Harmful Ingredients in Nail Polish - What is DBP?

Thank you for this. =] I knew that DBP was supposed to be bad and I knew that there was a chemical used in some nail polishes that helped cause birth defects, but I wasn't sure which one since I didn't know about DBP. I've recently been obsessed with polish, but haven't bought many because I wasn't sure about their ingredients. Looking them all up now. XD lol so again, thank you.

I'm so glad I don't use nail polish. I work in a restaurant and we are not allowed to use nail polish at all!

what is nonoxynol-9? also what is methylparaben? I have no idea what they are, and I have no idea if they are harmful or anything, if you need to know, I found them both in a body butter/lotion.

Hi Alice, I made a video on Paraben already.. when you have time do watch it..

Nonoxynol-9 is a surfactant/emulsifying agent.. it basically binds water and oil together so they won't separate.. the butter lotion stays creamy... :-)

I just checked my nail polish and yeah, it has that DBP! You're soooo good at seeing the bad things from our products, thx for sharing it! One day the cosmetic producers will hate you :D (but people will love you more!)

I did a quick read up on toluene (I pump my own gas at the filling station).  And, if DBP is similar, then it's pretty nasty stuff. Basically, DBP is a "glue" that makes polish stick. But, it does it by melting the surface of the nail to create a molecular bond. It's scary to think that so many mothers may have unintentially compromised the future fertility of their unborn sons. I'm aghast that we still have so many solvents and solvent residues in our daily products.

I use nail polish to paint things and have stopped using it on my nails . I have lost interest in it as well as wearing make-up that's not natural which I still have :( Do you use nail polish ? There is a natural nailpolish called Suncoat and Butter London ( i think that's the name ) . I agree with u 100% and we need more vids like yours on youtube cause it opens people's minds up and we by ourselves have to be conscious of what we put on ourselves .
