buy a plain plasto crap . im not knocking style, these are awesome cars. read the rest of my comments, i was contridicting what dylan said ddumb ass.

  • yeah thats what i thought

  • Mileage dont mean shyt,, ive seen 10 year old cars in the junk yard, lookin like crap wit less than 100 thousand on them,,,,depends on how some take care of their vehicles, or dont care of them,

  • the reason i thnk people say its old person cars is because most luxury cars out their are driven by old people because they can afford it.

so yes u could say it is, but what it really is is a REAL AMERICAN CAR.

  • im a young person, if u mena buick in gneeral, i woudlnt mind driving one, if u mean by a new one, i would drive hte enclave. a nice luxury crossover.

wyh not make a vid on a car? its youtube. my as well show the world of something "you" think your proud of doing or owning. this vid has almost 5000 vids, so people are internested.

im surprised u dont undertsand this in the first palce :S

  • I'm 20 and drive an 84 Buick LeSabre. Nobody made me buy the car. I used my own money and picked the car out. I wanted a 4 door LeSabre or a Chevy Caprice because I hate newer cars, and I wanted something with 4 doors I could haul my friends around in. Its all a matter of taste

  • I have always liked oldsmobiles and chevys more (i have an 80 caprice with 62000 on it) but that one is one hell of a car for them miles! Almost bought a lesaber once though, until i found out it was a 231 V6 and I aint buying no V6 B-bodys, it's just wrong! Nice car though, next stop 400,000!

  • Hello "stevethethief". You said 62,000 on your caprice, thats hella low.I have put about another 5,000 miles on it since this video was made,it will drive right in to 400,000 wit no problem. And yes your right about those V-6 they put in to some of these cars. They are just way to heavy for that little engine. The 307 V-8 on the other hand is made to be a heavy duty engine,so it fits the bill quite nicely.I still get like 23 miles to the gallon highway with no problem. Thanks for viewing, -BOGAR!

  • wow that is amazing how good the car condition it is in. That car is rare to find in that that goood of shape and with the over 300,000 miles on it that car it just amazing.

  • WONDERFUL!!

  • Wow that has really nice wood trim inside on the dash... I wish the newer Buicks were still made like that.

  • You really have nice car. You made me jealous:D

  • I love those BIG old school cars that actually had good gas milage not to mention the best sounding STOCK stereo systems ever.

  • Beautiful car

  • buick leSabre are gm cars and they can last a long time

  • YOUR DAMM RIGHT!!!!!!!!

  • I had a 2000 buick lesabre limited with 270,000 miles.

  • I know those are good cars, it probaly had the 3.8 liter V-6 that GM has used since 1985, and they have continued to refine it til now. Thanks so much for viewing.

  • That's a really nice car. I love the old 80's square shaped American cars.

  • you like daves farm too.

  • goes to show you even cars can last for a long time as long as u maintain it

  • That car looks great for it's age. Whatever you do, don't put any of those giant chrome rims on it.

  • NOWAY man! I hate the look of those type of rims on any car, i dont understand how anybody could like. But then again "to each his own" And my own is original-LOl Thank you for viewing.

  • a guy in the town were i live had the same exact car untill one day it was parked on maine street and a local construction company was headed down main street to go pave when it sliped out of gear and began to pick up speed and they tryed to stop but there was no brakes and it was going about 65 and struck the buick like yours and shoved it into six others the only vhecals that were not toatled was a ford ranger and a chevey cavaler.

  • Thats funny and sad at the same time. Was this recently and was it in california? Just out of shear curiosity! And thank-you so much for viewing my channel. -BOGAR!

  • no it was about a year ago in montrose southdakota.

  • im in love with your car!

  • absolutely beautiful

  • it is in great shape, and what a mileage !!!

  • Yeah i always get comments around town about the color and appearance of the car. If the picture quality was better you would be able to see the real effect of it. I will try to improve future videos. Thanks for commenting and viewing!

