I appreciate and totally embrace what *this* generation is trying to feel over the noise of the media machine--much less have experienced that freedom of expression and the issues of the time. Completely different issues to be faced and dealt with now. This version fills that need, IMHO...

I like this cover. I dont think cover songs are made for ppl to argue which version is better. I think its simply to acknowledge what the original artist was singing about. The only difference i think between the two is that marvin gave it a lil bitter sweet in his singing. Apc on the other hand gave it a sad depressing feeling. Wich it is basing on the lyrics. Im also a apc is fan as well. Kudos to both

@massivekartattack I think it does because the cover of there first album was kinda redish. and someone said he that isn't a perfect circle to which was then met with well it's more like a 3-d circle if you look at it differently. And because it's impossible to draw a perfect circle on earth at least. yes even with a compass. Might be part of the reason why some people are obessed with pi.

There seem to be a lot of interpretations out there but the oft repeated one is that Maynard himself said it was about friendship and how the band members are connected and one more which states that it was taken from Orestes' lyrics. And I thought it had everything to do with Giotto and the story about the freehand perfect circle he drew...which apparently is impossible

I really don´t like saying this but this cover is much more intense then the original by marvin gaye. Maynards version is reflecting much more what the lyrics are all about! If I wouldn t know it, I d think that this is the original! But dont forget there are about 30 years difference!!!!
