I live in England and a friend and I worked out how much petrol/gas is per US gallon in dollars over here. We pay the equivalent of about $8.50 a gallon here. It's £1.39 a litre.
@drspockwa YEs, perhaps not, however, it is 10 years old, it's paid for, and I bought it when gas was super cheap with no crystal ball. Hind-sight's 20/20 right?
Left a comment here about 3 weeks ago ...which our gas prices here were $3.49 a gallon for regular unleaded. Now, in not even 3 weeks, our gas prices are $3.80 a gallon. Seems like its going up each day now ..crazylol
@duskin99 You're soooo right. Until 6 months ago I biked EVERYWHERE! I have a big trailer I pulled my kids in behind me. I filled up my car once every few months. My new house is on the far side of huge bridge that would be far to dangerous to bike my kids over. I feel quite trapped my circumstances. I wish they would put in a pedestrian bridge!
@Destro273 Wow! That's crazy. Everything here is just sooooo spread out. I love Europe because of the closeness of everything and the fabulous mass transit. I once went 3 months there without getting inside a car! Still the prices affect EVERYTHING from energy to food on the shelves.

When I run out of money I just buy a bag of rice and some beans and some tasty spices. Though I know it's not always easy when you're trying to cook and please "the royal family".
@ReliableInsider Beans and rice! Oh my goodness could I tell you some stories about us and beans and rice. I almost have a gag reflex just thinking about it. I think that got us through med school! Too bad we were rich in med school compared to residency!!!!

@DerClaudius Oh, but Germany has such nice trains! My favorite thing about Europe is the Public Transportation. Oh and I love Rothenburg!! That is my most favorite place ever. I am glad I'm not buying gas there though!

$4.02 here. Drive a 2000 Grand Prix, and it cost $40 to get 10 gallons of gas. Outrageous just about sums it up.

$3.49 in Minnesota. Probably shouldn't have bought the SUV that gets 15 MPG if you are worried about gas prices.

1 liter = 1.542 €
=> 1 gallon = 5.83647 € = 8.07$

Here in the deep South (central Mississippi) It hit $3.10 in some area's. I not as high as the rest of the US, but it's climbing.