  • thats cool yea i heard this color is rare mines faded from the St. Louis winters but i hope to get it looking good now that its nicer outside i loved how good mine runs even the day i got it after sitting from 1994 to 2006 it ran pretty good after a new battery and a good tune up and such

  • nice ride man i like that dark grey mine came in that color plan on getting it repainted this summer check out my 82 2 door

  • Did the 1983 Buick Lesabre ever come with a scary buzzer on the base models or just a chime?

  • It came with the Flute-like tone on the base (Custom) models, Jac2Mac.

  • And the 1982 Lesabre came with an evil buzzer that sounded like two buzzers sounding together, right?

  • Yes it did. My grandfather had a jadestone green 82 LeSabre Custom & it had that buzzer & it used to terrify the hell out of me to where I would have to be sure whoever was drivin gwould fasten their seat belt prior to starting the catr.

  • Pardon my spelling errors, by the way!

  • And to make matters worse, Buick immediately switched back to the scary buzzer that sounded like two buzzers sounding together when they downsized the Buick Electra for 1985. The same thing applies to the 1986 Buick LeSabre and Riviera.

  • buick had chime in 1985 as u well know now

  • How did the buzzer sound like buzzers sounding together?

  • It was just incredibly loud & it would blast you right out of the car if you were not prepared for it.

  • Even worse is the fact that Oldsmobile also switched back to this same loud buzzer when they downsized the 98 in 1985 since I heard an absolutely terrifying buzzer in a 1985 Olds 98 in the first Lethal Weapon movie when Riggs started it up without his seatbelt on.

  • There's also a movie called Turner & Hooch where an absolutely horrifying buzzer can be heard in a downsized 1989 Oldsmobile Delta 88 when one of the characters starts it up without his seatbelt on.

  • Speaking of chimes and buzzers, did the 1979 Chrysler Newport use a chime for the all 3 functions unlike Cadillac or did it only use a chime for the seatbelt reminder just like Cadillac and Ford?

  • All three. As a matter of fact the 1979 Dodge St. Regis & Chrysler Newport/New Yorker were the first Chryslers that I remomber using chimes rather than buzzers.

  • And it's an absolute shame that the 1979 Cadillacs and 1979 Ford LTDs that had chimes only for the seatbelt reminder but a scary buzzer for everything else were much more popular than the 1979 Newport and St. Regis, isn't it? It should have been the other way around.

  • You're damn right about that! Ford's usually more cutting edge than it's competitors as far as technology is concerned so you think that they would have switched to chimes for all three.

  • Did the 1980 Lincoln Continental and Town Car use a chime for all three functions unlike Cadillac or just for the seatbelt reminder like Cadillac and what year did Mercury start to use chimes for all three functions for their Grand Marquis?

  • And if Chrysler started using chimes in 1977 starting with the Cordoba and the New Yorker, then they probably have done it only for the seatbelt reminder but still use a scary buzzer for everything else just like Cadillac, right?

  • I also remember when Accept Transportation replaced the Chevy Caprice wagons that had a chime with early 90's Dodge Caravans around 1992. I remember riding in a 1992 Dodge Caravan school bus van that was white with red interior and the bus driver would start the minivan up without his seatbelt on all the time and buzzer in that one was downright scary, his 1996 Dodge Caravan used the same scary buzzer.

  • Are you sure they weren't Rams? Every Caravan that I have ever been in has had a chime but the 92 & '96 Ram vans still used the buzzer. I take The Ride which is a service of the MBTA & they predominantly use Dodge Rams & they actually used the buzzer until 2000, I believe! Dodge was REALLY late in modernizing their big vans if they could still use the scary buzzer in a vehicle with dual air bags, huh?

  • No, they were Caravans, but because both the 1992 and 1994 Caravan had a red interior, they buzzed and it sounded like two buzzers sounding together and it used to scare me to death. Caravans that did not have a red interior used a chime.

  • And I DO know that Oldsmobile switched back to the buzzer for the 1985 Olds 98 where it sounded like two buzzers sounding together since I remember the first Lethal Weapon movie where an absolutely terrifying buzzer is heard when Riggs starts his 1985 Olds 98 without his seatbelt on.

