i was in uss midway-cv41 (mid 80's) and the carrier always stopped in subic bay for liberty (the best of all ports for me) (always highly anticipated by my shipmates who were fans of hard rock) and just right out the gate you'd walked over minute or two and you're trapped into these wild bonanza of booze, rock n roll and whatnot. magsaysay blvd was lined with bars/lounges/eateries of all types a place to be of all the westpac. cover bands played songs like a record. from rick ruiz in calif.
