@picksboy maybe they don't piss someone in the Rock n Roll hall of fame...if they want to put Deep Purple in RnR hall of fame they have to make a lot of award gift to a lot of people...Rod Evans, Nick Simper, Jon Lord, Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Paice, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, David Coverdale, Glenn Hughes, Tommy Bolin (memorial), Joe Lynn Turner, Joe Satriani, Steve Morse
@ArpeggioBear They don't have to enter ALL past members intt the RNRHOF - when Fleetwood Mac got inducted it was the Rumours lineup plus a few of the blues guitarists. Same with Black Sabbath, that was just the original band, despite success with Dio etc. If DP are inducted it'll most likely be the original band, they might toss Morse a bone and include him. Mk3? Probably not unfortunately. And Satch? He was a fill-in, no way he'll be inducted with DP.
I wish I knew that riff! I got to see Rainbow live along time back. Ritchie was amazing! Yet something was "different". It was days later I read an inteview with him where he said something along the lines of (not a quote); when I play live it is like I am outside my body watching myself.
@0AlienFromUrAnus0 Hendrix played Them Changes, yes, but it was written by The Band of Gypsys drummer, Buddy Miles, who also sang it originally. One of my all time favorite jam tunes!!!
@TheNewChadSmith According to Wikipedia, three of the band members - Glover, Blackmore, and Gillan - wrote it. You probably know that the band writes almost all the songs they record and perform. Roger Glover probably most prolific. When they were young, Gillan asked Glover how to write songs - and now Ian has probably written hundreds of songs over the years. I love this band!
there is something wron about an older rocker acting like if he was 18 yrs old.. I personally prefer the serene ways of somebody like dave gilmour as opposed to the singer here..
This is the live Come Hell or High Water DVD right? If so, WHY exactly did Ian Gillan ask fans not to buy it in 2007? He says it's one of the lowest points in his life, but he seems to be performing as if he was in his prime, if not better, here!
@XtremeCam Yeah this is ''Cpme Hell Or High Water'', but i do not think that the performance here is why he said so(i dont know for 100%)
I think it might be associated with some interwiew he had 92 where he said he would ''rather slit his own throat than rejoin purple'' Although im not sure about that either, it might be both the performance(maybe Gillan himself didnt like it)and the interview combined
Here is an interwiev where he talks about going back to purple in 93 /watch?v=uHqURYigALc
Hey Iron Maiden fans have their "Up The Irons"-.does Deep Purple have something similar? I have followed for years and haven't known of any yet I would love to see one related to the Mach 2 line-up..just me?
As new guitarists rise to notoriety through out the years I still come back time and time again to Blackmore as simply the most outstanding. Many come close but either fall short or cannot deliver on some level that Blackmore can. He may not be the best in every single category but all-round? Sorry but none compare.
Interesting to see blackmore play this without a slide. Very good preformance all around but ritchie doesnt really seem too please during this concert
It is horrible to see the anomosity that existed between Ritchie and Ian, it's clearly noticeable. They still performed in an awesome way, but the chemistry was simply gone...
Ritchie has rights to do whatever he wants. That was his decision to switch to medieval music. DP will be the best forever with their classic lineup and their classic songs. Steve is playing fantasticaly Ritchie's music. Same doing Don.
@krishu1997 steve morse is a fucking tool. He should never have been in deep purple. without ritchie, deep purple should just wait for him to get off his period, and then re-form.
@tythefrog nope. Steve Morse is an amazing guitar player. MK2 will always be the best Purple lineup, but Ritchie would never rejoin Purple. MK8 is better than nothing.
@tythefrog The problem is that Blackmore seems to be a difficult guy 24/7. So, if that is so, and they still wanted to play, what would you have done in their place? I think they did good at finding another guitar player, even though there will never be a better guitar player for DP than Ritchie
@petrisz i believe ritchie threw a glass of water to a cameraman and not IAN.he never like cameramen to get too close to them whenever they were performing !and yes, this was the tour were ritchie decided to leave the band, such a waste of talent !
what a great fucken come back album!!!!!!!