  • I also during my last year at high school in 2006-2007 I rode in a 1997 Millis Public Schools Dodge Neon which the driver started up without his seatbelt on all the time and buzzer in that one was downright scary. His 1996 Ford Crown Vic bus used the same buzzer. I also rode in a 1996 Ford Taurus station wagon bus and it had that buzzer that would terrify the heck out of me to the point where I had to make sure the driver would start the car with the seatbelt fastened.

  • Remember however, that the big Dodge vans didn't change much during its more than 30 years of life from 1971-2003 which is a long time to make a big van that had only a few changes during its lifetime.

  • Don't forget the 1997-2002 Ford E150 vans, they also still used a scary buzzer so Dodge wasn't alone in being late to modernize their big vans.

  • I DO remember that the 92-96 Fords still used the buzzer as standard as I rode in a couple of '93 & later a '96 Econoline & the all still has a buzzer but every 97-02 van I have seen has had a chime

  • The XLT models of the big Ford van from 92-96 did use a chime instead of a chime which made it the first time a big van used a chime. I do remember riding in a 1997 Accept Transportation Ford Econoline wheelchair van bus and that one still used the scary buzzer. The same thing applies to a red Clubwagon van bus from 1997 that I rode in a few times.

  • Were there any 1983 Buicks that STILL used the evil buzzer or not?

  • Not according to the sales literature.

  • How about the 1988-1991 redesigned Chevrolet and GMC pickup trucks? Did they still use a buzzer on certain models or did they all use the flute-like tone and did the 1986-89 Dodge Diplomat and Plymouth Gran Fury still use a buzzer on the base model or a chime instead?

  • This is one that is right up my alley as I have actually heard both the scary buzzer & the flute-like tone in various versions of the GM trucks. I also know that the Dippy & Gran Fury DID use a chime only from 1986-89. This chime was actually part of an auxillary lighting package that was optional from 1980 & it became standard after 1985. All years of the Chrysler Fifth Avenue, however, used only a chime with no buzzer available at all.

  • I think the 1988-1991 Chevy Cheyenne and Scottsdale models still used the scary buzzer while the Silverado use the electronic tone instead, right? Also, did the 1980 Lincolns use a chime for all 3 functions unlike Cadillac or just for the seatbelt reminder just like Cadillac?

  • I believe so. And yes, all 1980 Lincolns DID use the chime for all 3 functions.

  • Unlike Cadillac who refused to use chimes for everything but the seatbelt reminder which ment they sucked big time, right?

  • Yeah, but as I said before, that's GM for ya! And you wonder why they're going bankrupt!

  • hey i got a questrion, gm 85-90 bused chimes for seat belts u said but u said their other buzzers or chimes for other function. what other functions make these?????

  • Which is even more frightening since you would think Chevy and GMC when they redesigned the big trucks in 1988 would kill off the buzzer for good right away and use a flute-like tone on the base models and a Cadillac-like chime on the Silverados, right?

  • You have got that one right! I have even heard Astro Vans with all 3 sounds (scary buzzer, flute-like tone, & chime). For a vehicle that came out for 1985, you would think that Chevy would have eighty-sixed the buzzer & just used either the flute-like tone or chime, huh? You will also be surprised to hear flute-like tones in a couple of 1990 GM cars which should have switched to chimes with the addition of those God-awful door mounted seat belts.

  • It could have been even worse. GM could have easily continued to use the hyper-evil buzzer in some 1990 GM cars like the Chevy Lumina and the Buick Century, much like the 1993-94 Dodge Shadow that still used an awful buzzer despite not being a big van or truck!

  • Why were the door mounted seat belts on the GM cars so awful?

  • Oh, it was just dreadfully uncomfortable & would make getting into & out of the car extremely challenging.

  • Were there any 1979 Lincolns that used a chime or did they all use an evil buzzer?

  • How about the 1985 Camaro and Cavalier Z24 with Digital Dash? Did they use a scary buzzer despite the digital dash or a flute-like tone?

