You can get the Oral-B Sonic Complete S200 Basic for $79 however it's only for one person. The Oral B S-320 Sonic Complete Rechargeable Power Toothbrush is $110 on amazon. It is for if you need to store more than one brush. Both work better than the Phillips Sonicare. The Phillips Sonicare doesn't last long, I read the reviews and the battery dies pretty much. I had one about 7 years ago and the battery died after a few months. I would never pay $180 for a toothbrush.

I prefer this new one. They are all in line. I love the idea of having different options. Most times I use just the Clean Mode, and sometimes I will run it twice.

Wouldn't the case protect the toothbrush head from most germs? I'd think the handle would get more fecil matter on it. Great toothbrush though.

i think that gums are what really benefit from the sonicare. i have sensitive gums, so I soak the brush head in rubbing alcohol for 12-24 hours and it really softens the bristles. probably makes the brush less effective but is better on my gums.

alcohol evaporates. have you tried soaking in hot or boiling water before brushing?

Wow! I saw it also for this price at bed bath and beyond and thought, mmmm, when I first got Sonicare I paid 120 at wal mart so I went back for the updated one and it was, as I thought, 120. May be you can see if the store does a price match, because paying 178 is beyond crazy!

I've been using Sonicare since 2005. I got the latest one with the sanitizer earlier last year. It's the best electric toothbrush out there. I recommend this for everybody.

When you pay for the braces (mine cost $5000)

they add in the toothbrush. Sometimes they finish your teeth beyond schedule. So to not rip you off, they sometimes give you these fancy techy toothbrushes.

My sister got one, but not me.

The toothbrushes are the best! Needs a waterproof cover for the stuff that grows on the inside. Google "Sonicare cover" and choose one of your choice. I have the elite model and it used to get nasty on the inside. Now it's dry as a bone.

I don't think you need a waterproof cover since the uv sanitizer also dries it.
