Dear Santa Claus, I know I've been a bad boy this year but could you please slap the faces of Blake, Chris and Adam and tell them how freaking selfish they're being.
such and underrated album and song. why jawbreaker didn't break is beyond me (thankfully they didn't). Jawbreaker was way ahead of their time, this sounds dated due to so many terrible bands without soul mocking this trend but no one can quite get it right. If they ever got back together I'd love to see what they could do. JTB's first record was a great post "dear you" album. You could see where blake was going listening to dear you next to ORD.
'I know you all are tired from church today'...'oh ye wisened punk sage'..Can someone put together an album of inbetween song banter and feedback? Those guys handled the most absurd stuff being screamed at them (yeah, I went to a few shows, I did some screaming!).
I completely agree with Nivlac, that is an insult to Jawbreaker. Brand New will never even get close to the greatness that is Jawbreaker. Great upload though.
disagree, huge fan of both; just because they're from an earlier and more influential era doesn't make them better. brand new have shown alot more growth than jawbreaker (although jawbreaker started great, they really only stayed great).
brand new started in less flattering circumstances but have grown into a completely different act (and a great one at that). i see them as the alt/rock equivalent of poison the well.
Fall Out Boy have also coverd Jawbreaker, thankfully they weren't famous and no one has heard the butchered song. And I like their first album, but they just pissed all over the song.

It's still good when Brand New does it.. But it doesn't beat the original; not by a long shot.

I disagree with \/, dear you is my fav album. Secondly they were doing most of their stuff without a major record label. A perfect band in my eyes.

Eh, Brand New isn't so bad. They've evolved beyond a typical pop punk band.
However, to put them in the same league as Jawbreaker is idiotic.
AdamSocial412 4 years ago
Not entirely, it's the same vain, but they aren't really related. I wouldn't put them side by side ever, but they're in the same league surely.

that is completely weakass...brand fuking new will never even be in the same ball park as jawbreaker. get fucking real, and fuck off.

Well, at least they have good taste!

Brand New covered this? Sheesh I'm old.
Oh well, I heard a bar band cover Taking Back Sunday (dude actually called "Cut(e) Without the E" an oldie) and Finch, so what do I know?