  • There are actually videos here that show an '84 Camaro Berlinetta at Davidsfarm that does use a digital dash with the flute-like tone & aldso there is a video of an '86 Cavalier Z24that uses the scary buzzer despite having the digital dash. Chevy & Pontiac were kind of weird in the '80s, there were many models of their cars which used all 3 sounds as options. This means that you could have a scary buzzer im one model, a flute-like tone in another, or a chime in yet another.

  • For example, a friend of mine used to have an '84 Pontiac Phoenix about 20 years ago which had the scary buzzer. This DId shock me as I would have though that they would have just graduated to the flute-like tone for all their cars by '84. The same goes for an '83 Pontiac 2000 that another friend had which also had the scary buzzer & the horrifying buzzer I heard one in an '84-85 Chevy Celebrity. That REALLY shocked me as every Celebrity that I had been in up until then had the tone.

  • Is there such thing as a 1983 Pontiac 2000 or is it the 6000?

  • The Pontiac 2000 was the car that eventually became the Sunbird. It was introduced as the J2000 for 1982, then it changed to 2000 for '83, 2000 Sunbird for '84, & then just plain Sunbird for '85. The 6000 was Pontiac's version of the GM A'body cars which also included the Chevrolet Celebrity, Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, & Buick Century.

  • I never knew that! I thought Pontiac J-body car was always from 1982-94 called the Sunbird. Also, did the 1983 Oldsmobile and Buick J-body cars also use the scary buzzer or a chime?

  • The (Buick) Skyhawk used the tone & chime & the (Oldsmobile) Firenza could have used either the buzzer or the tone.

  • And how about the 1982 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera and Buick Century? Did they use a scary buzzer or a gentle chime?

  • I guess either a buzzer or a tone but the Ciera Brougham always had a convenience group standard which consisted of auxailary lighting, a visor vanity mirror, & the chime.

  • Did the 1982-83 Cadillac Cimarron with roll-up windows use a scary buzzer unlike other Cadillacs?

  • Would the 1982 Chevy Caprice, Impala and Celebrity have used a tone or a buzzer?

  • The '82 Caprice that my father brought home one Christmas as a company car had the flute like tone & I am sure that the Imp still used a buzzer & the Celeb had one as well with the tone available.

  • So that 1984 Chevy Celebrity with the scary buzzer meant that it was a base model with vinyl seats and the tone must have been optional that year. What year was the buzzer forever killed off in the Celebrity?

  • I guess. I just heard it as the person was getting into it & my friend & I were walking so I never got close enough to see what other equipment this particular Celebrity had. I guess the buzzer must have been killed after '85 then. Another one that I was REALLY surprised to hear a scary buzzer in was a 1990 Chevrolet G20 Mark III conversion van that my uncle used to have years ago.

  • And if I had to ride in a Dodge Caravan from 1992 with red interior, I used to make sure that whoever was driving it fastened his seatbelt before starting it up so that I wouldn't be scared to death by that buzzer, same thing with the Plymouth Voyager which had the same buzzer. Make no mistake though, when they didn't bitch at the driver to fasten belts with that buzzer, they were very comfortable vans to ride in and very safe too.

  • Did the 1991-94 Dodge Shadow and Plymouth Sundance use a gentle chime or a scary buzzer?

  • Comment removed

  • The buzzer is NOT factory on it, it came from a 1979 Caprice. Please stop talking about my car thanks.

  • That doesn't make sense to have the scary buzzer in a car with a digital dash at all. I think the Cavalier Z24 should have used a flute-like tone for 2 out of 3 functions with the seatbelt reminder being the same chime sound used in the 1982 Cadillac, don't you think so?

  • You bet I do! Boy, was GM ever weird & inconsistent back in the '80's, huh?

  • Unlike Dodge which at least had some consistency back in the 80's where smallers cars would have the buzzer and larger cars like the St. Regis, Diplomat and the Dodge 600 would use chimes like the Dodge Caravan. Same thing with Ford, right?

  • Exactly.

  • How did Ford and Dodge have more consistency than GM back in the '80s?

  • There's even a video of a user starting his 1985 Camaro with Digital Dash and it STILL uses the scary buzzer. There's also a video of a user starting his 1989 Chevy Astro which is red, has power door locks and power windows and it STILL uses the scary buzzer unlike the Dodge Caravan. Sucks, doesn't it?

  • Yes, it does. To paraphrase Stewie Griffin "DAMN YOU, GENERAL MOTORS!"

  • Which 1990 GM cars used that hidious flute-like tone instead of a chime and which ones used that monstrous buzzer?

  • Usually it was mostly the A-bodies that still used the tone & the most basic versions of the trucks & vans used the scary buzzer. One addition to th tone would be the 1990 Lumina, my aunt & uncle bought one of the first Luminas that came out in the summer of '89 & I still remember how soothing the flute-like tone was in that car!

  • Also, did the 1983-1985 Chevrolet Impala use the flute-like tone or chime or did it STILL use the scary buzzer unlike the Caprice?

  • That's not true about the Diplomat and Gran Fury from 1986-89. They STILL used a scary buzzer as standard especially on the Dodge Diplomat police cars and the chime package was permanently removed as well. There is a video of someone starting his 1987 Gran Fury and that one STILL used the absolutely terrifying buzzer.

  • Could the 1986-87 Diplomats be ordered without the chime package for a discount which in that case the driver would get a buzzer instead And did the 1986-87 Diplomat police cars still use the buzzer instead of a chime or not?

  • Also, is it possible to replace the chime in a 1988 Dodge Diplomat with a scary buzzer from a 1981 Dodge Diplomat?

  • I am sure you could. All it would be is a matter o ripping out several wires & modules & replacing them with new ones. If you type "Caprice chime box" into the search bar, you will see a user who was having problems with the chime in his '83 Caprice not working or only working intermittently so he replaced the factory chime module with one from an Oldsmobile wagon around the same vintage &you can see clearly how this module works at he works the wires.

  • Also, I do remember a scene in the first Lethal Weapon where an absolutely terrifying buzzer can be heard in a downsized 1985 Olds 98 when Riggs starts it up with out his seatbelt on.

  • I think Dodge Caravans from 1991-1994 that had a red interior used the same scary buzzer used in the 1991 Dodge Ram truck rather than the chime on Caravans with blue, gray, or tan interior.

  • Are you very sure about the 1986 Dodge Diplomat having a chime only as standard? I think the base models and police models did still use a scary buzzer as standard and didn't actually make the chime standard until they redesigned the steering wheel in 1987.

  • holy crap its you again...

  • I even used to be terrified to go to school if I saw a Dodge Caravan school bus with red interior pull up to my house since that meant it would have the dreadful buzzer which was VERY loud and horrifying!

  • GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE, JAC2MAC! I seriously can't believe you brought that up because I used to be terrified to go to school if I saw an Impala wagon pull up rather that a Caprice Classic wagon, especially if it were a driver that I knew did not fasten his seat belt prior to starting the engine because I knew that I would have to endure that GM buzzer that was 10X more dreadful than Chrysler's ever were!

  • But 1991-1994 Dodge Caravans with red interior like the ones I rode in the early 90's had an even more evil buzzer than the one in the Impala wagons you rode in. The buzzer in that 1992 Dodge Caravan with red interior had a buzzer that was 50X more sinister than those Impala wagons or even some late 80's Dodge Ram vans and trucks! Dodge Caravans that did not have a red interior had the chime.

  • Also, if a 1983 Ford LTD Crown Victoria wagon with red interior pulled up to your house rather than a Caprice Classic wagon with blue interior, than you would probably hear the buzzer which is much tamer than the one in the Impala wagons which was more obnoxious than sccary.

  • It's funny that you mention this one, too because I DO remember an early-'80s LTD wagon picking me up & yes, it DID use the scary buzzer for the door ajar warning. I am not sure about the seat belt reminder as the driver had th engine running when she picked me up,.

  • What year was the Ford LTD wagon?
